Who should make up the next Brotherhood of Mutants? I think the Brotherhood should reappear around X-Men 500 and be as badass as ever, but that is just my opinion.

Mastermind II! Radius! Blob! Pyro! Phantazia! Wither! Vague (of the Hell's Belles)!

I tried to keep the classic members while putting some relatives into some older, deceased member's spots Young Avengers style. Added bonus Wither to bring all the boys to the yard and Vague as a quirky new addition.

(There was a really good reason why Radius would work with The Blob, but I forget what it was. ;))

EDIT: And Clay Aiken-Caliban!

Mystique, who returns to her former teammates after her stint with the X-Men. She realizes that she can never truly be Rogue's mother and thus goes back to her roots.

Mastermind II, who takes Destiny's place as Mystique's "second-in-command." I loved their interaction during the X-Corps storyline, and Mastermind makes a perfect addition.

Avalanche, because he's been dreadfully underused in the past years. He's insanely powerful if used correctly, and I don't see Mystique leading a Brotherhood without him in it.

Phantazia, if she were somehow repowered. I'd also put Blob in the group, but he made his place with X-Cell. Phantazia works a lot like Mastermind, except more powerful and mysterious.

Toad, because I love how Mastermind II is head over heels for him. I don't particularly care for the character, but he fits with the rest of them, despite him being the weakest and most expendable.

Ruckus, because obviously Sinister isn't using him anymore. He worked for Mystique before, so it'd work well and add more male members to the group. And you know Mystique loves the gays.

Fever Pitch, because he worked for Mystique in the X-Corps and he's still powered, so... why not? Besides, Pyro's gone...

The group would need a powerhouse, so I'd say Frenzy, but she wouldn't work for Mystique after the events in X-Men Annual #1. I'd also love to have Pyro back, so if they found a way to ressurrect him, I'd bring him back in place of Fever Pitch. I could see other characters like Erg working as lower-ranking members of the Brotherhood. And I'd love it if Shinobi Shaw were somehow tricked to join the group. Since Faded chose Vague, if I had to pick a member of the Hell's Belles to join, I'd pick Briquette so she could be the powerhouse. Abraham Kieros might work well, also... I could see him defending mutant rights. Crimson Commando wouldn't work well, since he's not a mutant.

Selene reforms the Brotherhood as an organization of mutants primarily for her own purposes and amusement.

Wither is her number one boy toy and second in command by virtue of his favor in Selene's eyes.

Shinobi Shaw is basically Selene's mind controlled bitch, mainly to spite both him and his father.

Avalanche finally overcomes his sorrow at the death of Pyro and begins a new ambiguous friendship with Ruckus.

Neurotap, Dragoness, and Unuscione - the D-list ladies who make up Selene's primary front line fighting force.

I'm totally thinking my team in terms of post-mutant repowerment. I'd like a breakout for Phantazia, a vengeful Radius, and the X-Corp crew getting together again in the wake of a ever-fluctuating mutant population; racing to ensure the scales don't tip in the human's favor again.

I'd add in some MLF ladies or Nasty Boys, but I'm thirstin' for a little merge of the two and a re-emergence of the characters.

Brotherhood of Evil Mutants plot

A band of mutants who are anti-registration and are sick of standing on the sidelines so they are going to war with anyone who gets in there way

Leader - Namor - as if there was any doubt Marvel's first anti hero is taking it to the man and has settled on the best team he could get.

Sunfire - Shiro has always been a bit of a tool now he's a bit of a tool with tons of new powers and os ready to take on the big boys.

Wolverine - Yet another team! But in all honesty this one he really fits into. The X-men have been forced to abadon him due to his murder of the Damage Control guy and the New Avengers are acting to much like pussies so its time for Wolverine F$%^ yeah.

<that would be enough for me to buy the book but all teams need new members so...>

Forge - Forge signs up for the registration but after working under Lazar and seeing Tony Starks new plan, all this plus his history with the Nulifier Forge has signed up and is ready to let loose and he has brought two friends.

Shard - She was gone for a while but now she has been brought back and boy is she pissed off that her dear brother didn't bring her back. She's sweet she's holographic and she is going to kick your ass.

Jubilee - repowered through Forge Jubilee is on the run and allthough she isn't as angry as the other mutants she is also indebted to them.

Maddie Pryor/Jean Grey - A Jean clone type person shows up, the team doesn't know who she is but do know that she is mega powerful and you don't fight Sentry without megapower.

Polaris - Shows up both as a favor to Forge and Shard and based on the fact that she is wanted for murder she is ready to fight and ready to take it to the man

Future members - Magneto, Quicksilver, Crystal, Vision, Mimic, Persuassion, Whirlwind

I love yours, but where's Avalanche?!

And ironically, Mastermind is the one who's in love with Toad. She was macking all up on him in her fantasies right before the X-Corps storyline.

I was thinking of how neat it'd be if Magneto re-did the Brotherhood and created a massive army full of lesser known mutants from various villain teams (MLF, Nasty Boys, Acolytes, etc.) Maybe I'll come up with a picture-post like you did, Faded. <3

Yeah, I mixed up Mastermind and Toad with my question. I'll check it out, I don't even remember Toad being in Casey's UXM run.

I love your Magneto idea and thought of something similar before! It'd be a great for a one-time thing, but I love having so many various mutant villain groups. Its just too bad they often don't get used, so your idea would actually put them into use in a very major way.

POST PICS! Sorry mines are blurry.

Exodus (leader)
Mastermind II
Blob
Toad
Caliban
Avalanche
Mystique (who betrays the team eventually)
Sabretooth (who doesn't give a crap about mutantkind, is just there to kill everybody that comes in his way)

Magneto helps (meaning: bosses them around) every now and then, but he's not a member, and sometimes is helping the X-men, the others trying to kick their asses, that's how he works better, as his own man. Quicksilver tries to join, but they turn him down.

That would be my more expansive Brotherhood of Mutants. I loved the idea of all these mutants allying themselves with Magneto during Eve of Destruction, but unfortunately, they were all faceless nobodies other than Random and Blob. If they re-did it, I'd love for them to use characters like these if only to be able to see them all again. Some of them haven't been seen since the 80's.

Currently, I think Quicksilver belongs with Magneto and the others since he's spending most of his time trying to restore the mutant population. Exodus and Frenzy would be Magneto's other generals, since they seem to be the most devoted to him. Polaris, Colossus, Sunfire, and Chamber all make sense to ally themselves with Magneto. Sunfire maybe not so much, but I think he fits with Mags moreso than with the X-Men.

Most of the former Brotherhood members are always forgotten when new Brotherhoods are formed (ie Morrison's crap Brotherhood and Austen's even worse version), so they need to return. Acolytes should also come back and assimilate themselves with the Brotherhood. Other characters like Abraham Kieros, Shinobi Shaw, and the MLF-ers make less sense, but they're not doing anything at the moment and that'd give them a good chance to shine. Timeshadow and Stinger would be able to return, as I could see Frenzy convincing them to join her side. I wonder how Stinger would be nowadays... still a valley girl? I always thought she was hilaaaarious.

I love it! Hot totem pole.

I definitely like it when teams consist several long-term relationships combined together (like Brotherhood + a couple of Alliance of Evil members --> Frenzy and the Acolytes, etc.).

I definitely see Chamber becoming a villain. It'd be great to turn around a C-List hero's limboed-and-nobody-cares into a villain with abandonment issues . I really need a reason to like Jono again because me and him have been OVER for some time.

And you almost exactly the same headshots that I have for Polaris, Frenzy, Neophyte, and Abey K. In another world, in another life we were meant to be together. <3

Who's the blonde next to Fever Pitch?

Crimson Commando wouldn't work well, since he's not a mutant.

Frank is a mutant, darlin'. His power is basically to stay at the peak of human physical perfection.

just my opinion, as a fan of the character, but i don't think that Commando would have any interest in rejoining the Brotherhood. his friends are all dead. and he's shown himself quite willing to do government work/hunt his own kind, in the past. i could see Frank going 1 of 2 directions: 1) register w/ SHIELD/CSA as a loyal superhuman combatant or 2) go solo because of outrage over Captain America's death. the last option would most likely end with his death, since the government keeps his cybernetics in working condition. they basically own him.

Gamesmaster: He’s perfect for the part of the behind the scenes leader type. For those he couldn’t talk into following him he can just use his powers and make them do what he wants.

Shinobi Shaw: The only one who ever sees the Gamesmaster. He's the Brotherhoods go-between.

Ramrod: He would lead the team in battles
Avalanche: Under used for the last few years. Its time to bring him back.
Fever Pitch: Just cause I miss Pyro.
Mastermind (II): It just seems wrong to have a Brotherhood without a Mastermind on the team
Skids: She will turn her back on the X-men for a handful of magic beans.
Slab: Someone has to fight COLOSSUS.

It's not like the Brotherhood is dependent on Magneto. I don't see why two groups -- who aren't identical -- can't be working for similar goals (or they don't even have to have similar goals).

It's not like the Brotherhood is dependent on Magneto. I don't see why two groups -- who aren't identical -- can't be working for similar goals (or they don't even have to have similar goals).

This is how I feel too.

In my humble opinion:

I see a difference between a new "Brotherhood" and the Acolytes. The Acolytes should be led by Frenzy and Amelia Voght. They represent the mutant extremists, and what they think Magneto should be all about. They would not take kindly to a Magneto who is no longer a mutant, as I've posted before. It doesn't matter to them who Magnus once was, according to his own teachings, if he's no longer a mutant, the Acolytes will reject him.

The Acolytes should be the small army that some of you mentioned. They are the militants. They are the revolutionaries. Cortez created the original group, and the Acolytes sort-of found Magnus, not the other way around. Magneto seemed to prefer they be his mutant community, and (if I remember correctly) the more extreme, political, and violent Acolyte actions were organized by other Acolytes, when Magneto was thought dead, then when he was ill and convalescing, and then when he was comatose and mind-wiped.

Before Magneto War, Mags was alone, with a robot for company -- he always seemed more comfortable as patriarch of a smaller, more tightly knit group, or a family-like group. During Magneto War, some of his own Acolytes tried to escape and join Xavier. Afterwards, when he was ruling Genosha, it seems to me the Acolytes were once again relegated to a more socio-political mutant community.

On the other hand (to return to the topic) a new "Brotherhood" should be FAMILY. Not the crazy Silver Age collection of Magneto and his henchmen, two of whom happened to be his children and he didn't know it. But a real family.

The family idea comes from what has happened in the books so far. Mutants are going to find out that it was Wanda and Pietro who are responsible for Decimation; the truth is already seeping out. Magnus will not allow Wanda to be threatened, let alone attacked by the militant mutants, including his own former followers. He and Pietro will for the first time in their lives, HAVE to form an alliance, and maybe Wanda will finally want to join them as a family unit. I know JMC wants Lorna to be involved too.

But what a group they would make. A true family that is trying to get along and protect one another, except they would find themselves by virtue of who they are, and what they have done, and who they have pissed off, in the adversarial or "villain" role. The possibilities are many; what kind of philosophy would they have? What would be their goal? Would Magnus be a patriarch, or would he cool it, and back off, letting Pietro and Wanda have more say so (which would have to be the case for this attempt at getting along to work).

Others who might be associated with this family, could include some of Magnus' former New Mutants students who have become disillusioned and disaffected, and a couple of the Genoshan survivors who might want a "family" to belong to, like Wicked. These mutants or former mutants would not want to join a socio-political type organization, with a hierarchy and armies and "leaders" and "followers." They would want to create a family that offers support and protection and loyalty, and replaces the "leader" with the pater familias, Magneto. (Of course, in a Magneto family style "Brotherhood" I wonder how fine the line would be between pater familias and BOSS.)

Whereas the House of M reality was a wish of the Scarlet Witch's, a dream, that forced Magneto to play a role, like everyone else. This would be the real deal. Magneto and his children would finally, voluntarily, try and get along in a family group.

There have been family adversaries before, in history and literature. But I don't think there has ever been a Family as Adversary or Villain before in comic books! And this new Brotherhod wouldn't be something writers had to create from scratch, or hold together with staples and tape to make it work. The elements are already there, waiting to be used. Before the events of House of M and Decimation, I wouldn't have thought Magneto and his children would ever, could ever, reconcile and get along. But now, given Pietro's state of mind, and where he stands in relation to the heroes, both mutant and non-mutant, and Wanda's current status and her need for a family group, and Magnus' current status, I think this kind of Brotherhood is possible.

Whatever happens regarding a Brotherhood or the Acolytes, I definitely don't want to see the same old stuff like from "Eve of Destruction," and "Fatal Attractions," etc etc again, at least not with Magneto. I can only hope something different will be done than the usual "Magneto shows up every couple of years in full costume with white blazing eyes to rant and rave and kidnap Xavier, declare war, and get defeated by the X-Men."

As I said, the Acolytes are cool. But they don't need Magneto as their leader, especially since it's in the nature of revolutionary movements that a new generation of leaders turns on the original leadership and purges occur.

Oh, and if fans (especially AVENGERS fans) get all upset because Wanda and Pietro actually want to be with their father, and form a new Brotherhood with him, I would add, of course the Brotherhood family thing probably wouldn't last. Eventually Magnus, who is a very troubled man, and his children will begin to experience conflicts and things probably, eventually, wouldn't end well.

We need a "Make Your Own X-Cell Lineup" thread now.

I would totally love your team for X-Cell, melonhead.

OH AND SPEAKING OF VILLAINESSES NYSSY LOVES, YOU SHOULD PICK UP NEW WARRIORS BECAUSE Anaconda makes an apperance. :D

Loves ya! <3

Well I suppose it is a bit X-factor centric. But that's because I love that book SO much I guess. :o

I just think we've seen Quickie get more villainous over the past few years. Let's see him go the whole hog and inherit his father's mantle of mutant supremacy. I can see him getting all delusional and imposing himself as the messianic saviour of mutantkind.

It's not like the Brotherhood is dependent on Magneto. I don't see why two groups -- who aren't identical -- can't be working for similar goals (or they don't even have to have similar goals).

If there wasn't no Magneto, there would be no Brotherhood. If they have goals that relate to his vision, find the Acolytes.

sooo, what would the goals/modus operandi of the new Brotherhood be? it might help to know that before making a proper line-up. Mystique's motivations might be a great bit different from someone like Senyaka. is the "Evil" part still a ruse? are htey out to liberate mutants? are they political activists? just terrorists? group of mutant bullies who mix it up with the X-Men? etc.

anyways, i'm nominating Seamus Melloncamp and Shortpack for membership.

Faded's Ideal Acolytes v. Brotherhood:

I would like to see the Acolytes become more the "X-Men" or "New Mutants" of Magneto's cause; more like his students. I definitely get the feel that the majority of the mainstay members--even bloodthirsty Unuscione--are still fresh minded and in need of guidance. I'd definitely have them side with Magneto, but have a loose understanding with the X-Men as well and perhaps be taught/led by Polaris and Frenzy. They'd perform the less grittier work for their cause, but train for the prospective future of being promoted to the Brotherhood.

As for the Brotherhood, I definitely see them continuing to fight for supremacy and doing it at any means necessary. I see them making the political moves and doing the hardcore action that I can't see some of the Acolytes doing (at least not yet).

That's how I'd do it anyway.

I love the book too so I also love your lineup!

I definitely want to see a Quicksilver led team of depowered mutants become a fixture against X-Factor and the X-Men (that is unless mutants are repowered via future events) be it X-Cell, the Brotherhood, or the Brotherhood of Former Mutants. He's a great, terrifying antagonist and he definitely has a lot to offer to various limboed mutants that join his cause.

Sure, Magneto started the original Brotherhood, but the rest had nothing to do with him. They don't need any links to him at all. I'm sure plenty of radical mutants might be scared away from the Acolytes by their historically-wacky cultish atmosphere, and would rather hang out with other groups who are radical, but not cult-like.

Magneto named them but i have to give it to Mystique for putting them on the map.

Cool! I don't really like Silver Samurai, but I think that's a pretty nice lineup, D. :)
