Can anyone please inform on any miracleman TPB?
I've been looking around the net, but it seems I can only find single issues, or one 3D something paperback. I understand that miracleman's ownership is in limbo, or at least it was some 5 years ago. But there must be some TPB from back in the day...

thanks

There are, I believe, five TPBs, but most of them are just as expensive as the original issues, if not more so. The TPB of the rarest issues (#10-15) is at least as difficult to find as the issues themselves.

Honestly, if you want to read Miracleman, your best bet is to, shall we say, resort to illegal means.

I've got the entire first-edition run of Miracleman.

I figure out that by the time my daughter, AKA "the Evil 13-Year-Old," is ready for college, Miracleman will pay for it.

actually, there's probably not a better time to sell than 2004ish-now. I mean, between illegal downloads and the ever more likely threat of new trades, the bubble on those is bound to burst.

lawsuits, unlike diamonds, aren't forever.

I see. I'm moving to the UK in September, I hope that I'll be able to find some forgotten miracleman copies there.... somehow... Meanwhile I'll be trying my luck on ebay. I don't like to read comics on the screen, I'm old-fashioned I guess.
But wasn't Todd Mcfarlane republishing the series, is the lawsuit between him and Neil Gaiman still on? I've been off comics for some years now, sorry.

It is a lot trickier than that. A lot of people lay claim to the books and characters.

Just to get the original question answered...

TPB Vol 1 Miracleman: A Dream of Flying (Moore/Leach & Davis)
TPB Vol 2 Miracleman: The Red King Syndrome (Moore/Davis)
TPB Vol 3 Miracleman: Olympus (Moore/Totleben)
TPB Vol 4 Miracleman: The Golden Age (Gaiman/Buckingham)

Volume 1 contains issues 1-3
Volume 2 contains 4-7 and 9
Volume 3 contains 10-16
Volume 4 contains 17-22

Volume 3 is by far the toughest to find.
I have two cover versions of volume 4, one looks like the UK version and one the US version each from Eclipse.
Ive seen hard cover versions of each.
I see TPB Volumes 1,2 and 4 gor for around $40 each
Ive seen TPB versions of #3 go for over 100
Ive seen hard cover version of each go for about 3x the TPB versions.

Why so much? The legal issues surrounding the ownership of the Miracleman franchise means there are not likely to be more reprints anytime soon, and the first three volumes are held in very high regard for their ground breaking content.

Im not sure on the pricing, but thats what I see them usually go for.

I lucked into TPBs 1,2 and 2 copies of #4 for about $40 around a year ago on ebay, they were UK editions and had price stickers on them, but considering I was looking for content not collectibility this seemed like a deal...

The earliest issues are pretty easy to find, and even wind up in $1 bins at comic cons from time to time. It was very heavily ordered back in the day. The later ones are much harder to come by.

An alternative is to find the earliest appearances in WARRIOR, the black and white UK mag. About the first 7 or so issues of the colorized, American version originally appeared in that. I've found lots of those, really cheap, at Wizard World Philadelphia. There's tons of great stuff in there in addition, such as the first chapters of V for Vendetta, the Bojeffries Saga, and great work by other creators.

Also, I agree that now is the time to sell. I have all the original issues as well, and plan on keeping them, but if you want to make a profit, drop 'em off asap.

I've had the hardest time finding these, at least at a price I can afford. I still only have about three issues. My most recent issue, however, is the first issue, which I got in a larger lot. It's in remarkably great condition. It looks brand new. I hate CGC and am completely ignorant of it, but that won't stop me from guessing it would be 9.5 or higher.

I saw a guy selling most of the early run recently, but he wanted more than I was willing to pay for them.

I also would rather not read comics on a screen. It just kinda takes the magic out of it for me, as well as losing the thrill of the hunt.

Note that issue 8 is a filler story (reprints? I don't recall) so that's why it's not reprinted. Issues 23 and 24 aren't reprinted at all, so I've seen VERY high prices for those.
