Here's the news you need to know!

NBC Announces Their Fall Schedule

• NBC "bulks up" with 30 combined episodes of Heroes and Heroes: Origins, an innovative new spin-off that each week will introduce a new character — one of whom will be chosen by viewers through the Heroes website on NBC.com to become a cast regular the following season.

• The network has ordered 30 half-hours of the hit series The Office, including five hour-long episodes, and also has increased the season order for "My Name Is Earl" to 25 episodes.

• Series renewals include the Peabody Award-winning drama Friday Night Lights, now shifting to Friday nights (10 pm/ET); Scrubs, also a Peabody winner, for a seventh season; and the venerable, Emmy-winning Law & Order, for its historic 18th season.

• NBC's acclaimed Thursday "Comedy Night Done Right" lineup will next year lead off with My Name is Earl at 8 pm/ET, which will be followed by 30 Rock at 8:30 pm, the Peabody Award-winning The Office at 9 pm and Scrubs at 9:30.

• New NBC series Bionic Woman and Life will be re-purposed on SCI FI Channel and USA Network, respectively, shortly after their original telecasts on NBC.

After Sunday Night Football concludes its season in January 2008, the network will unveil a new regular line-up. After the return of Dateline NBC (7 pm/ET) will be the 18th season premiere of Law & Order (8 pm/ET), followed by the fourth season debut of Medium (9 pm/ET) and the premiere of the sexy new dramedy Lipstick Jungle (10 pm/ET).

2007-08 NEW SERIES DESCRIPTIONS

New Dramas

JOURNEYMAN &mdash From Emmy Award-winning writer-producer Kevin Falls (The West Wing) and Emmy Award-winning director-producer Alex Graves (The West Wing"), "Journeyman" is a romantic mystery-drama about Dan Vasser (Kevin McKidd, Rome), a San Francisco newspaper reporter and family man who inexplicably begins to travel through time and change people's lives. Along the way, he also must deal with the difficulties and strife at work and home brought on by his sudden disappearances. However, his freewheeling travels through the decades reunite him with his long-lost fianc´e Livia (Moon Bloodgood, Day Break) — which complicates his present-day life with wife Katie (Gretchen Egolf, Martial Law) and their son. Reed Diamond (Homicide: Life on the Street) and Charles Henry Wyson ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") also star.

CHUCK — From executive producer, Josh Schwartz (The O.C.) and executive producer-director McG (Charlie's Angels, We Are Marshall) comes a one-hour, comedic spy thriller about Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, Less Than Perfect) — a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. When Chuck opens an e-mail subliminally encoded with government secrets, he unwittingly downloads an entire server of sensitive data into his brain. Now, the fate of the world lies in the unlikely hands of a guy who works at Buy More. Instead of fighting computer viruses, he must fight assassins and international terrorists. With the government's most precious secrets in Chuck's head, Major John Casey (Adam Baldwin, My Bodyguard) of the NSA assumes the responsibility of protecting him. His partner is the CIA's top agent (and Chuck's first date in years) Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strzechowski, Gone). They'll keep him safe by trading in his pocket protector for a bulletproof vest. Also starring are Joshua Gomez (Without a Trace) as Chuck's best buddy Morgan and Sarah Lancaster (What About Brian?) as Chuck's ever-supportive sister Ellie.

BIONIC WOMAN &mdash Struggling as a bartender and surrogate mom to her teenage sister, Jaime Sommers (Michelle Ryan, EastEnders) didn't think life could get much harder. But when a devastating car accident leaves her at death's door, Jaime's only hope for survival is a cutting-edge, top-secret technology that comes at a hefty price. With a whole new existence and a debt to re-pay, Jaime must figure out how to use her extraordinary abilities for good, while weighing the personal sacrifices she will have to make. Ultimately, it's Jaime's journey of self-discovery and inner strength that will help her embrace her new life as the Bionic Woman. Also starring are: Mae Whitman (State of Grace) as Becca, Jaime's younger sister; Miguel Ferrer (Crossing Jordan) as Jonas, the man who employs Jaime's boyfriend; Chris Bowers (Rescue Me) as Will, Jaime's boyfriend, who performs the operation; Will Yun Lee (Witchblade) as Jae, the specialized operations leader; and Molly Price (Third Watch), as Ruth, Jonas' second-in-command.

LIFE — From Rand Ravich and Far Shariat, the executive producers of the feature film The Astronaut's Wife, and David Semel, who directed the pilot of NBC's Heroes, Life is a new drama about a detective who is given a second chance. Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers) stars as complex, offbeat Detective Charlie Crews, who returns to the force after years in prison, thanks to close friend and attorney Constance Griffiths (Melissa Sagemiller, Sleeper Cell), after serving time for a crime he didn't commit. The cast also includes Sarah Shahi (Rush Hour 3) as Charlie's skeptical, demanding partner, Robin Weigart (HBO's Deadwood) as their hard-hitting lieutenant, and Adam Arkin (Chicago Hope) as former cellmate Ted Early.

LIPSTICK JUNGLE — Based on the best-selling novel by Candace Bushnell (Sex and the City), this fun dramedy follows three high-powered friends as they weather the ups and downs of lives lived at the top of their game. Nico (Kim Raver, 24), editor-in-chief of a hot fashion magazine, wants to replace her boss as CEO. Movie exec Wendy (Brooke Shields, Suddenly Susan) finds even her most earnest efforts may not be enough to balance career and family. And free-spirited designer Victory (Lindsay Price, Beverly Hills, 90210) longs to make her dreams come true, and maybe find Mr. Right along the way. Armed with humor and strength, these three modern New York women support one another through the triumphs and tears that are all part of making it big in the Big Apple. Written by executive producers DeAnn Heline and Eileen Heisler (both for How I Met Your Mother, Three Sisters) and based on the book by Bushnell.

New Comedy Series

THE IT CROWD — Ever wonder what's up with those quirky techies who come to fix the office computer when no one's around? The IT Crowd is an offbeat series, based on the critically acclaimed British comedy, that offers a humorous behind-the-scenes peek at the people who truly keep the office humming. Roy (Joel McHale, The Soup) and Moss (Richard Ayoade, The IT Crowd U.K.) are the misunderstood masters of their high-tech domain, but they lack the people skills to befriend anyone but each other. Their company's head is Denholm (Rocky Carrol, Chicago Hope), who wants the IT department to stay segregated and forever banished to the basement.

Here's my thoughts, and the tentative plans of shows to watch for me.

MONDAY
8-9 pm Deal or No Deal
9-10 pm Heroes
10-11 pm JOURNEYMAN

I'll be tuning in for Heroes. I may check out Journeyman, but to be honest, I'm not all that interested in a show that sounds like a rehash of Quantum Leap.

TUESDAY
8-9 pm The Biggest Loser
9-10 pm CHUCK
10-11 pm Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

No interest in Chuck (Jake 2.0 II) but I'll be tuning in for SVU. I love that show, it's the best of the L&O series.

WEDNESDAY
8-9 pm Deal or No Deal
9-10 pm BIONIC WOMAN
10-11 pm LIFE

I may check out Bionic Woman, but for all the hype, I'm just not feeling the need to see it. I want to check out the show "Life" though. Cop imprisoned for years for a crime he didn't commit, gets exonerated, and then goes back to the force? I said it elswhere, that has lots of dramatic potential.

THURSDAY
8-8:30 pm My Name Is Earl
8:30-9 pm 30 Rock
9-9:30 pm The Office
9:30-10 pm Scrubs
10-11 pm ER

Just ER for me. Despite all the naysayers, the show is still pretty good and I look forward to each episode. I do think it will end up being the last season though.

FRIDAY
8-9 pm 1 vs 100/THE SINGING BEE
9-10 pm Las Vegas
10-11 pm Friday Night Lights

The move of Friday Night Lights to Friday nights at 10pm assures that it will die a quick death. Look, I love the show, but it just will not do well in the timeslot. The target audience is just getting home from their own friday night high school football games.

SATURDAY
8-9 pm Dateline NBC
9-11 pm Drama Series Encores

Nothing to see, move it along.

SUNDAY (Fall 2007)
7-8 pm Football Night in America
8-11 pm NBC Sunday Night Football

SUNDAY (January 2008)
7-8 pm Dateline NBC
8-9 pm Law & Order
9-10 pm Medium
10-11 pm LIPSTICK JUNGLE

To answer the first question, Yes I'm ready for some football!

Come January I'll be watching Law & Order (I actually missed most of the last three episodes that were shown and didn't care. That's never a good sign, but since there's usually nothing on TV for me Sunday nights, I'll be sure to tune in. Medium once again gets renewed and then gets shafted in relation to a timeslot. This show is one of the most inventive and fun shows to watch week in and week out. I wish the show could get the ratings it deserves so that it could get more love from the network.

Summation:

All in all, there are 7 scripted shows I'm interested in for the 2007-2008 NBC schedule. Five of them air at the start of the season. 4 of them air at 10pm, with Heroes coming on at 9pm. There's only one new show that I'm definitely interested in. And the two January debuts I'm interested in are both on Sunday nights. Oh, and I'll be there for football.

I had no interest in "Journeyman" until I saw the actors in it. Now, that could be good.

Bionic Woman...hmmm....it sounds like they kept the best part of the original, which was the personality of the main character. Could be good, could be awful. I'll check it out.

Damn. My mom really liked Crossing Jordan. I thought it was banal, but she thought it was pretty good.

You couldnt pay me to give a crap about Studio 60. Although it is amusing that it was the show they say the big networks got into a bidding war over. And its cancelled after 1 season. Awesome.

MONDAY
8-9 pm Deal or No Deal
9-10 pm Heroes
10-11 pm JOURNEYMAN

I'm there for Heroes, and I'll be checking out Journeyman, sounds like it has potential, although who knows if it will stick (see the the sci-fi cullings of 05).

TUESDAY
8-9 pm The Biggest Loser
9-10 pm CHUCK
10-11 pm Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

I'll try Chuck, but it doesn't sound like it will be super good. I'll be catching SVU at one time or another.

WEDNESDAY
8-9 pm Deal or No Deal
9-10 pm BIONIC WOMAN
10-11 pm LIFE

I do think that there is enough cop based shows, but i'll try Life. Wish they kept Raines instead. The Bionic Woman i'll check out also.

THURSDAY
8-8:30 pm My Name Is Earl
8:30-9 pm 30 Rock
9-9:30 pm The Office
9:30-10 pm Scrubs
10-11 pm ER

I watch ER, but not regularly. Maybe when the DVD comes out.

FRIDAY
8-9 pm 1 vs 100/THE SINGING BEE
9-10 pm Las Vegas
10-11 pm Friday Night Lights

I hope that Tom Selleck is as good as James Caan in Las Vegas, but regardless, i'll be tuning in.

SUNDAY (January 2008)
7-8 pm Dateline NBC
8-9 pm Law & Order
9-10 pm Medium
10-11 pm LIPSTICK JUNGLE

Too bad Medium is getting knocked to 2008. Maybe if one of the new dramas fails Medium will be moved up. I'll try and catch Law and Order also.

To be honest I can't remember which day we get CBS. I think it's Wednesday. But from what I recall of this weekend's news on the internet, HIMYM is getting renewed.

Originally it was up in the air for renewal. Word from Michael Ausiello on TVGuide.com is that one executive at the network HATES the show with a passion and wanted it gone, but all accounts this weekend have it returning.

And now back to the NBC discussion.

Old shows I'll be planning to watching

Heroes and Office and maybe Earl.

New shows I'm considering if the other networks don't offer better and what I think will happen

Journeyman - It had the most positive reviews of all NBC shows with testing audiences. Downside: Positive reviews don't always equal ratings though.
Post Heroes shows (Studio 60, Black Donnelly's, Wedding Crashers) have not done well at all.

Chuck - This is probably the one I'm least interested in of the ones I'm interested in. If House stays at its 9/8C timeslot that's gonna hurt it.

Bionic Woman - I'm somewhat interested but I think more for nostalgic purposes than anything. If there had never been a Bionic Woman show on tv and this was a new concept I don't know how much interest I'd have.

At this point Heroes and Office are the only 2 definates with NBC for me. The rest will depend on what else is there.

And for who asked

ABC: Tues
CBS: Wed
Fox and CW: Thurs.

The good thing about my TV habits is the 3 TVs and two VCRs. I can watch one thing out in the living room and tape something in my room. That's how I handle Mondays with Heroes and 24 and Tuesdays with Veronica Mars and House.

I am attempting to limit the amount of doubling up I do during the season though.

What I'll be watching:

NBC PRIMETIME SCHEDULE FOR FALL 2007-08

*New programs in CAPS (with the exception of "ER")

MONDAY
8-9 pm Deal or No Deal
9-10 pm Heroes
10-11 pm JOURNEYMAN

Watching: Heroes! Love this show! The new 'Heroes: Origin' sounds like a good idea too! No reruns & no break!! :)

As for Journeyman, ya it sounds a little like Quantum Leap, expect that its going to a 'romantic mystery time travel story' which is very different from Quantum Leap. From what I've read, the guy doesn't sound like he's time traveling on purpose, like Sam was. Hmm. Anyway, this sounds like an interesting new show and I love time travel, so I'll definitly check it out and hope its good!

TUESDAY
8-9 pm The Biggest Loser
9-10 pm CHUCK
10-11 pm Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

Watching: Most likely nothing. Chuck sounds OK, but also like Jake 2.0, which I thought was ok, but not great. I've got NCIS and House on this night, so I'm set (unless FOX or CBS move those shows...)

WEDNESDAY
8-9 pm Deal or No Deal
9-10 pm BIONIC WOMAN
10-11 pm LIFE

Watching: I'll check out Bionic Woman. Hope its good! Life sounds sort of interesting, but I'd have to see previews...

THURSDAY
8-8:30 pm My Name Is Earl
8:30-9 pm 30 Rock
9-9:30 pm The Office
9:30-10 pm Scrubs
10-11 pm ER

Watching: Nothing here. This is Smallville/Supernatural/CSI night!

FRIDAY
8-9 pm 1 vs 100/THE SINGING BEE
9-10 pm Las Vegas
10-11 pm Friday Night Lights

Watching: Again: nothing!

SATURDAY
8-9 pm Dateline NBC
9-11 pm Drama Series Encores

Watching: ditto

SUNDAY (Fall 2007)
7-8 pm Football Night in America
8-11 pm NBC Sunday Night Football

Watching: Definitly be avoiding Sundays on NBC here...

SUNDAY (January 2008)
7-8 pm Dateline NBC
8-9 pm Law & Order
9-10 pm Medium
10-11 pm LIPSTICK JUNGLE

Watching: Medium, cause its a really good show. Not happy about it coming back at midseason, but at least its coming back. This new 'bring it back at midseason' thing is really lame though. Thank goodness for Heroes at least...

I'll prob check out Law & Order too, unless I have something else to watch..

Oh and for Crossing Jordan, I've been liking it recently (although its still not as great as it was when it started. the focus less on Jordon and more on the Morgue, aka making it CSI: Morgue, really hurt the show, imo), but I'm not suprised its getting canceled. Oh well. At least Heroes is coming back.

Man...I sure hope JERICHO comes back!!! Wish CBS would annouce theres tommorrow instead of Wensday lol. (more interested in CBS lineup then ABCs).

Well, Heroes is a given.

Journeyman I'll check out, but may not stick with.

Life, which I'll watch solely on the merits of Damien Lewis, who kicked all sorts of butt in "Band of Brothers."

Yeah I have ways around stuff too. 2 DVRs. I have East and West coast satellite feeds with FOX and ABC so shows air twice 3 hours apart then I have 3 different time zones for CW shows.

Its more a matter of time and like you attempting to limit the doubling up.

I'll continue to watch HEROES on Monday Night. I'll continue to watch The Office on Thursday night. I'm kind of done with My Name is Earl, it just doesn't seem as funny as it once did. Not at all. I'm waiting until the first season of Friday Night Lights comes to DVD before I decide to watch the show. I loved the book more than words can describe, I loved the movie, and as a kid who grew up around where the events happened I think it is cool. The show has gotten great press but it just seems a tad melo-dramatic to me. I mean from the previews it looks like it had paralysis, betraying your best friend, constant job insecurity, 'roids, it just seemed a little un-realistic and a shame it was using the Friday Night Lights name. But could be wrong.

To be honest with you the only NBC new show I'm looking forward to is the mid-season replacement show The IT Crowd. It looks like it is gonna be a clone of The Office sure, but it looks like it is gonna have even more socially awkward people than Dwight. And I like Joel McCale and can't wait to see him on a scripted TV Show.

So, I guess at NBC, my viewing for the upcoming year will be:

Monday: Heroes
Thursday: The Office and those awesome ER ads that look like basically the world is coming to an end at the ER every week. Man, they should just make that show about the ads every week and I think people might still care about.

Mid-Season: The IT Crowd

So all in all, NBC is just not a very relevant channel for me. Sure it's got my favorite show on TV (Heroes) and the funniest show on TV (The Office) but it doesn't have much going on beyond that.

Well except football, and that is a given that I'm just gonna watch that every Sunday night.

I would have actually agreed with you there until about the last 3 or 4 episodes. Most of this season, except the funeral episode and the last month, was only okay. I thought the season finale was the best episode of the year, though, so I'm going to keep watching.

As far as the schedule goes, none of the new stuff sounds good. I'll still watch Scrubs (though I think it has declined rather noticeably the last two years), 30 Rock, and Heroes, in addition to My Name is Earl.

Chuck sounds OK, but also like Jake 2.0, which I thought was ok, but not great.

I knew that premise sounded familar; thanks for saving me the misery of trying to remember the name of the show myself.

For comparison's sake, here's UPN's synopsis of Jake 2.0 from their 2003 upfronts:

JAKE 2.0 (Wednesday, 9:00-10:00 PM) stars Christopher Gorham ("Felicity") as Jake Foley, a computer technician who is transformed into a secret agent for the National Security Agency (NSA) after he is accidentally infected with nanites based on the real life, beyond-state-of-the-art nanotechnology that reduces the size of a computer to the molecular level. Upon the discovery of his new mind-boggling powers, he begins to operate at an atomic level -- possessing superhuman strength, lightning-fast speed, heightened hearing, magnified vision and the telepathic abilities to communicate with computers. The NSA soon realizes he is an untested asset and forms a Special Ops team with him at its core.

See, I had a problem with the last couple months of episodes. They just haven't been great. Joy was great when she was a back-ground character..now she gets as much screen time as Earl in most episodes. Crab Man's schtich is just wearing thin. Catalina all but dissapears for episodes at a time and Earl just seems Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy to nice now. The only good edition to Earl as of late is Tim Stack as Washed up Tim Stack. And the last 3-4 episodes have been pretty unfunny. The season finale just sealed it up for me.

well...i'm sticking w/ the shows i already watch, but as far as the new shows...the only one that remotely sounds appealing is the bionic woman remake...and that's only because i'm curious how they'll handle an updated version of the character and mae whitman is in it...yes, her...<god i miss arrested development...:( >

Is Law & Order:Criminal Intent canceled, or is just pushed back as a mid-season replacement. CT's been my favorite of the 3 series the last couple of ytears and I'd hate to see it go.

probably Midseason slot.. Intent is a pretty good show. But I think people would rather just see the crime and the resolution, instead of the How's and Why's.

Heroes 100%, My name is Earl, Bionic woman.. not sure about, CHUCK.. nah.

NO!

As has been said by me and Sean Walsh repeatedly now, Criminal Intent will move to USA Network next season for it's first run episodes. Repeats will then air on NBC.

Neither. The original episodes are shifting to the USA Network for first airing.
