I'm psychic!

So we decided to watch the movie Crank today. Jason Statham plays a hitman who is given a poison that will kill him in minutes unless he keeps his adrenaline going, giving the filmmakers an excuse to have have him do all sorts of stupid daredevil things to keep himself alive while he hunts down the man who killed him.

Think DOA on speed, in real time.

Shortly after waking up, he calls a friend. In a rapid cut flashback scene, we learn the friend is transgender. I went out on a limb and made a prediction, namely that

the transgender friend would be dead 2/3 of the way through the movie

and sure enough,

the friend is tortured to death at about the halfway point; this makes Statham mad enough to want to kill the guy he's already trying to kill.

As I told you, psychic. Or maybe I've just seen enough queer characters in action movies to recognize an old, tired pattern.

Nah, I'm psychic. Couldn't be the other one.

Sure. The rule with transwomen seems to be that, if appearing in a tv show or movie that isn't queer themed, they're psychotic, a prostitute, a murder victim, or played by an incredibly beautiful woman so that there can be an "omigod, she's really a guy" plot twist.

Alexis Mead fits right into "plot twist" use. Which doesn't make her a bad character, just a stereotype.

I can think of two positive portrayals in non-GLBT themed TV shows or movies that don't fit one of the stereotypes. The Days of Our Lives plot thread from last year and a motel desk clerk in The World's Fastest Indian.

In CSI's 100th episode, they manage to hit all of stereotypes in 40 minutes, though it was nice to at least see actual transgender women used to play the extras.

I was being sardonic. A yuppie would sell and try to make a profit, it's really about being shallow. Note that I am too low key to be a true posting whore. Also note blue is my color, and yuppies do things with shallowness. Why go for all posting whore glory when minimum effort is...

I don't think you understand. I'm dangerous on the dance floor. I don't think I shared this story, because it happened before I became a Yabster but the last time I tried to dance with a woman was three or four years ago at my cousin Danny's wedding. I'm still not sure how I accomplished this, but I used my leg and arm to judo flip my cousin Nineveh. I literally flipped her flat on her back. Looking back on it, the event was funny and has passed into family legend but at the time I had a full blown anxiety attack or something close to it.

These days I just engage in noncontact dancing, and only if I'm trying to get laid.

Uggg... I hate Christmas shopping.

Speaking of which I went to the mall today for the first time in ten years to buy a new cd player. I ended up getting an mp3 player from Best Buy, but while at the mall I noticed something. The patronage and the employees were nothing but teenage girls. What the hell is that about?

Teenage girls are materialistic whores. We really need to do away with them.

If you ever wonder why teenage boys want to sleep with other teenage boys, all you need to do is look at teenage girls. The vilest filth on the planet.

LMAO! OMG You need a camera trained on you at all times. You have the most offbeat life I've know. It's so entertaining. I so rename you, Ninja of the Deadly Dancing, or Darth Carthan. Either one works well.

The problem with a blog is that the frequency of the events that are interesting are low. Yes, they happen but not on a daily weekly or even monthly basis. I''ll go weeks, sometimes months without incident and then bam I'll embarrass myself in a most humiliating fashion.
