I thought your degree was in film & television?

English can lead to a master's program. I know it helps with the Creative Writing MFA that many people take. I know a few people who went that route.

If I stay in my own program, I will learn more about publishing, and new media. I should be able to master a lot of non-fiction writing, and work on speeches and essays. All my electives will be in scriptwriting so I can focus on more creative fiction projects.

I have to speak with advisor, to hear all my options. I am very excited, and hope to make some great progress in the 2007-08 year.

My advice is to start with Shakesphere. His work can be intimidating at first, but once you read more, his work becomes clear.

I have to say, I admire your reading ability. I read at a snails pace. I've often put books down and come back to them later. One English class per quarter is a handful for me.

I can handle one English or one art history course in a semester/quarter. Art history is too much survey and not engaging (yet mandatory for my program). English I have to pace myself. Some classes are better than others.

The preliminary English classes should be child's play. I nearly laughed when I was assigned them.

My roommate going to give Jake back on Tuesday. The dog is extremly well behaved and trained, but it's much bigger than expected and requires CONSTANT company and will bark if he's not walked a zillion times a day and night. Thank god for bug repellent because those masquitos were munching on my ass. Literally.

Moving on, if you have a pet Walmart has all you needs for a small fraction of the cost when compared to Petco and Petsmart and my roommate found out to his cost and chagrin.

Having owned a dog, for however briefly, I get why people are so upset about the Vic deal. I would say that the dog is like family, but that's not true as I actually love the dog and want to spend time with it.

Another thing I learned is that laptop, web cam and Jake are a bad mix, so there will be no pictures of the puppy. Sorry.

Not yet. All of my courses, except my contemporary art (art hist 701) was at the 100-200 lvl, then I switched from graphic design to contemporary writing. SCAD is big on preliminary courses.

The two I will have to take will be on persuasive writing and literary criticism. I won't be there for a while.

You might have to get a PHD for many colleges. Not sure on that. For community college I think the MA is good enough.

Editing might be rewarding. I haven't investigated all my options yet, but I thought about the publishing world, and being a FT editor. It'd be crazy work, but doable.

Pretty good. I'm more into it than I am Pride and Prejudice. But it is basically fifty pages of kids playing, so I am hoping some sort of action happens soon.

I think what I hate most about English classes is that you can’t read books at your leisure. I really think I would be loving Jane Austin’s wit and dialog if it weren’t for the fact that I have to read 23 chapters by Wednesday. Which makes it something of a chore.

“This book is soooo boring. It just a bunch of people going on and on about marriage. Why would anyone want to get married? If you’re married it means your, like, old. And you can’t date other people! Can you imagine having to spend all day with the same boy? And if you’re just with one boy, then how are you going to get him to give you presents? All of my boyfriends know they have to do a little better than the competition. If I just dated one, I’d be lucky to get a greeting card. And no one is impressed with a greeting card. If I went to the Fashion Club and said ‘This guy just sent me a greeting card,’ they’d tell me to dump him! How expensive a date is, is just a sign that the boy cares about you. I was telling Sandy yesterday that I knew Joey or possibly Jeffy… well it might have been Jamie… I’m fairly certain it was one of them, but anyways I was telling Sandy about how he took me to Chez Parrie and bought me lobster. Of course I didn’t eat it, well much of it, do you know how much fat is in lobster? Well Sandy’s last date also took her to Chez Parrie, but he only got her stake. Well I can tell you Sandy dumped him right then and there, do you have any idea how not cute eating chewy meat is? But I certainly didn’t want to rub Sandy’s face in the fact that my date was so much better than hers.

“Now why would anyone want to kill a bird? They make those pretty songs. And if you get a cute one, they make great accessories. Except you have to find someone to clean up after them. Dealing with another creature’s… stuff is just not done! I once worked in a pet shop and those animals… do their business all over the place. And why would anyone want to work anyways? I mean if there is one thing in that first book got right it is that you should find a guy and have him work for you. You know what work does to your complexion? My pores are tiny, but if I had to work they would get all gunky and I’d break out.”

I love the dog I do, but I can't wait for Tuesday to roll around. It's like having a baby. Either me or my roommate have to be home at all times, which sucks. We tried putting him in his cage, but he began barking, and crying something fierce so we let him out right away. We could try both leaving, and let him have the house to himself but who knows what he will do in that situation.

So long since I`ve been to first base.

But you walked out my life with my CD collection.

They are doing a cowboy musical version of The Merry Wives Of Windsor here at one of the theaters. It's called Lone Star Love or, The Merry Wives Of Windsor Texas and it stars Randy Quaid. Weird.

"A new American musical en route to Broadway sets Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor in the Wild West. Confederate "Colonel" John Falstaff, played by Randy Quaid, slathers his charms on the wives of two wealthy cattle ranchers, with an eye on their husbands' land and money. But who’s fooling whom? The acclaimed Red Clay Ramblers (the jazz-rock-blues string band behind Fool Moon) — onstage as Falstaff's sidekicks — provide a stampede of foot-stompin' tunes to dirt-kickin' dances. Lone Star Love packs Texas-size laughs, wily women, family feuds, country ballads and a yodeling cowboy into a fun-loving night of musical merriment."

I don't know if they say "Ho" in that one though.

By Friday I have to read:

Chapters 1-12 of Pride and Prejudice (Vol. 2)

Act III of Macbeth

Chapters 1-12 of John Steinbeck’s In Dubious Battle

The last half of To Kill a Mockingbird

Plus write three three page papers.

I love Macbeth. But why are you only watching the final act of Mel Gibson's movie?

I just read To Kill a Mockingbird for the first time. They never had us do it in school. Great book.

If I am ever allowed to reproduce and I am having a son, I am naming him Atticus.

I don't want to sound like an elitist, but one has to gain a certain degree of sophistication and maturation before taking on classical literature.

Last name isn't Johnson, is it?

That is the thing, with a last name like Johnson I want to give my children more unique first names. I have gotten in trouble in the past when I was mistaken for another Terry or Terence Johnson. I have had police at my door at 6 am looking for a Terry Johnson and I have had threatening calls from somebody that was owed money from a Terry Johnson.

As soon as they got here they were playing with the dog and having a good time. They even had Jake doing stuff I didn't know he could do like sit, lie down and give me paw. and the other is a very twisted version of the wizard of oz...there are elements from "wicked" the musical and novel that i really like and the 1939 movie is so rich w/ all kinds of subtext that i thought it would be fun to play around w/ those themes as actual context.

what were you up to bright boy??

I was at a birthday party for my friend Courtney. Since she lives in Akron and I can't drive she picked me up at three and I helped her get everything ready. We also stopped at Dairy Queen for some blizzards.

Together we made some salsa, and I learned that chopping onions and cilantro on top of each other is probably not a good idea.

While Courtney was showering her ex-boyfriend Matt came over. Matt is super cute and super nice. And I sat on the counter while he made guacamole. Then when we were done Courtney showed us the world's most broken down rusted out grill that she was intending to cook on. Naturally it needed a new propane tank so Matt and I went to the world's worst Kmart to get one.

Now having worked in Kmart, I was pissed off at how poorly this store was run. First off their garden doors were locked which is a HUGE no-no. Secondly we had to go all the way to the front desk to request a tank exchange. Thirdly despite telling four people we wanted a tank exchange no one would ring it up. We wound up going out side to find some dude getting out a new tank for us. They seemed bound and determined for us not to pay.

When we got back people started to arrive, but Matt and I went the pyromaniac rout and lit the bonfire and then he nearly burnt my arm off trying to light the grill. Since the starter was broken we were out there with one of those things you light candles with. He kept saying "Jab it deeper! Jab it deeper!" and I foolishly did. And so when the massive pocket of gas finally ignited there was a rather large burst of flame.

Then we went inside and I sort of mingled for awhile. Everyone there was really cool and it wasn't all couplely like I expected. Even the couples who were there were really good about being separate. And despite a lot of Courtney's high school friends being around, I never felt excluded from anything.

Lots of alcohol later (including far too many Jell-O shots) I somehow got talked into reenacting how lost my virginity to the disbelief of my audience. The worst part being I was completely sober. I had less than half a Jell-O shot when I was doing it.

More alcohol and we all played Apples to Apples. Until three in the morning rolled around and hitched a ride home. Great night.

Now I am back in Savannah, smiling and resting as tomorrow is the first day of the quarter, and work. I feel recharged and confidant I can take on all my woes again. I needed this time away.

I missed my people, but dial up is horrible, so I gave up before it started. I got a lot to catch on, so please bear with me as I try to get to everyone.

Did a lot of dating, visits, and activities. I was so busy I forgot all about the dramas in my life.
