Well as of the previous issue I had high hopes that this title was gonna improve with this new writer, but with the current issue I think it s back to the abyss of abysmal comics. I really felt like Wonder Woman was way too talky in this and the thing felt flat. Also here she seems so sure that that isnt her mother when she doesnt have a clue what is going on. I really felt her dialog to be boring this issue. Anyway the art was good. For spoilers Everyman is working with Circe and as Sarge Steel aimed nuclear weapons at coordinates that lead to a portal to Paradise Island which Circe will open to nuke the island. Hypolite finds out and stabs Circe with a spear and more Amazon fighting. I'm just not feeling this crossover at all. It's like there is no emotion in this.
I think the most disappointing thing about Picoult's run, to me at least, is that she clearly has some good ideas. She's just been shoehorned into some crossover no one really cares about. Had they said to her, "Here's Wonder Woman, go play," it looks like Picoult might have turned in something good. She just needs someone to help her with pacing and visual storytelling. The Nemesis Steel vs. Everyman Steel bits got way too confusing. And Nemesis apparently drives a car that would put the Mach 5 and General Lee to shame. He goes from Department of Metahuman Affairs HQ to where Diana and Circe are fighting in seconds.
That said, this issue was bad. Diana and Circe fight for like 10 pages (with at least 13 pages of dialogue shoved into those 10 pages) and Hippolyta discovers Circe's plan is for the U.S. to nuke Paradise Island. So she kills Circe, then decides to attack her own daughter. Why she does that, I don't know.

I was very disappointed with this issue. Everything just feels so amateur--dialogue, plot, pacing, everything. I'd rather have Heinberg and all his delays. Rucka just needs to come back. That would solve everything.

He'll have to wait until Gail Simone is done. ;)
But yeah, this issue was crap. From what little I've read of Picoult's stuff in novels, this is 180° from what she's capable of doing...... HIGHLY disappointing, to say the least.

She's another writer I don't care for, so I hope her run is brief.
There should be an option on the poll for "Just waiting until Gail's run starts." I enjoyed Heinberg's story, but I didn't like what I saw from this new writer. So I'm excited for Gail's run so I can get back into reading WW.

Well, then I hope you're disappointed. :)

I thought it was great. Nemesis was a lot of fun.

Blech. I think we've pretty well established that Picoult doesn't give a crap about writing good comics.
I thought this was the best best issue of Jodi's run so far (not that it's saying much, imo), probably due to the fact that "Diana Prince" was nowhere to be seen. It was also nice to see that at least Athena disapproves of the amazons' military actions against the US.
On the other hand, you have stuff like Hippolyta turning on her own daughter...which would never happen. This is the same woman who has defied Zeus, under punishment of death, to save her daughter from him. She followed her daughter to Tartarus to save her. She fixed the second contest so another amazon would die in her daughter's place. For that matter, she forbade Diana from competing in the first contest for much the same reason. And those are just the things I can think of off the top of my head. Hippolyta has demonstrated that she will always put her daughter's life before everything, be it her gods, her responsibilities as queen, or anything else. Yet now, she's gonna order the amazons to kill Diana? Sorry, I don't buy it.
Nemesis continues to be an incredibly lame and annoying one-note character.
Diana continues to spew cliches and allow herself to be manipulated by Circe in every conversation they have. And everyone seems to agree that Diana is not human, including Diana. Let me guess, by the end of the story, Diana will realize she really IS human afterall! Even though she always seemed to know that before Infinite Crisis. Yawn.
This trainwreck can not end soon enough for me.

I don't think that is fair to say at all. She went in to this whole affair hamstrung by the people who hired her and their poor choices regarding the prior arc. She DID ask the questions a writer should of the new situation with the characters, but no one could provide her with answers.
For the baggage the assignment came with, I think the job she is doing is good on those terms. My unhappiness with WONDER WOMAN stems from the retarded dumbing down of the character and the poisoning of her mythos by TPTB.
Greg Rucka should never have been removed to begin with for starters. At the very least, the fallout from Max Lord should have been resolved first. But we should have gotten 12 issues from him with art by Lee (to complete the Trinity) and then the Dodsons (or the amazing Frank Cho).
After getting a writer dedicated and respectful enough to do the work on WW they jettison the most distinguishing aspects of her myth and make her light fare.
Sad.
And the whole 'Diana isn't human' thing is the most absurd thing possible. Granted, her powers and origins may set her apart (no less so than the other heroes of uncommon origin) but in every way that counts she has always been one of the most human characters around.

Picoult never had any reason to care about what she wrote in this instance. DC hired her for her name. She wrote one arc, and went back to her career as a novelist. She has no investment in the book. I agree that she was given a lame situation to write, but she accepted it, and the way she chose to write it made it even worse.

Which in itself is a shame! "Out of my way Sperm Bank!"
And Once again that long delayed comic proves for some strange reason Wonder Woman is far more interesting when she is mixed up with Superman in some way. And that is just not right!

A part of me sort of wanted to vote, "Maybe." This issue really wasn't that bad, but the dialogue ultimately killed it for me. Stuff like Batman cracking wise and smiling just didn't click for me at all. And it didn't help that everyone in the issue was incredibly talky, making comments and jokes that felt so out of place. At least Diana didn't call her mother "mom" again, though.
But yeah, this book continues to disappoint. I cannot wait until Gail arrives. As for Amazons Attack, I've no idea what I'm going to do about that next week. The first issue was terrible I thought, so I'll probably just flip through it at the shop to see if anything interesting happens.

That was the one part of the issue that made me crack a smile.
Oh, and Nemesis was pretty neat, I guess.

Just wondering... I quit the book after Picault's first issue. Well, actually, I quit it after #3, and tried out Picoult's first, but anyway...
How did Themysira get back into the DCU? Didn't they waste a big portion of Infinite Crisis getting rid of it?

It's still gone, only the amazons are "back." Circe transported them.

You mean of course "SHAMazons." And SHAMHippolyta. (And SHAMDiana. Wonder Woman was never supposed to be like this!)
