I understand if you think your words are coming off harsher than you intended. We have all been in that type of situation, online and/or real life. I do think we are all articulate enough to let you know if you have offended us. For that I ask that you give us credit to make that decision. Ha! They won't even pay for parking, cheap ass bastards. And I hate to admit it, but I don't think I'd take a class on this campus. I'm just not that impressed with the quality of education here. There's another private college around that offers evening classes in both creative writing and in computer programming (both things I would love to take for fun--I really am a nerd!!), but the classes are like 300+ a credit. Hellllllls no. That's 900+ a class! :eek:

That's just a guess on my part. The cop part I mean, someone definitely tried to sell me weed.

What's funny is that four years ago now in California someone tried to sell me drugs for ten minutes, only we kept going around and around because I had no idea what he was getting at. He kept asking me if I blazed it, something about Mary Jane which I remember to this day because I thought of Spider-man's then wife. Finally he asked me if I smoked reefers and still didn't get it and told him no that I don't some cigars. Finally he said something about pot, a light bulb went off in my head, and I hightailed it out of there without asking any questions. I tried to make that up but alas the new dealer wasn't playing.

Again the cop part is a guess. As I said the guy walked off. For all I know the health club I've been going to everyday but Christmas since 1997 is a den of sin and I never knew it. Add thousands of hand written index cards and thousands more papes of brush strokes and you get an idea of what I've been up too. I haven't been asorbing Japanese, as that's too passive, but consuming it.

Some of that "mistranslation" is the translator trying to find something that means roughly what was said and that at least somewhat matches the actor's mouth-movements. That way, you don't get that thing where the mouth is still moving for five seconds after the dialogue is finished.

Well, if you think about it, most of them have probably never learned to write INSIDE the box. Writing - really of any kind - is like any other art form. You have to master the basics before you can start experimenting.

I don't know if I've found my voice, but I have a style of writing that I enjoy. I've been trying to gently push them in more interesting directions. Sadly a good portion of them are convinced of their own awesomness that it is very difficult.

Mom learned when she was in the Air Force and based in Europe, and then taught me, although I kept learning it because I love cooking Italian foods. years ago, I went to Italy with Daddy on an art history tour of Europe and was barely fluent enough to talk with everyone there. Actually, I learned art from Daddy. I mean, he loves telling his friends that while most gurls were practicing with fingerpaints, I was working with ink pens ... which really made my elementary teachers wonder about me hehe!
