Man that looks awesome but Spidey's gotta know that once War Machine and Komodo help him out, they're just going to turn him in anyway.
I'm curious about the Iron Spider costume factoring in somehow as well.

And thats a tough position for Peter to be in.
If he see's the storm troopers coming, he knows the odds are good they'll go after him. SOME heroes don't care (like Reed Richards, for example), but he's smart enough to know that War Machine wouldn't be one of them.
But I don't see him just bailing and leaving the villians to War Machine either, even though he probably knows War Machine can take them.
That's the problem unregistered heroes face... helping the pro's means leaving themselves in vulnerable positions. But since they're heroes, they probably can't help but do that.

it's in one of those pictures with some kind of stealth mode enabled. i wonder who is wearing it; probably Ben Reilly.

I doubt they'd bring Ben into this, of all the times for them to do that this isn't it. They should have made him the Other, but whatever.
I hope they go into Komodo more in this issue. Didn't she steal the Lizard formula if memory serves me?

Probably one of the few people Stark has let wear the Iron Man armor in the past. Michael O'Brien (Guardsman), Clayton Wilson (Force) or Eddie March. All have experience in armors and all are trusted by Stark.

yep. and apparently she perfected it.

well the Force armor was a lot more dangerous than the Iron Spidey suit, imo. that would be a step down for Clay. i guess it could be a guardsman but weren't they a pretty tight-knit group? wouldn't make sense for just one of them to branch off. i do agree that it would be someone whom Stark trusts, though (if Stark is even that involved).
oo oo, it's Eddie Brock jr.

Well War Marchine in the last panel of the last page seems to be firing tranqs at both Spidey and the 3 Rogues, Spidey just dodges them.
Komodo better get her arse handed to her by Spidey, you know the man who has fought the Lizard too many times to count and won. Slott better not have Spidey jobb to Lizard lite.
As for the Iron Spidey suit, its designed for people who already have a decent power set. It doesn't give powers unless its copied Spidey's powerset with technology which is superlame.

Yeah basically.
I'm hoping they let him go though since they're not all like Tony but since Rhodey's pretty much Tony's best friend, they might be more alike in ideals. I love seeing the black costume drawn by Caselli, I was looking forward to his rendition of Spider-Man.

Another thing is that War Machine is doing this with an Initiative recruit around. He has to set an example, and recruits seeing him allow unregistered combatants to get away potentially looks bad. So I dont see him doing Peter any favors. And unlike 99% of the MU, Peter and War Machine don't have a lot of history (or at least I don't recally any off the top of my head).
Still, of course we pretty much know Peter has to get away.

It looks like basically every villain from that issue survived...there was a reference to that incident in the last issue of SHE-HULK, and it talked about the villains needing to be treated for burns, and have their stomachs pumped for poison.

The served together in Secret Wars I. Though Rhodey was masquerading as Iron-Man at the time, he does know Peter.

In all seriousness, I think that editorial should have made it all a bit more...vague. You can't just kill off that many villains.

Did they even mention Erskine great grand son again? Otherwise what was the whole point of that or killing him off for that matter.

That's something. Though in a superhero army that size, there's not necessarily a whole lot of bonding going on. Or at least I don't recall much between Peter and Rhodney.
A lot of other heroes have gotten to know Spidey and developed a fairly deep respect for him. I'm not sure I can say that for War Machine... I'm sure he has respect for Peter, but there's probably not a tight enough bond to just let him walk away like a lot of other heroes in his position probably would.
Though truthfully I think there's ony a small handful of registered heroes that would bother trying to arrest the few remaining hold outs like Spidey. Tony obviusly, as well as Carol and Hank Pym. We can add Rhodney to that list. I'll wager most heroes would do the same thing Reed Richards did and simply let Spidey go on his way.

He was mentioned (and seen) again in #2. His death served a couple of purposes, not the least of which was a bit of shock value. It raised the stakes, for both the characters and the readers. It demonstrated something about the Initiative, in how it responded to the situation by having Gyrich order a cover-up. It also showed us what happens to people who wash out of the program, when we saw what happened to Armory. The discussion about his remains in #2, and what they wanted to do with them, also said something about the characters and the agendas involved. And the death may continue to have an impact in future issues, particularily on Cloud 9 and how she is coping with it.
So yes, MVP and his death absolutely had a point.

Good stuff coming. Pity it's second on my read list that week after Flash.
It was
Dani Moonstar, people!

We've pretty much known it was Dani for months. Even before it was spoiled in the handbook. Heh. ;)
Nice continuity use of the Demon Bear. But for Dani to still be afraid of it at all is pretty silly.
Hopefully she was just pushing it foreward in her thoughts, because she really is over it.

Well we knew it was Dani more or less, but it's confirmation for those who weren't quite sure.
I'd be interested in knowing what your thoughts are on Beast's greatest fear, Beast?

Ahh, the title just keeps getting better and better.
Dani's a natural fit for the Initiative, loved the whole Komodo/Hardball squabble in the intro as well. Steffano's art is improving with each issue as I'm liking the colors and style more than the past two issues.

Honestly? I thought it was pretty lame when I saw the dialogue-less pages.
Even more so after seeing what Trauma was actually saying as Beast.
Hank never had a huge angst factor over his appearance when he was a blue-furred apeman.
But now since going kitty cat, everyone keeps dumping massive ammounts of angst on the character.
It was nice back when he was one of the few X-Men who didn't sweat angst from every pore. :p

I'll take Hank's expression as not recoiling, but Dani pushing him back... and Beast rolling his eyes. :D

Beast was one of the few that didn't. At least until the Legacy Virus. Which ruined the character.

or he just covered it (with humor & cockiness) better than the others.
i'd think that McCoy's worst fear would be to devolve even further; like when Infectia messed with his DNA and made him dumber/stronger.

And Komodo looks much better than I thought she did. Go human Komodo!

If advance spoilers are cool, I read the issue at the shop today. A few more surprises, some cool stuff to see. What is the specific policy on advance spoilers, sometimes it seems okay, others it doesn't, and I wasn't sure where to put it.

Well it seems the Intiiative are about as succesful as you'd expect at taking down web-head:
From IGN-
"Their exact approach is pretty bold and, having read the issue, borderline stupid. At any rate, we already know this is a sure bet, so just buy it when it hits on June 6. The usual boot camp drama continues, we see Trauma's initial, secluded training sessions and Spidey is a total badass once he appears. The fun continues with Slott and Caselli at the helm."

I'm just glad Spidey will come off as a total badass. That ALONE will sell me on the book. Writers never do enough of that, since he's so used to playing the role of the proverbial underdog.
