And Stacy, some of us know when to turn off being silly. Others can't, or won't, and it's kind of annoying.

But nonetheless, I love everyone here, including you Lester. Don't be so hard on yourself, and you are a great guy. Just believe it.

I figured out why I'm seen as funny and nice in the real world and an asshat on the internet. In the real world when I interact with people I can see their body language and know when to stop a joke, change my approach, switch topics etc and adjust my behavior accordingly. Since I can't actually see you guys I never know when something stops being funny and becomes just plain mean. I keep trying to develop the skill to do that, and it just not taking. I'm done making my online friends be annoyed, feel like dog shit, pissed off ect because of my inability to properly articulate myself in a humorous manner.

In other words I'm repeating my post about not posting in certain threads, but am using this post to explain why as I finally figured it out after a bit of reflection.

Excedrin works. So does extra caffeine. SO, I have had a giant cappuccino with an extra shot of espresso and 3 excedrin. I now have about 6 cups of coffee worth of caffeine in my system.

Oddly, I have the caffeine woogies and I'm sleepy, too. Such a paradox.

Migraines are caused by a sudden upsurge in pressure inside blood vessels in your head. Thus, caffeine, as a vaso-constrictor, is a legitimate therapy.

My first migraine prescription (back when I was a teenager) was 100 milligrams of caffeine per pill and 1 mg of ergotamine tartrate. It took at least 6 pills to get rid of the headaches.

Now I just use coffee and a regular painkiller. Works just as well.

Brother: And what hood is that Mr. I've only been to Chicago for job interviews.

Me: Um, the South side.

Brother: If you've been to the South side how do you get there?. Give me directions.

Me: um go the Downtown and ah drive South.

Brother: You're in idiot.

And that was my conversation I had with my brother. In other news I learned you poor bastards are paying 3.50 for comics. When I had a serious jones I was paying for 60 issues a month plus trades so I feel your pain.

That's the only upside in living in a big city as oppose to a suburb. If my car goes down I'm !@#$ed. But, honestly it would be a waste for me to get a car. The price for a month of parking alone would be more expensive than a monthly bus pass. Besides on a nice day I can walk home from work and it'd take me 30 minutes max.

Hope your current civic fare better than the previous one.

But, honestly it would be a waste for me to get a car. The price for a month of parking alone would be more expensive than a monthly bus pass. Besides on a nice day I can walk home from work and it'd take me 30 minutes max.

The thing that gets me about public transportation is that I get claustrophobic. There are so many people on the train whenever I have to go in for a job interview in The Loop that feel caged in. It's worse in the city as it's wall to wall people on the streets. Even the buildings are uncomfortably close together In y brother neighborhood you can literary reach out his window and touch the building next to his and he lives in a good area on The North Side. Whenever I go to the city I always feel like a wild animal stuck in its cage and just can't wait to get out.

Yeah I could see that.

Me, I'm the opposite, while I'm by no means someone who goes out a lot, I feel I'd be bored in the suburbs. And I find the need to drive to get anywhere a waste and a hassle.

It's public transportation that is a hassle. You have to do a lot of waiting and take a very circuitous route to go shopping at several different stores. For you this is an all day project and you are limited to purchasing what you can carry. Me I just hop in my guy drive to where I need to go throw everything in my trunk and drive home. The whole thing takes 30 minutes.

Like I said, different priorites.

I don't pay gas or car expenses. And as for shopping, yeah I'm limited to what I can carry, but the nice thing about here is that downtown is full of shops and a lot of buildings are connected through underground tunnels so even in the winter it's not so bad.

But like you said, with your claustrophibic feelings, this wouldn;t be a good thing for you.

And when I said driving is a waste and hassle, I meant for my situation.

Now, me -- I CAN'T drive, so I'm a public-transit person. Once every couple of weeks I take the commuter rail into Boston with my big camping backpack, pick up a one-day bus/subway pass and do my errands. I hit the comics shop where I've had my pull-list since the mid-'80s, a couple of specialty grocery stores, and possibly a better liquor store or my preferred computer store (depending on which sort of toys I feel like buying, that week! ), and, in the summer, the vendor in the Harvard Square subway station that makes the best frickin' fruit smoothies in the world; then head home.

And I've been doing it long enough that I know when it's quicker to take the subway, a bus, or walk, as I make the big loop to make all my stops with the least backtracking.

While, yes, it can be a hassle hauling, by the end of the day, a 30- or 40-pound backpack around, I spend much of my time relaxing on the train/subway, listening to my music and reading or doing crossword puzzles while someone else hauls me to my next stop. I actually find it quite a relaxing way to spend a day, but maybe that's just me.

(...and I grew up in a small town, so I've tried both ways and I wouldn't go back to living there, even if I could!)

I hate presentations. No matter how prepared I am I always rush through it and have a tendacy to overuse Powerpoint. Still over the years I realized that if you make your presentation interactive, rather than give a speech where you are simply talking at rather than too an audience, you'll get an A.

Then again I might just be getting sympathy as for the first minute in any presentation I might stutter a bit, a left over from the time I would stutter everytime I talked. Thank god with the help of a speech therapeist I was able to cure it for the most part.

I don't know if you guys remember this but a while back I said I was taking Hapkido classes. After a month I quit the classes because they took places in the middle of bed time, 6pm to 930 pm. On days I had classes I was forced to quit.

Well the instructor called me today and said tha he finally tracked me down. He wants me to sign back up because he felt that I have a tremendous amount of potential and would do very well especially after I'm no longer a fat ass. Not one to mince words my master is. He even offered me a discounted rate compared to the other students because he wrongly assumed I quit because I could not afford. I set him straight about it and he asked me why I was working at a 3rd shift security job, as I told him once about my college degrees. He called me an underachieving loser that needs to stop cruising through life, get a good office job and get my fat ass back in class. Not one to mince words my master is.

After that phone call I real pumped and motivated. Then I realized I have no idea how I'm going to fucking do what I need to do and I'm stressing because he said he's going to call me every Friday and I had better make progress or he's going to kick my ass. For an Asian he's remarkably direct and too the point. Maybe it's because he was born and raised not too far from me.

What is a "good office job?" I could easily be an admin assistant, but damn I think that would be so boring, I'd give up. Not that being a circulation assistant is all milk and honey. Sometimes I loathe the work, and other times I adore it. Summer quarter rocks, breaks suck rotten eggs.

It is good to have someone have faith in you. He sounds tough.

Oh, I almost forgot the point I wanted to bring up. As I've mentioned before I've never been in a fight with another person. I've been in sparring matches, but that takes place in an controlled environment and the goal is not to kick ass but refine your techniques. Since you can't practice technique and protect your opponent at the same time you generally go at quarter speed and power and MUST back off in someone taps or shows sign of being hurt. This is true at my level, which is beginners, but the higher your belt is the more percentage of power and speed you use.

Anyway here is my question. What's it like to be in a fight? I've never been in one and I'm curious, but not curious enough to go pick one for fear of getting hit.

I didn't relay part of the conversation. He knows I have a Bachelors Degree and a Paralegal certificate so a good office job is working as a Paralegal which I like and am good at it. That's what he meant. And thankfully I don't know how tough he is. He only spars with the Black Belts.
