BE QUIET! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? STOP IT!! I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE YELLED AT A GIRL LIKE THIS! WHEN MY MOTHER YELLS LIKE THIS IT'S BECAUSE SHE LOVES ME! I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU! WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU! HOW DARE YOU! LEARN SOMETHING FROM THIS! WHEN YOU GO TO BED AT NIGHT YOU LAY THERE AND YOU TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOURSELF BECAUSE NOBODY'S GOING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOU. YOU ROLLIN' YOUR EYES YOU ACT LIKE IT'S 'CAUSE YOU HEARD IT ALL BEFORE. YOU HEARD IT ALL BEFORE? YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE THE HELL I COME FROM. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH. BUT I'M NOT A VICTIM. I GROW FROM IT AND I LEARN. Take responsibility for yourself. [Tiffany turns and exits.]

The three core books are enjoyable reads, but my personal favorite is X-Men. It's just really, really, really great.

Try X-Men First Class, X-Men, and X-Factor. Those books are amazing, and I would recommend these to anyone. However, New X-Men and Astonishing X-Men are doing quite well (New X-Men is quickly getting better). Please, please, please don't get Uncanny X-Men.

I gonna have to say that you should definately stay away from X-Men First Class. X-Factor is not much better. In my opinion you should start with Uncanny. It has a new storyline stating in June and should be a lot of fun. Plus Brubaker is like the best writer in comics.

I would have probably said the same thing about your first post but I don't like to downgrade other peoples opinions directly.
To banana91, you asked what of the main three titles was the most worth picking up. So here is my opinion.
~Astonishing, while great, is almost over. And we still don't know who is taking over after Whedon leaves. But if you want to go round up a bunch of back issues or get the trades, that's cool. Over all it's one of the most self contained book I've ever read, and doesn't rely on a whole lot of back story. It's definately worth it.
~Uncanny is awesome. Ever since issue 475 it has been a wild ride. But it relies a lot on what happened in the Deadly Genesis limited series. They are both written by Ed Brubaker, who since he has been at Marvel has reinvigerated three great books with Cap, Daredevil, and Uncanny. He is definately on the top of my best writers list right now. But like I said a new storyline starts in June, and it reunites Storm with the X-Men which rocks.
~X-Men is really great as well. Mike Carey is one of the best these days as well. He has brought back a lot of the coolness that has been missing from the X-Men. For someone new to the X-Men it might not be the best to read though. Eventhough there are a lot of new characters, the upcoming storyline seems like it is going to rely very heavily on a lot of back story.
