Name a movie that wasn't resolved at the end and you had no idea what was going on because nothing is explained.
For me that movie would be The Fountain.

Magnolia.
Only went b/c the girl I was dating was an artsy-fartsy type. I walked away: "Frogs? Are you serious? Frogs?"

I believe it was a biblical referecne. And I'd hardly call that movie 'artsy-fartsy'.

No, I get the reference fine. But the movie *I thought* was about the human condition and these people dealing with it and how their stories inter-twined. I felt the movie was talking about 'coincidents' and how things are meant to tie in with each other to a higher meaning. I was waiting for some 'magical' sign at the end to make me say 'Oooh... now it makes sense.' What do I get instead?
A plague of raining frogs in LA.
Really? It was all a biblical metaphor? Was the director trying to tell me LA was in the middle of a disastrous plague and that nothing short of plagues would heal me? That all that plight the characters went through amount to nothing, cause you know what; God had another idea for ya! Maybe I'm shallow, or I didn't read into the symbolism enough (or maybe cause I fell asleep halfway) but just like the OP asked: It left me with NOTHING. As in, 'wow, I could've used that 3 1/2 hrs doing homework. Or DL'ing music, or watching old DVD's. Anything.
EDIT: Ok, maybe I used the term 'artsy-fartsy' a little liberally :D, but you get the idea. I'm just so tainted by that scene being an Angeleno myself, and I associate my dislike in certain media to 'crazy for the sake of crazy'.

Go watch the scene in lion king where mufasa explains the circle of life, then watch another movie from the guy who did The Fountain, maybe Pi, then watch The Fountain again.
You will understand the simple story, and the fact that he never progressed being being a 2nd year art student in his filmmaking.
Combine them, voila.

Children of Men
Just watched this yesterday and it has so many more questions than answers:
1. Why did the infertility start?
2. Why did Ki or whatever her name is suddenly become pregnant?
3. Did Clive Owen's character survive?
4. What about the midwife?
5. Did they make it and is it the right boat?
6. Will there be more pregnancies?
It was a good movie except for all the unanswered stuff.
