I just saw an episode where these time travelers come from 5,000 years from the future to kidnap Dorno, who's the human kid. They start by firing on him for no reason. When Dorno says "What gives!" they say "We are from the future, you are from the past! We must destroy you!" And that's the only motivation we ever hear, as they continue to shoot at him, then kidnap him back to their land 5,000 years in the future. The rest of the Herculoids go after them in the time machine THEY LEFT BEHIND, except for the female, because back in the sixties women didn't know how to do anything. How they even know how to use a time machine is beyond me, but the Herculoids go back to the future where apparently all of civilization lives in a house in the middle of nowhere, the Herculoids defeat them, and travel back home, where the father Zandor says "That'll show them not to try to change history!" And I'm like, "WHY were they trying to do it anyway???"

You know, if *I* were going to kill a bunch of people 5,000 years in the past, I wouldn't dress up in day-glow blue armor and fire on people directly, I'd just drop a nuclear bomb on them while they were sleeping and that would be the end of it ... I mean, if you're going to change history, go all the way! I need a new pair too. I'm squinting something fierce. I'm actually scared to drive at night. It's just that getting a new pair is always so expensive, unless you use the freebies from the ugly box that the insurane will pay for.

What'd your boss do?
She's given us such severe misinformation that it is impossible to take as something other than outright lies.
She plays favorites, and will insult people under her to other people under her.
She will undermine us in front of our residents.
She yells and threatens to fire us every staff meeting.
She is overly litigious.
She lacks any form of professionalism.
During disciplinary meetings she will make personal attacks.
She delivers contradictory job performance notes resulting in no one knowing what the hell they are supposed to do.
She talks about how she hates every aspect of her job (particularly annoying to the at least four people on staff who want to make a career out of this job.) And in fact told new staff members that the only reason she is working here is because she hasn't been offered a better job (much like working with children being an RHD is not the kind of job you take just to do, you have to actually want to do it.)
Every encounter is insulting and condescending, both to us and to the residents.
Anything said to her in confidence is immediately spread to all of resident's services.
And I'm sure I could think up three or four more pages of stuff if I wasn't so angry at the moment. But the best example of our glorious leader in action is that she got fired from her last job for getting into a screaming fight with a five year old.

We've talked to both her and her supervisor this semester, and nothing has changed. I'm seriously thinking we need to get our entire staff and hall council to sign a letter calling for her resignation.
Holy crap! That takes bad boss to a whole new level!
I'm so angry right now, and we have our weekly staff meeting tonight at ten, which is normally hell on earth, but this night is going to probably wind up being an hour longer with lots and lots of screaming.

This is why I like this thread. I feel like bitching, but I know this'll pass, so I can lay my screed out here instead of starting a whole new thread taking up space on the board.
I love it. Anyway...
I'm finishing up work here with the lawyers. Most folk have been very nice. There's a funeral tomorrow, so various peoples won't make it to my leaving drinks. One fellah heading to the service just stopped by to shake my hand and wish me luck. I appreciate that, it's nice.
There's this other guy here, lawyer for the British Crown you should remember (take notes, as that's relevant) who's always sending me emails. See he's an Irish Republican sympathizer and he's excited as all get out by my presence.
An actual Irishman! And his surname's in Gaelic as well!! Quick follow him and he'll lead you to his pot of gold.
Anyway...he seems to lack that line, that mental censor, that tells you when to back up. My gf gave me a Claddagh ring which I wear proudly. He had a go at it for featuring the Crown. This to him symbolizes British dominance over Ireland. We had kings though. Four of them.
Yesterday he sends me a mail asking if I'd mind if he wore a Sinn Fein t-shirt to work tomorrow to commemorate my leaving. As a joke of course, but half-serious. Now my family history's bound up with the civil war, as are most folk living in Ireland. I have friends in the North who have suffered as a result of the conflict and I know people with pro-Republican views back home who are little more than thugs. Not that I'm pro-Unionist either, still. It's something we don't really talk about.
It's something a lawyer working for the Crown on the other side of the planet definitely should not be talking about as if he knows more than you. And then acts all uppity when told to back off.
Like I said...line. It's behind you.
The guy's not a bad guy, he's just a bit of an arse. In response to the Sinn Fein comment I replied I would come into work wearing a Rangers t-shirt. This prompted a rant about freedom of speech and Mandela and I don't know what.

The other day I had a bowl of cereal. It didn't fill me up so I finally got around to eating that half bowl amount of Frankenberry I had hanging around. Frankenberry cereal is a favorite of mine. So I'm chomping down spoonfuls as I sit at my computer. Something's crawling on my finger. I look down and see it's a tiny ant. My eyes shift to my bowl and it looks like the wreck of the Titanic. About 20 or 30 tiny ants are drowning in the milk or using the cereal as life rafts. I know I ate several mouthfuls of them.
Oh, well.

Oh, well.
I did toss the rest of the cereal though.
