So anyways ... Kriskris and I just got home an hour or so ago. I'd been called in for extra shifts because, as it turned out, several doctors were out for a number of reasons ... some were sick, a couple had family emergencies, and a few ... well, one of them is getting a divorce and it's related ... it's like some kinda perfect storm for medical absences or something. But they had to not work me today or be in real trouble with labor laws, so Kris and I went to Los Angeles and visited the La Brea Tar Pits. We saw all sorts of interesting prehistoric critters, like the Shisoraptor, which caught it's prey by throwing books at it (but died off because it couldn't smell its surroundings as it had no nose) the Saber-Tooth HelloKittyKat, and the Lestersaurus, which died off because of it's failure to reproduce, but DID leave behind a number of urine samples.
Don't forget the Blondosaur. Too dumb to live.
HEY!
Anyways, they have a really neato store there. Kris got me a velacoraptor action figure, and I bought her a pterodactyl doll which I hung up over the bed! She FINALLY has a toy of her own!

I went to my 3 year old niece birthday.
She was a lot more interested in unwraping the gifts that what was in the box.
She did'nt even open the box and went for the other gift.
LOL
She got lots of princess and poneys stuff. blearg.
I kind off fell bad about telling no to someone that wanted to come run Halloween with me.
Every year i buy lots of candys, disguise myself and walk the street giving candys.
I got a whole grim silent ghost thing going, scary. I cant have someone with me talking.
Back to unstress in CoH.

Well, spoons, shovels, pickaxes ... we even use some of Lesters urine as a dissolving agent when we need to. Works pretty good on locks and the like. You'd be amazed what he's been selling on eBay. Just look up 69Lester.
We almost did it a few months ago, but we ended up in S(heila)J's bedroom. I think we took a wrong turn at the Drop Bear Tar Pits.

So, we had a nice little visit from county children's services. It was an unscheduled visit, but they're allowed unannounced home visits the first six months after the adoption becomes legal. The woman who came out was very nice, I made her a little tea, we chatted about the little one and I answered a few questions about her progress, she looked around the downstairs areas and the nursery a bit, and we were done.
I'll be so glad when the six months is finally up. November 5th can't come soon enough.

If you are a current foster parent or have adopted in the county in the last six months, yep, unannounced home inspections are allowed. They're not harassing us or anything like that, it's just the way the system works. It's designed to protect the children that go through the system from getting placed with abusive or neglectful parents.

That's cool. I always fear unexpected company.
The unfortunate part is that they're woefully understaffed to the point that most of the caseworkers are handling several hundred cases at any one time, and most foster parents and foster homes are all but ignored after their initial certification, which results in cases of some foster parents making nice to get their certification and then letting their homes go to hell, with little consequence.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is our last visit. We've had two scheduled and two unscheduled visits so far, and there is nothing about our home that should be setting off red flags.

I thought it was the coolest comic book, but it taught me nothing about plot or characters, other than it's hard to be a mutant and stay regular.
John Byrne did a wicked parody of X-Force in The Sensational She-Hulk. :evilsmile

Just wanted to yell that just once.
When we get a brother for Kira that's what I want to name him. That way when he's outside I'll have to yell "KHANNN!" to tell him to come in the house.:D
We were about to adopt a boy a few weeks ago but I couldn't have called him that because he was just too sweet. He was also 7 years old so we wouldn't have changed his name anyway.

My dad once was putting pepper on my brother's tongue when the top of the shaker came off and then entire thing dumped on his tongue. My dad felt terrible for years.
Then I found out recently that my brother was the one that had loosened the shaker in the first place, trying to get someone to dump it on their food.

I feel real shitty right now. Last week I started working a shitty job at a security company, so I went to another security company applied and got a real cool site on the spot. I knew right away I was going to ace the interview because I walked in and saw comic book posters on his wall so we talked about comics for an hour before discussing whether or not I had the job.
Here is why I feel shitty. The new job wants me to start on Monday, which means I have to walk in today and tell my current employer that tomorrow is my last day. I've never done that before but I have no choice. What makes matters worse is that while the job sucks everyone who works there is cool so I'm about to create a whole lot of hardship for people I like as they are going to have to take me off the schedule and fill it with people who otherwise may have had the day off.:(

ALL MEN learn how to um preform that function at an early age without the need to be taught. I still remember the first time. I had no idea what the hell I was doing, other than it felt good, and was shocked when it happened. I literaly was thinking about going to the hospital because I had no idea what just happened. I was twelve at the time. I think that's a bit early but at the time the playboy channel was a low monthly payment and we had it after midnight but not before eight am. At least I think that was the schedule as I haven't thought about it, since I was twelve and am shocked I still remember.

There's a fine line between pleasure and pain, as the Divinyls once sang.
For some there's a line. For some there's a considerable amount of overlap.

You know ... I'm thinking of doing a YABS version of Howyadoin's Digest. I know there's TONS of material here.

I'm just preparing for disapointment since I am planning on asking someone out in two hours.
"IGNORE ME!"
Tommy, if you don't mind a little constructive criticism, you really need to work on that confidence some. You're a great guy, and easy on the eyes if you don't mind my saying. Don't ever sell your self short. Besides, if you ask someone out while you're doing your emo-Eyore thing, it'll decrease your response. You have to go into it knowing you're King Shit of Awesometown.

In my view of life it is better to be pessimistic and be pleasantly surprised than to be optimistic and be disappointed.

Me, too. It's a much more reasonable way of doing things, especially because it helps you prepare for the worst.
Prepare for the worst case scenario, and you can still enjoy success if it happens, but if you go in expecting success, you aren't prepared adequately for when you fail.

The guys I've met who think they're King Shit of Awesometown must be quite different from those you've met.
Serious question: Why awesome? What's wrong with just going in thinking "I'm a pretty cool person who deserves someone nice"?
I mean, if you expect people to be in awe of you, how isn't that being arrogant?
I believe that is actually the vibe that Shisho was aiming for. She once referred to someone as the King Shit of Awesometown and I thought it was funny so I think was just using that exagerated term to be silly.;)
Being serious though, I agree that confidence is sexy, but arrogance is not.

OK.
I guess I'm just one of those for whom the "confidence is sexy" thing isn't in effect. I tend to look for people who treat me and others with respect, and if they're confident, wonderful, and if not, that's OK, too. I like people who are a little shy, a little insecure, a little different.
Fortunately mine can be done with only a minimum of that quality.

confidence is an inherent quality that we all have, it's just that not all of us have the ability to access it as readily as others...personally i think it's sexy as hell because it's honest...you get to see people the way they see themselves when they're at their best...there are few things hotter than that, at least for me that rings true.
