Then buy A Tribute to Jack Johnson by Miles Davis. It's amazing jazz/rock, and it's something different to listen to from Miles, as opposed to the often mentioned Bitches' Brew and Kind of Blue.

John McLaughlin, in particular, is very impressive and unpredictable on this album. Apparently before the album was recorded, Miles told McLaughlin to play the guitar like he didn't know how to play it. And the result is quite unusual and pleasing, both sophisticated and amateurish.

I just got this album too. It's awesome, all right, and the first time the John McLaughlin love I've heard from guitarists has made any sense to me. (Mahavishnu Orchestra is boring, man.) Everyone talks about Bitches Brew, but this is where jazz-rock really starts to work, I think.

Don't get me wrong, Bitches' Brew is incredible, but this is just something different for people to listen to.

Bass lines rule on this album, too. Especially in the second song (there are only two songs, everyone).

Sounds cool. I'm just getting into Jazz (started off with Kind of Blue, of course) so I'll definitely keep this in mind as I continue to explore more of the genre.

Jack Johnson is a great, great album. I love Bitches Brew, of course, but I think I like Jack Johnson more. While we've got Miles Davis and fusion on the brain, what about In a Silent Way? A little more low-ley than the others, but a classic in its own right.
