View Full Version : Superman after retirement
Batman had Dark Knight Returns and Spiderman had Reign. Do you think Superman could have something similar? It would be pretty cool to read a comic book of Superman in the future when he's decided to retire. I don't even know if Superman ages the same as regular humans but would could say that Lois Lane died. Maybe at his hands in an unfortunate accident. He's decided to retire because of that. Or maybe he finally got defeated badly one day by a regular burglar and saw that he was just getting too old. I don't know. There's so many possibilities. What do you guys think? Would you like to see a similar story for Superman as Batman and Spider-man had? They don't have to necessarily be as dark or anything but you get the idea.

I think a more interesting future story would be if Superman just continues to get more powerful, and how he deals with the fact that he's reaching "godhood".
That would be pretty interesting too. An explanation for getting too strong is that everyday he has spent on Earth the red sun has been making him stronger. Almost to say that he has no limits as far as strength goes. The only thing is that it doesn't happen over night (i.e. Clark as a teen still was growing up and getting stronger and still discovering his powers). Perhaps he became too strong for his own good in the future. And something happened which made him retire.....but now the Earth is being threatened again and he must save it for the last time.

I would think that Kingdome Come is as close as the idea is,without it being a waste or rip-off like Reign was.

If you want to know what a future superman is like , read the old stories of earth 2 superman or rather the adventures of mr and mrs superman in the old superman family comics.

earth has a yellow sun bud, Krypton had the red sun which is why he'd be powerless there.
Kingdom Come is a great idea of what Superman would be like after he retires

Wonder what happens when Supes finds out that his invulnerability means that Viagra won't work for him?
Sad day for Lois. If the dude ages, then he should be vulnerable to the mess up of enzymes that cause ED also.

The first was one of those imaginary tales written i believe by jimmy olsen. At the end of the comic superman reminded jimmy he could never be president because he was not born in the united states.
The beging of the second story reveiled Superman was no longer needed on earth and this put him in the chair do to mental problems. When he realized this he was able to walk and have all his powers. He moved to another world were he woulds still be needed.
