i love that commercial...and yet i can't seem to remember what the product for it is...
It's a cell phone commercial. This bigwig is talking about how his new phone has free this and free that and it's his way of sticking it to the man. Then an employee reminds him that he IS the man.

...well, I've been having some problems lately. Emotional ones and such, I don't wanna get into the details and all, so don't worry ... it's nothing anywhere near as bad as Lesta Rhymes not being able to bust a move or like that ... so anyways, Kris has been teaching me all sortsa Ninja meditation stuff and all ... and she's gunna try hypnosis on me in order to help me sort out what's bothering me.
And end with naked yoga,I bet.
Lucky you...

Nah. It ended with me feeling relaxed, and a little better about myself. I was afraid she was gunna hypnotize me into acting like a chicken or something, but she didn't do that. She's actually pretty good at this sorta stuff ... or maybe I'm just a good subject.
The naked twister is later tonight, though.

By increasing the homosexualization of this thread, we increas the homosexualization of this board, which increases the homosexualizaton of Gail's work (if possible), which increases the homosexualization of the comic book industry, which increases the homosexualization of the movie industry which leads to the total corruption of society.

Point taken. I did want to share my art with my family/friends as my artwork is very important to me. I didn't like the idea of having my family not being included, but I can't change people's attitudes. Stacy,
Nice stuff. I modeled for figure drawing classes off and on for something like five years, so I've got a pretty good eye for talent these days. Got so that I sneezed black from all the charcoal dust in the air and had to remember not to wear socks to and from class because they'd be black on the bottom. I swear I could teach the damn class - except I'd feel weird wearing clothes.
Question: are your figures purposely elongated? There's a lot of line in most of the full figures, without a lot of curve. Just curious.
Love the color, btw.

Returning to college. Which means that I will probably attend my campus’s gay group. (But don’t ever tell them I called them that.) Sometime during the mid 90’s they decided that calling themselves “Campus Gays” was not inclusive enough. So they switched the name to “Campus LBGT.” Which no one liked so almost immediately it became “LBGT Crusade.” This lasted for a short period until some wise person pointed out that “Crusade” had religious overtones. So they went back to “Campus LBGT.” Which lasted until several lesbians had a fit that they were still excluding people. Such as people who were unsure of their sexual orientation and might be experimenting with lesbianism, but didn’t want to be labeled as a lesbian, and didn’t want to be labeled bisexual so they naturally had to accommodate these people and so became “Campus LBGTQ.” Now since they were dragging half the alphabet with them they could get back to the important business of fixing the other half of the title that no one liked. So they changed their name to “The LBGTQ Alliance.” At which point a bunch of gay men got pissed and claimed they were being discriminatory and exclusionary to their heterosexual female friends who occasionally attended meetings. For a while it was almost “The LBGTQS Alliance” but rather than that they decided to break up. Well to be fair the seemingly incurable discrimination of the group was just one reason for the big break up. There were plenty of other reasons. But since there must be a campus gay group they reformed and spent three weeks of vicious bickering over what to call themselves. Meanwhile several other people created the “Straight Allies.” Yes, that is right, a bunch of straight people were doing more for the gays (GASP! I was exclusitory) than the actual gay (I DID IT AGAIN) group. Eventually they settled on “Pride!” since it was as vague and ambiguous as possible. Which was good since the new mission statement was about protecting and promoting sexual minorities. Which when asked what sexual minorities are the answer is “Anyone who does not subscribe to the heteronormative lifestyle.” Otherwise known as everyone on the planet. A suitably useless mission statement for a suitably useless group. The best part being depending upon when any campus materials were written you get like five different names for the group.
Sadly though they have a monopoly on any sort of gay social interaction on campus. Any other group gets rather savagely crushed.

My campus struggled with getting a GLBT org started for years. Finally, they went with the "relative" mainstream and got a Gay Straight Alliance chapter. It's doing well from what my friends in the group tell me.
Although, I guess, since I got a t-shirt and participated in the Day of Silence with them, I'm part of the group too.

Damn, sneaky bitches went and turned me into an activist! :D ;)
Hehe! I STARTED as an activist when I discovered I was gay ... well, I was bi back then, and I had a relative who was a GLAAD person, so he always took me wherever there was some march or activity somewhere. But nowadays, the peopleI knew in the cause ... they seem ... weird. Like they've gone over the edge somehow. I can't really explain it.

Yeah. Sk's never really gone for the "loud and proud" thing either and she's been totally out since shortly after she realized it. I think it's her strange fear of bull-dykes, many of whom seem to enjoy doing that sort of thing.
But that does seem to happen in just about any movement. You've got the mainstream folks - of the movement, I mean - who would dearly love to see results and are more than willing to work toward them. But you've also got the militant people who end up being the ones who are most visible. Luckily, as more and more people either come out or come over to the side of believing in equality for all, the "loud and proud" crowd (ain't that poetic?) won't be the only faces seen and voices heard.
I look at it this way: I'm all for pride and equal rights, but my personal life is just that. What happens in my bedroom, stays in my bedroom.
Well, okay, sometimes it does spread to other rooms in the house.

Any other group gets rather savagely crushed.
and this is why i'm not a joiner...

Point taken. I did want to share my art with my family/friends as my artwork is very important to me. I didn't like the idea of having my family not being included, but I can't change people's attitudes. In all honesty I am positive if I make any type of success of myself, I will be told I did exclude them. Family is crazy.
BTW if I ever do a showing in Philly, I am so finding you so we can go cause all sorts of hell in your town.

Warning: Boring description of my day with little entertainment value. Only read if you are interested in how I spent my Tuesday.
Today was a hard day. Not a bad day mind you, but hard.
I woke up at 4:30 am two hours earlier than usual. Put my new suit, selected by Hello Kitty Kat and Ninja Kris, in a bag and went to the North Side of Chicago dressed in summer clothes after eating a chicken sandwich. I met my dad there with his pick up truck and up and we both began busting our asses our asses helping my brother and his girl move from a stdio apartment to a 1 bed room apartment overlooking the beach and Lake Michigan.
At 9:00 am I went to my brothers house showed and dressed up in my suit. My dad took to Downtown dropped me off for my interview. The interview went great, but there are two points that might not get me hired. The first is that I will become a lawyer in four years, which means that I will be leaving the company in a few years. The second is that I'm overqualified and they are interested in having me work in a more challenging higher level legal position.:) I will know one way or the other in a few days.
After the interview my dad took two fucking hours to pick up up outside in a fucking suit, because he couldn't find where he dropped me off due to all the one way streets. A homeless guy, the first one I've ever seen, kept asking me to help him. I kept telling him i had no cash on me, but that wasn't good enough. A kind sexy as hell stranger told him to fuck off, and that was that. Then I had wild sex on the street with said stranger. At least I did in my imagination:mad:
Around 1:30 we went back to my brothers place and, in my suit, we moved all his stuff out. We were done around 5:30 and I just got home. All my clothes are dirty, but thank god I have a washer and drier in my condo.:)
Now I'm about to kick back, play a little Xenosaga 2 and do the laundry. When my clothes are dry, I still have to do my two hour cardio work out.

As shocking as it sounds, she was a blond goddess. Think Wonder Girl in her early twenties, and you have a description woman. I profoundly regret not making some sort of play, even if she is so far out of my league I need the Hubble Telescope just to see the ball park. Who knows, if she had cataracts or something I could have gotten her phone. Her real phone number that is.

...and you didn't suggest "Homosexualization" as a name?!?
The next time it comes up I shall.
The problem with the group is that it is an activist group with nothing to be active about. There is no discrimination on campus, and basically nothing we as a group can do off campus. So they are endlessly searching for things to be upset and protest about. For example...
One of our cafeterias had a female to male transsexual employee. And he got fired... possibly. According to him he got fired, according to the cafeteria manager he was only hired for a specific period of time.
Well according to the employee he was the victim of vicious homophobic harassment. For half a week after he got fired but before the next Pride! meeting everyone was talking about this supposed horrible incident of homophobia.
Well it turned out a co-worker had said "This sandwich is so gay." And the employee through a bitch fit and forced everyone to have a sensitivity meeting.
(This was doubly funny since literally right before that came out I had been telling my friend that "this meeting is so gay.")
Well he insisted he was discriminated against. And after his story was over I stood up and said that I had been working for the college for over a year, and I didn't believe discrimination played ANY part in it. At which point everyone politely explained to me that gays don't lie and that gays are always victims, except in many more words.
Eventually the entire group decided that they would boycott that cafeteria. Since do to the nature of our food plans a boycott doesn't matter, there are only ten people in the meeting, and as it is the only cafeteria open all night everyone is going to break the boycott sooner or later.

Stacy,
Sorry for the delayed response. Putting the final parts of my presentation and paper together. I am so needing some de-stressing, but not tonight. :(
Some of the work is stylized, others were "happy accidents."

I know I'm getting into the tail end of this conversation, so forgive me if I missed something, but maybe you can broaden your boundries to issues outside campus if you are looking for things to be active about. Maybe hold fundraisers for specific causes, that kind of thing. Instead of beating a dead horse, and that's what it sounds like your describing here, you can help other chapters on campuses that have more discrimination. I'm a big fan of "controlling your zone," (and is it sad that so many of my philosophical catchphrases come from Chuck D?), but when your zone is pretty much on lockdown, it might help if you make the circle of influence a little bigger. Just a thought.
As a sidenote, I'm always impressed with the activism that comes from the many Browncoat chapters across the country. They seem to always have a fun time while being active, holding Serenity screenings for Equality Now, for example. I don't think they'll mind if you shamelessly steal ideas from other organizations. :D

Oh and P.S. Chin up Lester! I don't know if I've ever gotten a job the first time around. Usually I have to interview 2-3 places first.
I remember the VERY FIRST place I applied for a job at ... the local IHOP. They turned me down! I've never eaten there since and I hope they ALL go out of business! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

Heh, that's great.
It's kind of sad when it seems like Kevin Federline would be the better parent of the two.
