There's a thread going on in the Avengers board because some people think Slott either demonized Bush or didn't demonize him enough in Avengers: The Initiative #2. Which got me thinking, what other real life figures have provided potentially controversial moments in the Marvel Universe? Granted, a good chunk of these are probably going to be pre-Internet, so there's a lot less whining about them. Still, you have to assume that things like Ronald Reagan turning into a snake and fighting Captain America on the White House lawn would have stirred up a hornet's nest had the net existed in '87.

Similarly, when Richard Nixon was implied to be the head of the Secret Empire.

There's implied George Bush whom the Punisher threatened in the Oval Office.

Reed Richards agreeing to go along with Henry Kissinger.

Jay Leno and Spider-Man. Nuff Said.

I remember Dubya being portrayed as kind of a dolt in the first volume of the Ultimates.

Wonder where Millar got that characterization from?

Yeah, but then there's pretty much the whole of Supreme Power, but I kind of think we should stick to main universe stuff.
