All these copyrights and regional stuff get really annoying. I used to watch the daily show online at comedy central but then they started re-directing all canadian traffic to the comdedy network site. they use a different player to show videos and I never got it to work for me

there's a reason why they call it "show bizness"...they are very tight fisted w/ how the shows are distributed now especially w/ web content...

That show brought me tears of laughter. It managed to to walk a fine line.

Peeping some anime. XXXHolic. Another CLAMP title (all female manga creative team). Not sure if you're familiar with them.

Here's a list of their titles:

Card Captor Sakura
X
Tokyo Babylon
Magic Knight Rayearth
Chobits
Clover

those are the only 2 i recognize...my friend janine keeps me in the know w/ anime, mostly because we both like shojo ai stuff like revolutionary girl utena and maria-sama ga miteru

Utena is the shit! That's a very philosophical and symbolic anime. I have the movie and tv series. I can be a bit otaku (duh). LOL

CLAMP's manga is know for it's elegance and brutality. X is extremely violent (rent/watch the movie if it strikes you).

Magic Knight Rayearth (the tv show not the OVA) has a tragic ending no one expected. Lot's of car jokes in there for some reason.

While I'm having my nerd moments, Card Captor Sakura was adapted twice. Avoid "Cardcaptors" (first adaption) because it is a watered down (heavily edited) version of CCS. The second adaptionhas no edits, only dubbing.

Tokyo Babylon's main Character appears in X as a Dragon of Heaven. He's a spiritual medium for lack of better words. it's got a lot of shonen-ai elements in there. If I say anymore I spoil what happens.

i picked utena up at philly wizard world back in 2003 in VHS format for pretty cheap cuz i didn't have a dvd player at the time...at like the first 5 eps were pretty interesting, and the only thing that was kinda worrisome was the domestic violence and the *small* hint of incest...but by the time you get to like 13th ep. it's balls to the wall crazy, but beautiful and engrossing and just very well done in terms of theme and symbolism...easily my favorite anime...but i'll definitely see if i can find the ones you mentioned on netflix...

Utena gets cookier. I think the first 13 episodes are the strongest. After the student council comes the black rose, and the Akio drama (Anthy's brother), and then the end saga. The relationships become more intertwined, complex and unusual.

If you get a chance see the movie version of Utena. Very different, the characters are somewhat re-imagined, the the romance is more physical than implied in the TV show. It also has a very unusual confrontation that has to be seen.

Tokyo Babylon is short. 2 OVA episodes. X the movie is far more direct and worth a look. The TV version is melodramatic and drags a lot out.

My pleasure. I want to collect the XXXHolic series coming out, so I will let you know how that turns out.

Osamu Tetzuka (the father of manga and anime) has some of his manga adapted that I am currently looking at. I still need some time to sort it out. He has a unique version of Metropolis, and a series called Phoenix. I'll let you know how these play out.

There are two new vodkas out - one of which I've tried, one I have yet to try. They're new, so I'm not sure how widely distributed they are, yet.

Vermont White is distilled from pure milk sugar. It's almost a liqueur. If you like the vanilla Skyy, you might like this.

Vermont Gold, their companion piece, I have not tried yet. It's distilled from pure maple sap.

While I don't normally do vodkas, I DO like a nice liqueur some evenings - the white works well, and I'm seriously tempted by the gold (when I have some extra cash).

Lucky me my @$$. I had no idea what the guest instructor was thinking when he paired the white belts (me) with the black belts. (her) It couldn't have been for knowledge because she kept kicking, punching, and putting me on the mat before I could even register she had moved. (...)

I may be confused... Was it something that the studio/network/creator had posted to YouTube and later removed, or something that J. Random User posted without the owner's permission?

If it's the former, it sucks for the fans, but it's the owner's choice. If it's the latter, then whomever posted it should be paying the owner - not YouTube or your internet service provider.

The point is that even "free" television is paid for by enough people buying the products advertised during the shows to make it worthwhile for companies to advertise at that time on that channel -- which allows the station/network to buy the right from the owner to broadcast the program in the first place. Whether one agrees with the current copyright laws or not (and I have some issues, mostly dealing with copyright's longevity), the fact is that it is the property owner's right to decide when, where, and how he/she/it distributes that property. If the owner says that posting the property for free online is not permitted, then it's not.

If you believe that YouTube shouldn't be responsible for the legal status of the content that is posted on it - that it should just be a conduit - then there is no reason why it should be responsible for PAYING the owners for content that is posted illegally. Expecting them to do so is the equivalent of saying that, if someone stole a car and left it in your driveway, then you were responsible for paying the original owner for the value of the car.

If I misunderstood your point and you want to continue this, let's go to PMs or a non-destressing thread, since this is potentially stressful.

the show started when Sakura found the cards.Li showed up a bit later.

I think the goal was to make another Pokemon style hit. That meant dumbing it down for American audiences, and removing Sakura as the lead but a co-lead character. :(

Ewwwww.
I admit it.I did used to watch Pokemon.even went to see a few movie.
I still think the first one was realy fun.

I think they ended the serie when,in the manga,Sakura's brother started dating is bestfriend, the guy Sakura had a crush on.

Ah, well I guess if you quit because you thought is was going to ruin the fun then I can't fault you for that.

The plan was simple. First I would create a V, from V is forVendetta, avatar and post as V in all red caps about how we must rebel against Lebian subjigation. I was also going to post every ass shot of Manfaye and Adrian Paul I could get my hands on.

As fun as all that would have been, for me anyway, Sabrina really did have a nice fun birthday thread that was a celebration of her amazing life and I really did not want to take away from that. Well anyway now you guys know what the big plan was.

For whatever small consolation it may be, we only had rain out of this one, so the winter-line is moving further north every day.

It'll reach you soon, Bo!

Of course, when I say we got "rain", it's rather like saying "Gates got money." It was pretty heavy for awhile last night - I got drenched walking home from work and the snot-rocket was NOT happy about being dragged out of a warm bed for her evening walk in the midst of a monsoon. On the plus side, when the weather's really lousy it often takes her less time to decide to get Presidential than it does when the weather's nice.

All I want is a hint that spring is coming, hopefully that winter-line will pass us soon. Athough, I don't think rain will be a good thing after the snow dump we got.

I seem to recall hearing once, that winter moves 10-miles per day. This is a gross oversimplification, of course, of fronts and weather patterns, but seems to average out as a pretty fair rule of thumb.

That being the case, we had a fair number of warm days in Feb - bracketed by the damned-cold snowy ones - so it should start reaching you soon.

Hang in there, Spud!

I'm going to try to avoid debating for a while. I hate debating, actually. The liberals get pissy if you don't agree with them. The conservatives, with the few exceptions like Loren, MaQ, and McBlondie, spew talking points that make them look like kool aid drinkers. But mostly, I hate the lying, the insinuations, the hate filled/prejudiced comments, the spin doctoring, and most of all, I hate what it does to me. I get defencive quite easily and I find myself flinging back verbal volleys, and I hate that because it produces a lot of guilt and brings out the old mean girl inside of me. I'm going to try to avoid debating for a while and just stick to the fun threads. I don't need more stress in my life than I already have.

I'm fine. Tired, and feeling a bit blue. But it'll go away. Speaking of which, Night just told me he's been having health problems as of late. And he doesn't feel like he fits in here anymore. Give him some love, because man, I'd hate to see him go. :(

Night does fit in, as we're his friends. He'll always have a home at De-stressing.

If I remember correctly, Night and Gladdy were the two people who first welcomed me to YABS. I'd hate it if Night thinks he doesn't fit in anymore. I hope you feel better, Nightie! :(

You should always claim the least exceptions possible. Worst case scenario you overpay a little each paycheck and they give it back to you.

Worse case scenario in claiming to many exceptions is that the tax man wants his pound of flesh come April.

Think of it as giving somebody else a chance to do something nice by cheering someone up, rather than hogging all the fun for yourself...

Pfffffffft! Fuck it, they were probably fine anyway. ;) And I'm sure they'd rather know you were resting well after such an exhausting day instead, anyway.

Allergies are in full bloom today. My eyes are burning so bad. Bought Zyrtec and took it. So far, no ill-effects. I got an air filter going, and decided to make some homemade fries and steak for dinner.

Only 3 hours left at the current job. I'm excited to get to Vegas but I'll miss my current co-workers. *sniff*

Looks like a long lazy day at work ahead of me, not that I mind it for a friday.

I just know I'm gonna get screwed over somehow this afternoon.....

I am off today. I need it, and I'm rather miserable due to allergies, but I digress. I wish your day to be swell. :)

I didn't meant it that way. I was aluding to my mental state. Honest.

Speaking of your allergies, all kidding aside I'm worried about you. If you're this bad now I shudder to think of what you will be like during the spring and the summer. I know you hate the cold but health wise you might be better off in a colder climate once you finish your education and move on to your chosen vocation.
