malarky

Hey everybody, long time lurker, first time poster. I've read plenty of threads about the Wolverine and Origins books, and I didn't want to start another debate about how good/bad each book is. Everybody's wondering where Jeph Loeb is going with this storyline, and he has said in interviews that he's slowly building up the story and that it will (hopefully) make sense in the end. Like many others I've been following the current Wolverine Arc, and I wanted to share a theory that I haven't seen anywhere else.
Could it be possible that it is as really simple as Sabretooth said to Logan in #50: "You are going to become... me."? Somehow, if Wolverine lets go and finishes off Sabertooth, he will become his worst enemy? Isn't that the also same premise that we've been reading about for the last twenty years or so?
What we know so far is that these lupines have been fighting for quite some time. The "Wolverine-like" lupine, Pup, has killed the "Sabretooth-like" like lupine, Blondie, at least three times. Each instance was at the behest of some third party that Logan describes as a big guy. Wolverine linked the "big guy" as the same person through all three of his encounters.
In the fourth instance, in #52, Wolverine is "recruited" by the Hand to put a stop to Sabretooth by a man whose "Japanese stinks, what is that - an Italian accent?" Later, we are shown "Romulus," the "big guy" again, and I can't help draw a link between this and the Hand recruiter. Now an Italian accent from a pimp is probably a little different from a Latin accent from what may have been a former Emperor, but why the reference to the Italian accent? It could have been any accent in the world...
Also in #53, it appears that Wolverine was stopped from finishing Sabretooth, by what appears to be Romulus' hand why is that? My guess is that the Hand recruiter is somehow connected to Romulus, and is attempting to thwart his plans by having Wolverine kill Sabretooth early. Obviously Romulus was not too happy and put a stop to that.
Somehow, the beef between Pup and Blondie, or Wolverine and Sabretooth, has perpetuated throughout the years. I think that if Wolverine does kill Sabretooth, he will continue that cycle and be the Sabretooth to the next "Wolverine." Whether he will physically transform or not is anybody's guess, but I don't think that's the important part. In order to break this cycle, Wolverine can't kill Sabretooth, somehow Logan is going to have to figure that out before he loses it.
How much does Sabretooth know about all of this? Probably a great deal, since he seems to know about Romulus. I could argue that Sabretooth has had a death wish for quite some time, and he’s practically been begging Logan to kill him. But if my theory is right, Sabretooth has been making Logan’s life miserable to drive him to the breaking point to de-evolve to that animal.
Now in #51, Wolverine thinks that Sabretooth had some help tying him to the top of the plane and piloting the Blackbird. Who would that have been? Am I wrong about Sabretooth’s death wish? Could he have been working all this time to prevent Logan from killing him? Perhaps a group like Weapon X found a way to exploit these two men for their own interests. Or is Romulus the one who is connected to Weapon X and driving the bus? He could be that mysterious father figure for Daken that Cyber is after…
