GDT lets us in on some pretty sweet movie information...

John Hurt is back for a cameo.

Myers is not back (see Rupie in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN in the London stage!!).

Universal has NOT authorized a brief Kroenen cameo/ epilogue- yet.

Johann will be played by John Alexander (body) and Tomas Kretschmann (voice).

Dougie will play 4 characters.

Brian Steele will play 4 characters.

Anna Walton is the actress playing Princess Nuala.

Luke Goss plays Prince Nuada. Silverlance.

Roy Dotrice plays King Balor

The rest of the story can be found here - http://www.aintitcool.com/node/32889

More from GDT:

Thomas is Johann's voice but we won't get to SEE him until -if there is ever- the next installment as some of his past come stumbling down on him (along with some German Fellas from the past).

For now the voice is what Thomas is doing...

Luke plays the Prince- whose complete name is Prince Nuada, he of the Silverlance. One character.

Doug plays:

Abe
Angel of death
The Chamberlain
maybe- Wizard (unscripted).

Brian

Troll
Mr Wink
Map Shop Owner
Fragglewump

I'm looking forward to seeing Johann on screen, and I like Tomas Kretschmann, but I have to wonder: why include him, since they already gave his coolest power to Abe in the first movie? If Abe's empathic (or whatever it's called), then it doesn't really seem like they need Johann.

I see it as a good excuse to tone down Abe's psychic powers and give him a gun. That, and Johann can communicate with the dead.

That and I want to see as many freaks on screen as GDT will give me.

I've no doubt they've come up with enough change to the character to distinguish him from Abe.

I am so excited about this. :D
Johanns awesome, I don't care what power they give him its going to be great just to see him in a film. :D

^Agreed. The HB2 synopsis described Johann as a "mystic" rather than an empath, so I think that may be the change. As long as he's a gentlemanly German guy in a bag I'll be happy.

and another update from GDT...

We JUST finished the first day of shooting.

A few things-

2) Danny Elfman IS going to score HELLBOY II and I feel privileged. I have worked with Marco Beltrami many times and will work with him soon enough but I believe we will have a beautiful score with Elfman, whom I admire greatly (in fact the "Title sewquence" music cue had the "Ta-de-dum-ta-de-dum" rythm by explicit request by me in an atempt to make it kind of Elfmanesque) and with whom I share a dark view of the world.

3) In the first HELLBOY film we had about 8 creatures (total, between CGI and animatronics/prosthetics) but in this one we have around 30 or more and the emphasis is still heavily on a 50% 50 % balance with CGI as enhancemnet or as a choice but not THE choice.

David's Dad (form DDT FX) has undergone a delicate surgical procedure, please send positive thoughts his way. David and Montse are a beautiful couple and deserving of all the joy and happiness.

I'll check in again soon enough- I hope...

Will Roger or Benjamin Daimio be in this film?

ZombieHound

No chance on Daimio, and Roger won't be in the films. It's disappointing, but Del Toro said it would have been difficult to put the Homunculus in with his story being similar to Hellboy's. I'd love to see Roger, but I'll take Johann Kraus and be happy.

I know Roger won't be and I doubt Daimio will either, but you never know. Red hasn't met Johann in the comics yet they'll be in the movie together.

I'm pretty sure the script was finished before Daimio appeared in the comics. I think he would have been short changed anyway with all the characters that are already appearing in the film.

True. Maybe they could make a B.P.R.D. movie sometime, with Red leaving the Bureau at the end of this film or possibly a third one. Then we can see guys like Ben and Lobster Johnson!

i'm the happiest person today :D Danny Elfman! daaaang! his work would be perfect for Hellboy, I hope its close to what he did on Batman, Dick Tracy and Edward Scissorhands. :D
