I am very happy to see that a number of the comic websites I visit are giving Nova mad props. Over at popcultureshock.com/, the reviewers rave about Nova #2 and state that this is one of the books everyone should be reading. One of the reviewers also mention that this is the second month in a row in which they have reviewed Nova. They mention that the reason this is the case is because it is so good. They rave about the art and the writing. They rave about Annihilation as a better event comic than Civil War. One of them was upset with how dismissive Tony was of Nova's war because Marvel's heroes "were a little busy.
People are talking about Nova, folks! Today is a good day.

It deserves alot of credit. I mean Annihilation was great, and I think anyone who read it and CW will admitt it was better, but Nova probably made it out of the whole thing the best. I will admitt that I always thought Nova was sort of a dumb character until Annhilation. Not the best way to be but I am a fan of his now. The art, the story, the character are all very interesting. Good stuff overall. I don't know what that means for series longevity, because as well all know crap can go on forever sometimes and good stuff can fade away quickly but its a great start.
Anything that causes interest in the cosmic side is good for me. So long as the FF arc does not make Galactus and SS look like giant jokes everything will be alright, aside from the whole BP fiasco.
I was a big fan of Nova back in the 70's but really haven't had much use for the character in recent years, but I do have to say that the first two issues of the new series have just been great.
Good art and excellent writing all the way.

I never read Annihilation, but I am going to try and pick up the floppy issues or the trade (whichever is easier to find). But I have been onboard this Nova series from issue 1 and I have to admit that it has made me a big Nova fan. I didn't care about the character before but now I am hooked. Glad to see the title is getting much deserved praise.

Sal from the Around Comics podcast also gave the first issue a "Top of the Stack" recommendation.
It's a fine series with Abnet and Lanning on it, I've been a big fan of Nova and it's high time we got a book with the combined feel of epic space fantasy and superheroics especially after Annihilation.

I picked up Nova on the reccomend of 40yearoldnovafan and have to say I loved it. As I have posted on other strings, I am not a fan of Hero smash hero and all is forgotten comics and therefore loved Annihilation. I thought that with Nova returning to earth we would slip back into that same old story but instead we have a story about perception. Richard and Tony talking about their seperate "epics" was perfect and it is true that we all place our importance on different things. We all were shocked at the Tsunami destoyed "some foreign" island and we helped but for us we all were truly hit when the tornado devastated our own soil. Tony was like a tragedy in speace too bad but let me tell you what happened here. I will see how issue three plays out but I am loving this series. I look forward to the next set of Annihilation minis and the ongoing saga of the Nova corps.
P.S. Thank you 40yearNova fan for the great reccomend!

Yes, good to see a newly powered Nova get his props!
When Nova initially came out it seemed like a "let's get back to the teen-angst of early Spider-Man" gimmick. I love to see a character grow and evolve in such a positive fashion.
Semi-serious question- has Nova's Dad always been such a dick? I vaguely remember him being proud and supportive at some point.

I was'nt much of a Nova fan before but now he's really getting to be one of my fav's. Even enjoyed that they gave him some nice screen time in Marvel Zombies dead day's.
I really can't wait for the 3rd issue and have yet to get the second one (was sold out :( and right on the next day after a wednesday too). I hope this creative team will Stay on this series for years seeing they know how to write the book. Nova fanboys, you guys should be proud.

That's what I like to read Jimmy! Good honest praise for a character who has been far too long lurking in the darkness of comic obscurity and has since Annihilation given full opportunity to shine along the rest of the A-listers. And yes welcome also to new Nova and Annihilation fans at CBR; just in time to join the bandwagon for Conquest and forget that there ever was a "civil war". And if you need to know anything about Nova, I fully recommend you visit www.novaprimepage by Nova supremo Nova64 for every nugget of Nova info you'll ever need..and while you're there go to the fan section and download Rocket Boosters, a FREE fanzine celebrating Nova's 30th anniversary..I should know I did the comic strip for it (yeah, plug are us am I!!) lol. I'm glad they finally found the right place for Nova. when he first came out - he was more of 'the next generation' after Spider-Man as marvel tried to recapture that type of magic.
Then they sent him off to cosmic war and out of the eyes of a lot of readers which eventually led to his temporary depowering.
New Warriors brought the character back into focus, gave him an edge and put him in a team. Good writing and I loved the series but once it ended - out bucket head was in limbo again.
A couple of solo series focusing on urban heroics fell short of expectations.
Now - finally a cosmic hero - it seems he has found the niche that fans and casual readers were always hoping he would fall into.
I'm loving the series - and happy that the pieces have fallen into place to really give Nova the spotlight, quality art and writing he has so richly deserved.
