What TV shows do you watch that you never thought you would?
Brothers & Sisters is a show I never thought I would watch, let alone be completely interested in. The character interactions are really complex and realistic. Pretty good. Only problem is that I love Without a Trace too. Damn Sunday nights and their amazing TV show selection!

I suppose the only thing on my list that might be out of the ordinary for me is Veronica Mars. I didn't watch it the first two seasons simply because I didn't get UPN. I caught up over the summer and we now get the CW on the old WB station. Its probably the most normal of my shows which are Prison Break, Heroes, 24, Veronica, The Shield, Lost, Smallville, and Supernatural.

Heroes because I thought it wouldn't be possible to make such an amazing concept into a show. I was only picturing movies. Also, dramas are freaking addicting. I already watch Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Grey's Anatomy, and I'm looking foward to the new drama of the summer Army Wives. :) I'm a complete mess!!!

At first I thought Boston Legal would be another Ally Mc Beal, which woulof mean pure crapness to me since I hated every freaking second of that show. Kelley cut off all the idiotic songs and horrible dancing moments, focused more on humor..and now I'm a huge BL fan

I gave The West Wing a shot a few months ago after hearing all the great reports about it but I never thought I'd like it. I'm not particularly interested in politics and I was expecting a poe-faced, wittless drama with weak and - seeing as how this is a show about politics - unlikable characters that hammered me over the head with frankly obvious observations about how awful politicians could be. Needless to say, I came into the show knowing absolutely NOTHING about it and needless to say, the pilot took me by complete surprise. The West Wing (specifically the Sorkin years but there's loads of good drama even after that) has now joined Buffy and Freaks and Geeks at the top of all time top three hour-long shows of all time list.

Buffy tVS. My first reaction to hearing about it was: "What?! They're making a TV show out of that shitty movie? Why would I wanna watch that?"
But I kept hearing good things and finally when FX began showing reruns I started watching and loved almost every minute. The cool thing was season 5 was about a month away when they started and they showed like 10 episodes a week so it didn't take long to catch up at all.

I watched Army Wives this past Sunday, since Brothers & Sisters is done. :( I have to say it is a fantastic show. I was drawn in immediately. The characters and lives of each person is so unique and interesting. Has anyone else seen it?

Pretty much my reaction to BL as well. I never watched Ally McBeal and nothing the commercials did ever drew me into BL. It wasn't until I had no cable one night and ABC was the only channel with decent recption that I sat and watched the show. And since then I have been a HUGE fan of Denny crane and Alan Shore.
Alias also surprised me. I was expecting the show just to be a plotless excuse to show its star in various tight and /or revealing outfits. I watched the second season premiere and found myself surprised the show actually had a story to it in addition to the many wardrobe changes of Jennifer Gardener.

Becker. I ignored it until it went into syndication, and my insomnia returned.
It's like someone was following me around with a tape recorder, and just got Ted Danson's dickhead dialogue out of that. Other than his office staff, and his blind friend, I can't really stand the rest of the cast, but I like watching Becker be Becker.
Star Trek: DS9. I've never liked any Star Trek series outside of STNG, which varied from okay to good, imo. Though it did begin my appreciation for Patrick Stewart.
STDS9 was effin' awesome. Captain Sisko is the ultimate, and I would follow that bastard to hell and back. I got especially giddy when he shaved the head and brought the goatee back. For a week I kept saying, "Hawk is back, baby."

Recently, Scrubs suprised the heck out of me.
I had seen previews and heard of Scrubs in the past, but I thought it was just another dumb comedy.
And then, last month, I saw a little bit of an episode and thought it was funny. Then I watched a whole episode and liked it a lot!
Now, I'm actually taping Scrubs! I like it that much!!
The humor is just so off-the wall. Its a wacky, silly, stupid, hilarous, amazing show. Well-written, well acted, and well directed. Scrubs is just THE best comedy on right now!
I'm very happy that I found this show on Comedy Central. I definitly like it a lot.

Dr Who, I always found it to be a little cheesy and I never got into it but I was bored and rented the first season and thought it was okay. I went into the second season and after a rocky start I starting getting more into it. But now the third season has come along and I think its the best show I have ever seen, the last two episodes were very touching and very hard to watch I almost broke down in the last 10 minutes and that hadn't happened to me since the finale of 6 feet under.
I really hope that it can pull an Office and win an Emmy because this season is the best sci-fi drama I have seen in the last 10 years.

Same here. I didn't think much of THG though, so I'd given up on Star trek until DS9 turned me into a Gemidar hate monger, grrrr.

Buffy TVS: I hated the movie and when I heard about the tv show I practically ignored it straight through. It wasn't till I accidently caught around an episode that involved faith whare I began to see that the series is actually pretty good and not shitty like it's movie counterpart.
Doctor Who: The concept didn't interest me that much but when I watched the first episode that involved the Tenth Doctor I was pretty much glued towards the series

I don't really get surprised by how much I end up liking a show. I watch a LOT of TV, and I'm not very picky about it. But I have been surprised twice.
First, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Like others, the movie really turned me off of the show. Oh, I never watched the movie, but it looked incredibly stupid (and I was proven correct when I finally did watch it). And the fact that my sister, who just entering her teens, liked it, was another reason for me not to. But during the 4th season, my sister's cable provider dropped the WB. So, like the good brother I am, I decided I'd tape the episodes (and Angel) for her. One night after work, I was bored with nothing to watch, so I decided to watch that night's episodes. It was the haunted frat house Halloween episode. I was hooked. I've since hooked my wife, my best friend's wife, my best friend, a woman I work with, and soon another guy I work with.
The second show that surprised me was The West Wing. I am not a political guy. I'm one of the most politically ignorant people I know. Why would I watch a show about politics? But my friend had the first season on DVD and suggested I watch it. I got him hooked on Buffy, so he'd try to return the favor. It only took the first episode to hook me. And the politics were a second to the great acting and great scripts.

The British version of the Office won the emmy for its first season (might have been a golden globe).

Mark me down with the Buffy crowd. I had never seen an episode until 2 years ago. A couple friends of mine watched the show religiously and kept telling me to watch it. I thought it was just a teen 90210 esque show and I couldn't have been more wrong. I burned through all 7 seasons and 5 seasons of Angel in about a month and a half. I'd put both those shows up against any show now.

Forever Knight. I went into this series with a "gimme whatcha got" kind of attitude. I was very impressed.
And then Season 3 happened. A near tragedy, how bad it was.

The Class.
The concept seemed very limiting, the cast was filled with nobodies, and the characters all started out as irritating stereotypes, but I gave it a few episodes and it grew on me. A bit of a shame that it was cancelled.

I usually hate everything my sister's into. Well, not hate...I just find them unappealing. So when she was watching Buffy, I immediately made the decision that it was a crappy show.
One summer, I had a few days off from work and nothing to do, so I wound up staying up late and watching TV. Back then, they had Buffy and Angel in syndication. I got hooked on both shows that summer.
