Please. Someone tell me it exists.
Here's the thing. I swear, Superman had a car at one point (maybe even just one old crazy silver age comic), called the Supercar.
And it had hands.
Someone tell me it exists. With evidence?
Or tell me the superhero I'm confusing it with. Because it's driving me crazy!

I'm pretty sure that it was called the SUPERMOBILE :D Superman built it to battle Amazo & at the same time allowed him to operate in environments hostile to his powers / vulnerabilities. Can't quite remember actual issue # but it WAS Silver Age I'm certain.

You have no idea how happy you've just made me.
I was telling everyone about it. And they all looked at me like I was crazy.
Oh man. Thank you. Soooo much.

It's been made into toys several times. And I believe Martian Manhunter has a very similar car as an homage in several post-Crisis appearances.
I'd like to see this brought back, with some redesigning.
It was supposed to be made from Superman's rocket, initially (as was the Legion of Super-Heroes Clubhouse).
I think it would be cool if, say, it just featured the HYPERDRIVE from Superman's rocket.

The rocket he used on the animated series was made from the rocket he came to earth in, the Supermobile was made from Supermaniam.
I wrote up a brief history of the Supermobile here. (http://sayitbackwards.blogspot.com/2007/06/supermobile.html)

Funky Flashman was selling used Supermobiles and Batmobiles in Architecture and Mortality. Obviously not what you're asking for, but still... funny!

The Supermobile was even featured in an episode of SUPERFRIENDS in the late 1970s, when one of Superman's enemies turned the sun red, rendering Superman powerless. The Man of Steel had to turn to his trusty Supermobile to save the day on that occassion.

It ran off with Spider-Man's Spidermobile. They live in Oregon, raising sheep. Takes all kinds...

I had the little matchbox toy of that!

Indeed, I remember it well. As was mentioned, it appeared on the Superfriends, and I think the Amazo issue was meant to capitalize on the TV appearance (although I'm only guessing here). I have a feeling that there may even have been a mego toy version, although I never actually owned or saw one (as someone else mentioned there was a spidermobile).
Someone else mentioned matchbox toys - anyone remember the Joker mobile? It was the stock matchbox white ambulance, with I think, a Joker face (or Joker logo) decal added. It was a bit disappointing, but hey, the Batmobile had to chase something (but I was never much of a matchbox kid, I prefered my 8" megos).

I do remember the Joker Mobile. What I also had as a kid was the Jaws van that was supposed to be tied into the James Bond character - though I doubt the character was supposed to brainy enough to know how to drive
I still have the Corgi (or was it Dinky?) die-cast model of Superman's car.
(Was it really called "Supercar"? I think it was the Supermobile, to jibe with the Batmobile.
Besides, "Supercar" is a whole different thing, one of Gerry Anderson's first puppet shows ...)
