Just curious, but has there been any offical reaction to Hulk's exile vfrom Shield? Did they sign off on it? I know some people have been saying that Hill bitching to Stark about Hulk means it was an approved op., and that because he told the president about it that it was okayed, but has that been confirmed? Was it a joint op. between Stark et all and Shield, or what? Any offical word?

Only the highest ranking members of SHIELD seem to know about the exile. Clay Quaterman has no idea, and neither do a majority of agents. But yes, SHIELD's highest ranking members condoned the exile.

At the time, or after the fact? It just strikes me as odd that they'd need help with that.

They knew. Read the first Illuminati special. Tony and Maria talk about it.
Certain agents not knowing about it really doesn't mean jack. It's an espionage agency. I'm guessing the left hand frequently doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

IIRC, Maria bitched to him about Hulk, she didn't ask for a plan to get rid of him, did she?
Hell, IIRC, she suggested that Spider-Man murder Green Goblin, and look where he is now ;)

Shield and the President don't know about the Hulks exile.
They're the Illuminati. They don't want anybody to know they exist, let alone that they are making executive decisions. Who knew they were the executive? Nobody knows. They are a secret organisation.
The only one who knows is Humbug.

From what I understand, Stark told the President that he exiled Hulk in Civil War: Battle Damage Report.
...and how the hell does Humbug know?

HFH #10 Humbug gets kidnapped by giant prehistoric bugs and is told by telepathy that the Green one is coming back and Miek and the Brood as well. Humbug gets a new suit from the bugs to boot.

They borrowed SHIELD's Fury LMD (or one of them) so I would guess somebody within SHIELD knew what was going on.

That doesn't relate to hijacking the shuttle, though. For all we know, it was a legitmate Shield mission that was then hijacked by Stark

Reed and Tony are perfectly capable of hijacking an LMD if they needed to. I'd put their brains up against all of SHIELD any day and put money on them.
Its still hard to say if SHIELD was in on it or if SHIELD's mission of the Hulk was a separate event and the Illuminati just capitalized on it.

They can hijack an LMD, but I'd be hard pressed to believe that they can then use the same LMD to propose a mission that would get the Hulk where they wanted him. Damn Marvel and their poorly executed ideas.

I figured Hill was involved from reading the Illuminati special, though I guess it wasn't perfectly clear...

I dunno, I have a strong suspicion that this is just one of those connections Marvel let remain untold, either because a.) they assumed the reader would put 2+2 together or b.) because of some error in the editing process...but everyone knows both Tony and Reed have strong ties with SHIELD, and just the fact that some low-level SHIELD agents may not know about Hulk's exile doesn't mean much, there are probably lots of things the agency does that the low-level fodder don't know about...

I got the definite impression it was Stark's idea, he starts off by saying "It's a satellite, I helped design it" at the meeting when they decide to get rid of Hulk.
He also puts forward the idea of using the LMD because Banner wouldn't trust the new people in charge of SHIELD.
