They've been trying to straighten out the Wonder Woman/Donna Troy mess, I wonder if anyone will try to "fix" the Hawkman situation.

My hope is that you'll have Carter Hall in the 1940s, who meets Thanagarian Paran Katar, who goes back and has a kid named Katar in honor of Carter, then Katar and Shayera get sent to Earth around the time of Superman's launch and become the new Hawkman and Hawkwoman. Carter, Shiera, and Katar are killed battling a Hawk-God. Shiera reincarnates as Kendra, and Carter reincarnates with Katar's memories.

Basically the same thing as pre-IC, but without the "Carter was the Hawkman in the JLA" insertion.

I thought it was already fixed, don't touch it, leave it. You try to reinvent it again, its just makes a bigger mess. Geoff Johns/David Goyer/James Robinson did a good job.

Maybe we can get the Silver Age Hawks on another Earth.

They didn't fix it - they ignored it. Which is perfectly acceptable, but when you're in the "fixing" mood, this is still a squeaky wheel.

Wikipedia has a great summary of Hawkman's history, and as far as I can see, it has been fixed more or less. Are you familiar with the retcon of Fel Andar, the Thanagarian (I believe post-Crisis OIE) who came to Earth and joined the JLA who claimed he was Hawkman but was a spy? This might make more sense with the timeline (although, when you're talking about Hawkman, making sense is relative), and it was touched upon in the recent Hawkman TPB volume 4: Rise of the Golden Eagle. Check it out if you haven't already, it was good stuff.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Billy here. Yeah, there are still some kinks, but for the most part, it works. It's like a drawing; you can only erase and correct the flaws so many times before smudges start to show through. There comes a point where you just have to take a step back and say, "I'm done."

Though it's not exactly perfect, the Hawks' origins are nevertheless more legible now than they've been in a long time. Just leave them be and move forward. Besides, as confusing as it can get, a lot of the Fel Andar stuff has already been incorporated into Hawkman's mondern mythos, so it might only serve to further muddy the waters if you tried to write it out altogether.

I will throw out there, though, that I think it would be a neat twist if the JSA of Earth 2 featured the Silver Age Katar and Shayera, since they've basically been erased from "New Earth" continuity. In my opinion, the history surrounding those characters is too rich for them to have been thrown away as lackadaisically as they were.

Since Powergirl and Justice League have been addressed, I'll be suprised if the Hawks' situation isn't. Placing them on Earth 2 would be a different twist, but I think that if Katar & Shayera would live on Earth 1 if they exsist in the Multiverse.
