I'm going to spend the whole weekend kicking back and playing the greatest game on the planet Earth more commonly known as Front Mission 4. Be warned it's only the greatest game on Earth if you have a Codebreaker or Gameshark otherwise you can't get all of the hidden Wanzer parts.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about think Final Fantasy Tactics meets Mobile Suit Gundam and you have a good description of the Front Mission games. I'm even going to buy a Japanese PS 3 so I can play the fifth version of the game.

We should all have a de-stressing weekend.
My mother-in-law is in town for the weekend, so I am going to have the antithesis of your weekend.
The woman makes me tired. So very very tired. If I wasn't so tired of thinking about her, I could write you paragraphs upon paragraphs of why she is so ridiculous (and these are just stories from today).
So, I am going to have to postpone my de-stressing weekend until next time. But I am thinking about having a stiff drink.

I really wanted to de-stress because work has been very rough. At the end of the quarter my shift changed, and I now work days for about one more week.
I have found some people are a different breed of peeps during the day. Very petty, insecure, and extremely passive-aggressive. I've gotten the silent treatment, the sneak out to lunch treatment, and the smile in Stacy's face while I bitch about him behind his back treatment. What could have been a simple shift change has become something of a nightmare. I miss my night shift already. :(
Still, I take my duties very seriously, voice my opinions as needed, and assert my authority also as needed (which is often). Me being me is pissing some people off. However, my supervisors are not complaining, which is the real bottom line.
I can say I was able to shake off a lot of the stress, and enjoy my week-end. I can at least go back to work with renewed strength. It's just one more week. It's time for some music. I may even cook some burgers today.

The problem is stemming from me exercising authority, and that has bothered the hell out of some people. I played it cool because as long as my supervisors aren't pissed off, I know I'm good.
I noticed that the offending parties refuse to address anything directly. The admin team has pissed them off, and they don't want to open their mouths and talk.
Sade will put me to sleep, she is rich and mellow. Ended up listening to a mix of songs, which is good.

this is why i actively pursue minimum responsibility in the work place...it's just too much of a hassle and you wind up having days like this...but it sounds like you work w/ some pretty shady people stacy...it's messed up when you have to worry about back stabbers as well as performing your duties as well...in any event, i hope the coming week is a better one...:)

After venting with friends, I was able to purge the foolishness. my eyes are open though, so I won't be blindsided like this again. Sadly, I expected the admin team to give me grief (as always), but it was the co-workers. We are all in the same boat, but I guess not.

I have a very dark sense of humor. When I look at a post that, instead of being funny like I thought it was, was instead mean, vicious and cruel. When that happens I realize that I may have made someone I consider a friend fell like dog shit. That it turns makes me feel like dog shit and I wonder if everyone wouldn't be better off if I just stopped posting.

You simply need to temper your responses. We all have varied senses of humor which we all temper. I'm not sure I even follow the joke or what it was suppose to refer to.
You should also focus on things you are good at, such as you have plenty of knowledge, and you can be very funny at times.
Stop wondering if we're better off. We'd tell you if you were terrible.

De-stressing weekend???? What's that? I'll just be glad when June is over and done with....
Every freakin' weekend I'm driving back and forth between the Chicago area and St. Louis area. My mother-in-law is moving to be nearer to my wife and me, so my wife and I are going down to help her pack. The move is July 1st....

My wife and I have been planning on having a stress-free weekend at the beach for awhile now. 4 weekends ago: She was sick, 3 weekends ago, I was sick, 2 weekends ago, the foster kid was sick with high, high fever and we had to take him to the emergency room. This whole past weekend, I've been bad sick. Monday night, my fever went up to 102.5 and stayed there until about 11:00 the next day. Then, my fever gradually came down. I haven't ran a fever since then, but it left me with some big-ass blisters on the back of my throat and red whelps all over the roof of my mouth. They've all but gone away, now (I'm tired of eating nothing but Chicken Noodle Soup and having to go to the bathroom 6 times a day). This upcoming weekend, I plan on possibly going bowling Friday, going to the lake Saturday day, going to Eric's Saturday night, then going to my family get-together for Father's Day, and then maybe playing some Chess with dad that night. Is that too busy to be de-stressing?

Congrats. More de-stressing.
I did manage to catch a movie Saturday night (by myself) after we dropped her off at the hotel for the night, and managed to play a little bit of City of Heroes while she was sitting on the couch talking to her son about why he doesn't know what he is talking about, and she is right about everything. So, it wasn't horrible 24 hours a day.
Overall it wasn't the worse visit ever. She was really damn interested in all that was going on with Paris Hilton, so that distracted her a bit. It wasn't as bad as the time she talked for 7 hours about when she dies. She wasn't sick or anything, that's just the kind of stuff she likes to talk about. There is no way in words I can really describe the overprotective, alarmist, self centered, self absorbed universe she lives in.
The example I like to give people so they understand how this former 1st grade teacher treats her son (and others) like he is still in the first grade is:
The first time he had to drive from Portland (where he had recently moved) to his hometown (about 300 miles away) his mom was nice enough to write out some directions for him. God knows he is way too stupid to look at a map. To get to his hometown you basically need to get on one freeway, then get onto a different freeway, drive 300 miles, take and exit and turn left. Seriously. But her directions were 10 step numbered instructions that included which places he needed to stop and get gas (so his tank wouldn't get below a 1/4 tank because that isn't good for your car), and where he should stop and go to the bathroom.
Okay, my apologies. Venting session over.
Time to have a de-stressing week. I think I shall now go fight some crime on City of Heroes.

I missed the week-end de-stressification; Saturday was clothes shopping with the Things, and if you've never been shopping for summer-wear with children let me assure you running across 3 sections of Kohl's does not equal relaxation. Even if I did sneak some clothes for myself. Yesterday I had to walk up to the grocery store and back with my Things and their friend. And while they were actually well-behaved, constantly warning them to 'back away from the street' and 'stop running ahead of me' and 'don't squeeze the bread' gets on your nerves pretty bloody fast.
But I managed to sneak some de-stressification in today.
For the first time in 2 years, I got to plant a garden. Granted, most of it is in containers on the porch, but it's still gardening. I cleared out a 10' x 1½' section in front of the porch, digging out the over-grown grass with nothing more than a hand-hoe and claw; even pulled out a dead shrub for a bit more room. I'm trying one of those 'roll-out' flower beds, where the seeds are contained in a long fertilized carpet. I've also got 3 small containers full of mixed seeds. And hanging off the railing are 2 window containers, with tomatoes, jalapenos, cucumbers and a few herbs.
My arms are scratched and infected; my hands won't flex; my back is toasted. But, dammit, I feel good.

I think the directions I actually followed were:
1. Take a leak before leaving town.
2. Get gas.
3. Get on freeway 1.
4. Get on freeway 2.
5. Drive straight.
5. Left at exit.
6. Arrive, and turn off brain.

Rather than explain how I tolerate my mom, here's a six page comic I wrote a few years ago that is a spot-on snapshot of our relationship.

Most of the time, I tune out most everything she says, as she yammers about things no normal human being would give a shit about, for hours at a time. Of course, there are times, when her issues overwhelm the patience I'm willing to give them, and she gets a verbal slap-down...which she promptly downplays, but it at least temporarily snaps her out of her current idiotic tangent.

There was vodka involved, and some rum, and lots of carrying on like a college kid. Sadly, I'm not a college kid anymore, so trying to deal with patrons while nursing a semi-hangover...not so much with the happy time. Thank goodness yesterday was a slow day. On the bright side though, my sweetie and I had a very fun weekend. :D

No, but I can now communicate in Hirgana and Katakana. Kanji still eludes me.
Speaking of which do you know Kanji so fucking hard? 1500 hundred years ago the Japanese had no written language so they used the Chinese, pain in the ass system, to write and while they changed it to adopt the language as their own, they still use it. Can you imangine how much easier it would be on all of us, if they had decided to steal Latin or Spanish as their own language rather than Kanji?
And while I'm bitching about Japanese why do they leave the subject out of their sentences? That pisses me off because even if you translate something it's still hard to grasp the context as the subject is presumed to be understood rather than explained.

Even in China they have problems talking to each other because the language can very wildly from province to another. As far as learning Japanese is concerned it's easy. First learn Kana. Then learn Kanji. Finally learn the vocabulary and grammer the rules of which are much simpler then they are in English. And remember Flash Cards are your friends.:)

Also if you are learning another language be careful about the book you buy. Most books are written with the assumption that you are in a classroom, and are horrible for self study. If you are interested in learning Japanese here is what I recomend.

Finally buy thousands upon thousands of flash cards. The only reason why I don't simply make flashcards of Kana and Kanji is that you want to learn it the way it looks not the way you draw it.
Finally here is the best part about learning Japenese. You don't have to be able to write it in order to read and communicate in it fluently. And I'm sorry about all the typos but I don't have spell check here.

i had 4 years of mandarin in high school and took french in college...learning mandarin was easier...mandarin chinese is surprisingly easy to learn because there isn't an actual grammatical structure...though you do have to be mindful of tonal modulation other wise you could be calling someone's mother a horse and that's frown upon...unfortunately, i've pretty much forgotten most of what i learnt...:(

Also if you are learning another language be careful about the book you buy. Most books are written with the assumption that you are in a classroom, and are horrible for self study. If you are interested in learning Japanese here is what I recomend.

Parenting is a different kind of stress. I know for both parents its a great deal of work, and a lot of selflessness. In other words, the stress will pay off eventually for something better.
Well now, Uncle Lester. Remember you can spoil the child and give them back to the parents. It's what uncle's are for. Do wait until they are potty trained before you volunteer to babysit or you will have mad diaper/clean up duties.

If it ever comes to that, you'll have to put your foot down. We all have family and friends who would impose, if they could. I don't mind babysitting every now and then for my niece.
My cousins, however. OMG do not bring those bad assed, hyper kids my way. I know they would leave them overnight if I let them. Yes they would.

It just that things are really good between me and my brother. I would hate for him imposing to come between us, but they have a system in place so I'm not even going to worry about it until it comes up.
Speaking of my brother I just called to wish him a happy fathers day. I almost forgot to do that because the kid was born yesterday, so I'm still not quite used to the idea of him being a father yet.

Your relationship with your brother will be fine. He knows you got your own goals. I doubt he will impose (much). Siblings do impose, but distance keeps it minimum.
My older brother has step children, and imposed once, and it was after a car injury, and me on pain killers. I called him right back and told him to come get his child. That kid was EVERYWHERE until I put in the Toy Story video. he sat still like there was nothing else on the planet.
P.S. Get yourself a lot of Disney DVD's. Don't question it, just get them. Pop them in when kids start getting restless, and be prepared to hear all those damn music numbers.

That would imply we were ever close in the first place. I am not sure anyone in my family is close to anyone else. As a unit we function best independently of each other.
Together we are all too inflexible and unaccommodating and have far too many boundaries to ever really achieve any type of intimacy with each other.
For example, when I told my parents I had been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, rather than have it be a cool moment of bonding and understanding it quickly turned into a fight about dirty dishes.
My parents know I am gay, I know they know, they know I know they know, but in the almost ten years of this public knowledge we have never once discussed it. My brother might know, but I highly doubt it. If he does, then he is an even bigger douche than I thought for some of the things he has said while in my presence.
All most every meal is eaten in absolute silence. My parents always have forced us to eat dinner together as a family. And the only conversation we ever have is my mother telling us things that we all ignore and do not respond to. Actually I noticed that we all eat extremely quickly, averaging twice as fast as any of my friends or their families. I think it is just to get the damn thing over with as quickly as we can.

I was lazy. I blogged, and worked. I did do laundry, and watch a bit of the "Closer" marathon on TNT.

I wish I was a chronic over-achiever. What's going on with me is that, depite all my education, I'm a chronic under-achiever and I'm busting my ass trying to change that Asap.

Now I am. As I'm typing this I'm taking a break from studying Japanese for eight hours. Again I'm making up for the fact that I had my thumb up my butt for the first 28 years of my life. I'm almost 29 and all I have to show for it are a few degrees.

I take it you two are properly destressed?
considering i've been hopped up on painkillers for the better part of the day, then i'd say yes...;)
What destressed me is that it turns out Japanese is real easy to learn. I thought it would be hard, but it's very, very easy.
did i not say it was easy...<smile>...
Cue Masterbation joke.
I will be after I take matters into my own hands.
End masterbation joke.
i swear to all that is unholy, you are come kind of spiritual kin to me...<laughing>...
