I am new to comics and my first read is Countdown. Problem is that I live 1 hour from the closest comic shop and wondered what the cheapest place is that I can get COuntdown delivered to be is? Also, does anyone have any problems with the condition of their comics if delivered?

Hey, welcome to a wonderful world of comic! I think mail order or pull list is your best bet. To make a pull list, what you do is you make a list of comic books you want, tell the comic book store to set aside those titles for you each week, and you can either go into a store to pick them up once a month or have the store mail them to you. I don't think the condition of comics will be much of an issue, as long as you tell the store to make sure to pack it correctly.

Online mail order is another option. I've never done it before but it should be very easy.
Have fun reading:)

I have used www.dcbservice.com and been very pleased with their protection of the books and service overall. Many others use mail order comics and westfield. There are multiple options online if you use yahoo or google and search order comics online (or some similar phrase). The nice thing about the online services is that many of them offer substantial discounts which often more than offset their shipping charges. Good luck!

And another thing. Since DCBS and other online services are advance ordering (several months ahead), you will need to get a few issues that have already passed the advance order date to get you current. DCBS was very good when I started at helping me get up to the current month.

If you are new to comics I'd recoment you read something besides Countdown as it is pretty inaccessible for new readers.

Yes, but outside of Johnny DC, everything is now. If he's really new and liked Countdown, he's probably able to figure things out by context and willing to dive in. That's about the only way people can get going on comics these days anyway. Hold your breath and dive in.;)
