Tintin cartoonist Hergé was born a century ago today, and his beloved works remain as popular as ever with millions of books in print, three Hollywood movies in production and a new museum in his honor.

Tintin is about as classic a comic as you can get.

Tintin is The Man! You gotta love Herge!
The planned movies sound pretty interesting too.

I did not start reading Tintin till I was 22 years old - and that is still a long time ago - but I agree that his comics are timeless. I have quoted Captain Haddock as one of my all time favourite comic characters.

Mille millions de mille sabords! How time flies!
Tintin will always remain the reference as far as I'm concerned.

For those interested, and may not yet have seen it, the last issue of the New Yorker, cover dated May 28th, features the article of some length "The Greatest Stories Ever Drawn." The ordinarily caustic Anthony Lane waxes quite eloquently on "the Tintin century." Its worth checking out not only for Tintin fans, but for comic book fans in general. It will soon disappear from the newstands, but your libaray will certainly have it.
