Have ANY of the original Johnny Dynamite stories from Charlton by Pete Morisi ever been reprinted?????

I'm aware of the new stories from Dark Horse and the ones in Ms. Tree, but have any of the originals been reprinted?

Perhaps by Modern in the 80s?

Seems this would be a natural Essential volume. But it's possible that stats or negs of the originals have long since been lost. It may take a Greg Theakston to shoot directly from a comic to make these available.

I think a tpb would sell well since Dynamite is pure Mike Hammer in comic book form.

ROK I was under the impression that Max Collins and Terry Beatty included as backup stories in their Ms. Tree series from Renegade Press in the 80's reprints of the Morisi Johhny Dynamite originals... I think from issue no. 36 on. GCD only has #38 indexed, but it appears to be a reprint of the 1950's JD series. Collins and Beatty certainly bought the rights to the character. I have some Ms. Tree comics, but none from Renegade.

I completely agree with you though, as a big Pete Morisi fan, that a collected anthology edition of these originals would be nothing but a good thing. I'd buy it in an instant.

You are correct, benday-dot. There most certainly were reprints in the MS. TREE books.

Thanks guys.

I think I can pick up the Ms Tree with JD reprints pretty cheaply.

But a collected volume would sell well, if it had the right kind of marketing campaign IMO.

I need this so badly that if I heard it would be available in 2009 I would drive a souped-up Delorean through a lightning storm to get my hands on it.
