I think the context of that kiss works. I was almost worried it was going to be one of those totally out of the blue forced "we're done for..." "bobby... i love you! kiss me!" things. The lady luck angle is nice.

Eh, since I posted spoilers in the Mike Carey thread, might as well post them here too. :D Avert your eyes if you don't wanna see people, 'cause a whole lot of stuff happens!

Everyone is fighting the Hecatomb, Mystique is sorta calling the shots. Since the Hecatomb has an actual solid core, she thinks that something that they do should be able to weaken it/destroy it. Creed is in the Conquistador and has blocked Karima out. The Hecatomb comes into contact with Karima, she's okay later, but something happened during the exchange. The Conquistador comes falling out of the sky, and they're worried about the fusion drive exploding. Bobby contains the explosion, but gets a kiss for good luck from Mystique first. Regan's sleeve still ends up getting singed, and asks "tastee freeze" what he's good for. I think it's Sam that says that he can't believe that Creed sacrificed his life for them, but then Cable comes in. It turns out that Cable caused the ship to crash with his newly restored tk, but the explosion wasn't big enough. Karima asks him if he's crazy, for merging minds with the Mummudrai. He's about to take on the Hecatomb himself, but sends a telepathic call to Rogue, he intends to get her as a diversion.

Rogue is lying in the hospital bed when she gets a psychic distress call from Cable, and is telepathically jolted awake. The first thing she does after sitting up is ask, "Where's mah clothes!?" She gets out of bed, and the nurses and the doctor try to tell her to get back in, telling her that she still has a high fever and if she gets worked up, it'll only cause the infection to progress faster. Rogue tells them to leave her alone and not to touch her, but too late, one of them does, and falls over and dies instantly. Rogue rattles off some personal information about the nurse, her name, she's 29, divorced, no kids, and where she came from, and is horrified to find out that she took in all of her. She tells the other nurse that she's now in her head with her. She gets a scary look/determined look in her eyes, (we get a nice close up of her face, there's still a few scars and she's sweating from the fever, her eyes are her normal green for most of the issue, except for that preview page we saw earlier) and says that Pandemic did that to her. She proceeds getting into gear anyway (where the spare costume came from, I have no idea, but I think she's learned from experience that her uniforms always tend to get wrecked, so she probably stashed one aside somewhere ), and the doctor tells her not to leave, and that if she walked out of the hospital, more people would end up dying anyway. Rogue tells them that she's recieved a mental picture of her team fighting against some giant alien monster, and that she's going out to help them... and that she wasn't planning on walking anyway. She still has the Sunfire powers, and uses them to bust out of the hospital.

More fighting, and things are looking grim, Cable is the only one who can do anything to fight, and all the rest of the team can do is stand by and watch. Lady M says that they should consider running, but Mystique tells her that the thing came halfway across the galaxy to get here, where would they run to? Cable's attempt to hold off the Hecatomb fails, because the Hecatomb is able to use the minds of the victims it has taken as projectiles/weapons, and then it sucked the Mummudrai right from his head.

Rogue shows up on the scene, asking "What is that thing, besides ugly?" Bobby is overjoyed that she's back, and tells her that she shouldn't get close to it and let it touch her because it takes minds. And she tells him that it's all the more reason she should, or something like that, so she flies into the thick of it. She's pelted by the thoughts of the people it absorbed, and it sorta overwhelms her. The Hecatomb is able to use some of the minds it has taken as projectiles, the minds are shown as blackish, warped faces, and attempts to use it on her. But when it does snare her, instead of it taking her mind, everything gets sucked up into her, except for the metal, spherical core. She crashes back down to the ground.

They're not out of the woods yet, since there's stiill the core to contend with, and since the mind thing has been taken care of, it's primed to explode. They've got to take action immediately or it's over. Punting the thing into orbit won't work, so Sam asks Cable to read his mind since he has a plan, but Cable tells him that since the Mummudrai's dead, so is his telepathy, he's still got his tk though. They proceed with the plan. Iceman starts icing the place around him to get the Hecatomb's core down to a temperature that it can weaken and break, while keeping the immediate area around him warm enough for everyone else. He knows his stuff quite well, and informs them that "at this temperature you'd be drinking oxygen" and other freezing facts. Sam and Karima then do that dive-bombing thing.

When Rogue regains consciousness, she's got no scars, and is a bit hysterical, saying she can hear them all in her head. Cable tells them not to touch her because he says it'll kill them instantly. Mystique rushes over, saying thank goodness she's alright, but Rogue's right in the middle of freaking out, but when she realizes Raven's near, all of a sudden she gets scarily calm and lucid and says, "oh, it's you. You wanna pretend it's mother's day and give me a kiss on the cheek?" Everyone asks if she's alright, she tells them that she's all better, and that she's thriving. Someone suggest that she see Emma, and she angrily shoots back that Emma can take a peek through someone else's drapes. She then looks at her hands with a very freaky expression on her face, and says that her hands feel like they've got ants crawling over them... And then there's a very calm expression on her face when she says... that she feels like she has to go and touch something real soon. She then turns from the group and walks away from the team. Everyone else is worried. I think it's Sam that says something is off, or different, and that she's acting strange. Cable tells them that she's probably traumatized from taking in 8 billion alien personalities from a war fought a long time ago, either that or she's drowning, on top of all that, she's still got the Strain-88 in her, and that they've got to keep a very close eye on her from now on.

They check the wreckage of the Conquistador, it seems that Creed escaped unscarred. Sam remarks that, at least someone did...

I think it's quite interesting how Sam remarked that there were more Chiefs than Indians on the team (in Cable & Deadpool). We see just about everyone asserting some sort of command proficiency in the last two issues, sans Regan and Creed (and Rogue, but she's been the team leader for 12 issues now, so it's okay).

....Yeah, something about resetting her ipod's digital "Al Gore - rhythms" .

Good issue though. Makes me want to go out and hijack an unpublished copy of #200 just to see what happens next, right about now.

I think he said on his website that "red data" was an initial working title, but they decided to change it to "condition critical." I don't know why they would still used the original title on the cover, though. Maybe it was done by mistake or they already had the graphic made up and didn't have time to change it or something.

Funny how Bobby de-ices so quickly to kiss Mystique, but turns around and generates enough ice to halt a crashing oceanliner...I often wonder about his powers sometimes. Meaning that in an instant such as that, how can he quickly differenciate not extracting and freezing the moisture in people versus the environment... Maybe I'm just over-thinking the concept a little too much.

On Lady Mastermind and Karima in the upcoming #200 issue... I wonder what makes them defect to the Marauder's side... With the exception of Karima getting what looked like reprograming in #199, I kind of don't see the logic.

I see all the logic in Lady Mastermind's case.

She got her revenge on Pandemic some time ago, so I didn't see the reason why she just didn't walk away from the X-Men right after that moment. She's had nothing but complaints about wearing the X-badge, so maybe this is her way of getting back at them... Not that they treated her any less of an X-Man... Save Rogue.

It's actually quite intriguing how proficient and swift Bobby is with utilizing his powers when he's just improvising or going with the moment. You'd think his cavalier attitude and lack of practicing (on panel, at least) would have gotten him killed, but it's those times in which he seems to bring his A-game.

I actually thought she rather enjoyed being called an X-Man by the psychologist in 197 when she said, "Yeah, I saved the world a few times." A fleeting moment though. I was kind of hoping she'd get more fleshed out since her family history (Wyngarde) is quite well known in the X-Verse. Hopefully she doesn't bounce into limbo after Blinded by the Light and the crossover.

I don't think Karima would betray the X-Men by her own volition, and I'm sure this has already been theorized, but it's likely that Malice possesses her.

The complete picture of Ramos' cover of X-Men #200 was shown at the end of X-Men #199. Gambit, Exodus, Karima, and Lady M, wearing her typical outfit were the new additions, so we still don't know who the blonde in white is.

Lady Mastermind is not one of the good guys. If Sinister offers her something she finds good enough (money, most likely), she would change sides any time.

What a shame... how retarded (excuse me... "mentally challenged") would that be ... For her to switch sides and kill her own brothers and sisters (mutants) indescriminantly all because of a few dollars?... She deserves to die by the hands of the X-Men if that was the case. Particularly by the hands of Rogue, since those two have always had issues.

I really hope/pray it's not Lady Mastermind. I've really grown to love her as a character, and have to say she's my favorite on the book right now.
