View Full Version : The "opinions" threads - consolidate, or no?

We'll do this democratically.

Shall we have a CRISIS and consolidate all the various opinions threads that have cropped up during the past week into a single megathread, or leave them as is?

Qualifier: if we leave them as is, I'm going to have to impose a moratorium and limit them to one new opinion thread started per week.

If the threads are merged, however, you may solicit new opinions to your hearts' content.

I say yes. I'd hate for anyone to wander in here and think that's all we do.

If it turns out to be one of those long-running threads like the Song Name Game, though, I'll probably drop out.

I'm torn... while it could be fun to watch the mass confusion of merging the opinion threads, it also would make them harder to follow.

But if you produce a moratorium, you'll have people fighting over who gets to post it each week.

Hmmmm...

No. Simply because it would be bloody impossible to follow.

I like the anarchy of it being all over the place.

It makes us look like we're busy.

no.
i think we should keep the threads we have, then create a new thread where people are only allowed to give 5 bands at a time, so that when the "everyone makes their own suggestions" craze dies down we'll still have one thread going and the rest will be able to resolve their own respective arguments and go away.

It's our equivalent of doing 52 or COUNTDOWN (I can always find a comics connection, can't I?). :)

Having thought about the matter, I am in favour of consolidating these things.

I like the idea of leaving them as is with the moratorium. One thread a week of these types seems fine with me.

How 'bout each week we consolidate the existing ones but still leave things wide open to new threads?

Now that's an interesting alternative I haven't though of. It keeps all the old ones in one setting while ensuring new ones get breathing time. I like it. (Though I think it would work better with a moratorium of one thread per week to keep things from sprawling.)

i'd go with the opposite. let the old threads alone and create one "opinion" thread that everyone can make suggestions in so it doesn't overtake the board.
