Hard for me to get into anime. Too used to seeing people reading it at B&N with one hand. And the frequent thefts there.
Half our sercurity cameras are pointed to the anime section. For good reason too.

Still A virgin

FLCL is good, but weird as hell. Revolutionary Girl Utena is equally weird and philosophical, and has a lot of sapphic (and homoerotic) overtones. With Utena you have to watch the TV series first, because the movie is a separate interpretation.

After reading a article from the director,it seems they are going to be going forward without commenting on the original movie. And no "daylight" scenes. It seems she prefers to make the movie more in tone of Garth's MAX series.
Looking forward to it. :)

I bought the movie, and at best for me it was ok. I got what they were trying for,but it just did not FEEL like the Punisher until it started copying scenes and characters from Garth's run. Mindless fun.
I have hopes for a serious,DARK movie(and it will be a hard R) about the Punisher.

With the exception of Hal Sparks and possibly what's his face, everyone needed to go back to acting school.
The writing was god awful. Filled with rancid dialoge.
the characterization was amazingly enough worse. They were, I guess (or at least I'm hoping), trying to go the Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Nip/Tuck root and have rather unlikable characters who you like and are interesting, unfortunately that backfired and resulted in unlikable characters who you outright hate.
The directing had all the subtlety of Mjolnir.
Just as a side note they had the worst nerd joke/reference I've ever heard.

Hey he sees himself in my pants. Now he claims he was just jesting. Must have been the coffee talking.
The library assistant in me hates the thief he's become, and there is a reason we flush piss down the toilet.

I wanted to see if I can still kick over my head jet li style and do the splits. I wasn't able to do the splits anymore but I can still kick over my head so that's something. What sucks though is that I'm hearing slight popping noises when I kick and legs are little stiff. I think I'm going to have to work on that.

Actually the guns belong to my brother who can't keep them as Chicago has a strict handgun law. I want nothing to do with the guns so my roommate hides them and the cases of bullets from me.

You watch anime and play video games all day. Why is comics your secret shame?
1. Watching anime is cool.
2.The video game industry is now grosses something like ten billion dollars annually. Everyone from Grandmas to gang bangers is playing now so it's mainstream rather than geek. I wish I played video games all day. Sadly I only get about two to three hours a day playing video game, which I figure is about how much time the average person watches TV.
3. The best selling comic on the charts, and I'm talking about the biggest comic of the year, is lucky if it sells two hundred thousand copies. unlike video games and anime there is a stigma attached to reading comics as well as negative stereotypes of people who read comics. Trust me when I say that you DON'T want people to know that you read comics.
4. Why the hell do I have three paragraphs on a one sentence question? This is what I get for not getting any sleep for the past thirteen hours even though it's only 11am. Fucking night shift sucks.

Yes it is. Anime is part of the counter culture which is cool in the way watching independent movies is cool. Comics have never been cool, even in the 90s when people were purchasing 8 million copies, they were only doing so as a form of investing their money. HA, HA, HA, HA,HA!

Watching independent movies isn't cool. It's pretentious. And anime is not part of any counter culture.
And if we are talking about pure circulation numbers the current top selling comics would fall well with in a list of the top 50 newspapers.

1. Newspapers and comics are dead circualtion wise compared to what they once were. Both mediums are on their last legs doing everything in their power, selling out all their principals, to regain a silver of their former glory.
Comparing near dead medums to prove how popular comics and newspapers are just doesn't work.
2. Japan Animation on the other hand, unlike comics and newspapers, is in a grotwth market with more people renting and purchasing anime than ever before. You see anime DVDS wherever you go from Target to Blockbuster. That used to be true for comics, but not anymore and not for a long time.

That's not true at all. Both are doing considerably better than five years ago. Right now both are in a mild upswing which will probably continue. Comic sales are almost double now what they were ten or so years ago thanks to the TPB boom.

Just because people do something in relatively large numbers does not make it cool.

Most of his strikes last under an hour, and he's done several of them on the same day! He's done so many of them, it's impossible to keep any kind of real count with any statistical accuracy. I mean, I'm pretty good at math, but even I would find it difficult to count all the strikes he's been on!
But at least I have a chance to catch up to his post count!
