I wonder what the free gift is that comes along with it?

Probably a ghost of lobster johnson. They've been trying to get rid of that thing for ever it seems.

I'm kidding of course. I have no clue.

A great gift for that Abe fan in
your life.

How many of these are they going to allow you to buy in SD? I want one, but two of my friends have expressed interest.

Its lame this didn't get a wider release. In fact in downright sucks that Mezco has dropped the Hellboy line.

I wanted a mezco Rasputin. I wanted some cool mezco ZINCO stuff. I wanted a mezco frog monster, mezco corpse a mezco hecate... to name just a few.

Curse you mesco... I'm not going to buy anymore mezco hellboy stuff.... oh... I forgot... you don't want to sell them to me anyway :0(

I completely respect your right to say what you're saying, Hellcow. Please keep in mind though that Mezco is a business and the Hellboy line wasn't selling very well. This is not Mezco's fault by any stretch. If people were purchasing the figures it's almost a guarantee we'd be getting a series 3, 4 and beyond. It really just comes down to supply and demand and I personally have no rancor directed towards Mezco, even though I understand that you do. I do empathize Hellcow, but let's be fair on some level to Mezco.

Yeah, if you really want to get mad at 'em, complain about the lack of Buzzard from The Goon line!

I'm happy that Mezco was considerate enough to offer up Abe... While I would have loved a third or fourth series, we got all the major characters up to Plague of Frogs... That's pretty darn good, wouldn't you say?

Fingers crossed for Frog Monster exclusive next year!

I, too, am happy we're getting an Abe, while disappointed we won't see a Frog Monster.

Still, we got the core BPRD members, all wonderfully sculpted and detailed. I got an HB, a Lobster Johnson, a Liz, an Abe, and even a Kriegsaffe and Von Klempt, which I wanted more than the Frog Monster or Rasputin.

Mezco is just as much to blame for the failure of the line as the customers are. They made NO attempt to bring in people who aren't already fans. If I didn't know Hellboy at all and I saw this stuff I'd say "wtf is this?!" and probably pass. They should have included comic book reprints with the figures so that people can get into the series who aren't already.

We did get some VERY awesome figures: kriegaffe, LoJo, Johann.

But we missed two highly requested figures: Rasputin and the frog monster. A 3-pack with Ras and 2 frog monsters would have been perfect. Abe shouldn't have taken this long and we should have gotten Rasputin and frog monsters before we got the kriegaffe and von klempt.

I was assuming that Mezco would make these available to the public sooner rather than later, and I'm happy to see I was right! Thanks, Norrin for pointing out the availability.

As much as I like Abe, $25 is NOT a price I'd be willing to pay for an action figure. (Sorry, I learned collecting frugality from my father)

I'm going to have to regretfully say 'Pass' to this one. =(

Maybe I'll ask my pal Donut if she can get me one if she's able to go to SDCC, that is, if Mezco will be selling any there.

They tack on $6 for shipping and then tax and handling charges. $35 total to get it shipped. I'm not happy it's so pricey but I want the figure and it's the last one from Mezco. A bit of a dissapointment but I'd be even more disappointed to not have Abe next to Hellboy. *sigh* I just hope someone picks up the series again and does it in this style and scale. It seems doubtful, but then again, Hasbro did that with the Marvel figures. They aren't exactly the same but they are close enough. I still want Rasputin and a frog monster dammit.

this is the last one they're doing? that's a shame. i really like my Hellboy and Roger figures, and i would love to have seen Hecate, Mohlomi, the goblin, Prof. Bruttenholm...

A tad expensive for a piece of plastic to be sure, but WHAT a piece of plastic this will end up being! Small price to pay in my mind to get one of the more anticipated Mezco Hellboy figures ever.

I'm hoping for another multimedia extravaganza when the second Hellboy movie rolls around. I want to see all of the Hellboy and BPRD TPBs on store shelves, including (by then) Darkness Calls. I want to see another TPB released just for the occasion, a short story collection featuring a variety of guest artists and canon, Mignola-written stories (and a Mignola-illustrated short!).

And to tie this into the topic at hand, I'd like to see Mezco respond to all the Hellboy attention by reviving the action figure line for retail. Let's see a Series 3, with the SDCC Abe, a Rasputin (with twin mech-gloves), Frog Monster, and... hmm... how about Anung un Rama as the obligatory Hellboy?

Yeah. I'd like that!

True... but given that I'm struggling with many financial responsibilities at this moment (college, my car, trying to move out by 2010, ect. all), spending $25 on a toy right now just seems kinda... wasteful. Unlike most posters here, I'm not exactly in a position where I have enough disposable income from my job for stuff like this. (Heck, I can't even afford one Hellboy TPB most of the time!)

It may seem like I'm scorning what I can't have, but... I'm *really* heartbroken I'm not going to be able to afford this. =( Maybe I'll get lucky and land one on eBay in the future, I dunno. Fingers crossed, I guess.

An observation....Mezco should release a Hellboy [Mignola] comic version figure each year. The SDCC is a perfect time and opportunity to launch, with the Abe figure officially ''sold out'' [on Mezco's site] the popularity of this line is still evident....I'm prepared to place an order now..... Frog Monsters anyone??.....

Hi jackups. I'm sort of in the same boat, even down to the cost on good old Abe.Concerning Mezco, I think a subscription system for future limited runs could be the answer.... all the best.

They don't have the license anymore. So unless they make a new deal to do that it won't happen.

Marvel Toys is Toy Biz. They did an excellent job. The current crappy figures are by Hasbro. I think you might have your companies a little mixed up.

It's a shame that they are ending this line. They had the most amazing Hellboy sculpts for series 1 (especially the exclusive HB with trench coat), not to mention Kreigaffe. These all had a nice heft to them, and had a nice range of motion (Liz was a bit restricted by her hair I think, but not too bad).

My 18 inch Hellboy (with closed mouth) is pretty much on permanent display.

Series 2 I was a bit cooler on (especially with yet another Hellboy: the odd rocket pack HB)...but I should probably pick them up sometime.

Did anyone buy the 18" Hellboy with rocket pack? Do his legs looks stubby in person?

I did get the most excellent Hellboy and the floating heads fig from Wizard.

Abe looks pretty nice, but $25 plus shipping is way too steep.

Okay, so is this line for real, Poe? I remember seeing pictures of that PITT figure in a Toyfare mag earlier in the year, but I thought it was probably just a really good custom job, and not something we'd ever see at retail. Are these figures actually going to see production, and if so, where will they be showing up (i.e.- comic shops, TRU, etc.)?

They are quite real. PITT will be a "build a figure" and Timmy will come with Judge Dread. I know they'll be at comic shops. Not sure about a TRU release.

They are in this months Toyfare again.

They're real all right. And apparently Marvel Toys has been actively looking for more indie comics licenses, so we should see a sneak preview of wave 3 at SDCC.

As much as I like Mezco's line, I would love having a 6"-scale comic Hellboy to put alongside my Marvel Legends.

Hmm, this does sound interesting. IMO the problem with the ML stuff though has always been the mass market production values- which tend to be all over the place, from great to incredibly sloppy and shoddy. The only qualifiers that will convince me this Marvel Toys line has a shot is consistent quality, consistent (or somewhat) on time delivery, quality control and progress towards updating production values through QA, and an ear towards the fans.

I think most of the companies which have lasted have had a great lineup of characters to start with (which Marvel Toys does), and make sure they have new product rolling out often and lots of it. I doubt these will be wider audience lines (how to sell something like Body Bags to boys age 6-9?), but maybe once the line gains some steam, they might go wider distribution with a lower price point.

Well I broke down and preordered the Abe figure. I was going to skip out seeing that price tag but I know I'll regret it down the road (like Von Klempt).

Mezco charged my card however, depsite saying they wouldn't until the item shipped, so I better get one!

Love that Mignola Abe illo- great striding pose that envokes majesty and reserved regality. Sorry to wax on so, but Mike's artwork tends to do that.

Saw the figure in person today at my comic store. They had some exclusives for sale from SDCC for $40.00. The figure looks very nice and I'll be glad to add it to my comic figure collection to make it as complete as it is going to get apparently. I still wouldn't mind a Kate, Frog Creature, Rasputin's Ghost, and a few others.

I'm anxiously waiting for my Abe to arrive from Mezco.
