Now, I know they are going to do a 100 episode live action series, but this is the first I have heard of additional movies (even if they are made for TV and are only an hour long each):

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270874,00.html

Lucas, by the way, says he is readying "Clone Wars," an animated series for TV that's derived from "Star Wars." Many "Star Wars" characters appear in "Clone Wars," but voiced by other actors.

And here's a little news: Lucas tells me he will make two more live-action films based in the "Star Wars" era.

"But they won't have members of the Skywalker family as characters," he said. "They will be other people of that milieu."

The two extra films will also be made for TV and probably be an hour long each. But, like "Clone Wars," Lucas doesn't know where on TV they will land.

In the same interview, Lucas had some comments on Indy IV (mostly that he can't talk about it):

Lucas is currently preparing "Indiana Jones 4" with Harrison Ford, Blanchett and Shia LaBoeuf. The latter plays Ford's son, which means his mother was possibly the character Karen Allen played in "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

"I can't say," Lucas said when I brought up Allen.

Lucas says that Sean Connery still hasn't signed on, but his character, Indy's dad, is in the script. Other than that, his lips are sealed.

"Steven thinks we can keep the whole thing a secret," Lucas told me. "I explained to him that it's impossible nowadays. We can't live like that."

So then, tell me more about "Indy 4," I suggested.

"Oh no," replied Lucas with a smile.

And, finally, his thoughts on Spider-man 3:

Lucas told me he has seen all the summer movies since his company, Industrial Light and Magic, does most of the special effects. The only one they didn't work on was "Spider-Man 3." What did he think of it?

"It's silly. It's a silly movie," he said. "There just isn't much there. Once you take it all apart, there's not much story, is there?"

Well, it's not "Star Wars."

"People thought 'Star Wars' was silly, too," he added, with a wink. "But it wasn't."

He's lost it.

If he's going to make another Star Wars film, it should be devoted to the 20-year time period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. There's so many holes left to fill there.

I believe that is what the TV series is going to be about.

George Lucas is a visionary genius, and is NOT crazy. Everything he touches turns to gold, and he nurtures out the true beauty of cinema with his divine filmmaking. He is so wonderful that I want to have his babies. In fact, I think there should be a church built in his name. :)

I almost get the impression he's talking about doing these "live action movies" in lieu of the full-fledged live-action TV show.

Like maybe he realized that doing a full-on TV Show was a lot more work (and expense) than he thought it would be and is scaling it back to "specials" instead of a series.

I mean, I think the last time he commented on the live-action series he said some crazy thing like he was going to produce 100 episodes before he even put any of them on the air.....

1. get kevin smith or brian henson involved. We need people who can balence out george lucas' vision. both have proven they would do well as such.
2. Do not let him do any romance scenes. If he must, let somebody else write them.
3. make both darth vader and boba fett scarry. give those fandalorians an excuse to have such a fan feel.

if he does these, it actually could be awesome. :)

Something tells me that they wil just be kid-friendly fluff like those horrible Ewok movies. The man is out of touch with his own vision at this point.

Even though I know youre joking, I still feel like punching you.

And I like him talking smack about Spider-Man 3 like he didnt make The Phantom Menace. Or ruin the original trilogy.

The man is a half-wit.

Spiderman 3 is silly?

You mean it isn't good like the ads say it is, it's silly?

So should I change my mind and not go see it?

He has his nerve trashing comic book movies considering how much he stole from comic books, and never acknowledged.

I hate him more than any of the rest of you.

Devin from CHUD.com cracks me up. (http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=news&id=10176)

By the way, I must come clean – I have run this story to see which you guys are more rabidly angry about: Spider-Man 3 or George Lucas. I only wish there could have been a new Transformers design unveiled as well, and that Lucas had also called Serenity ‘gay.’ We could have destroyed the Internet with that story.

What can you say to that but "Wow"?

George Lucas is now officially the poster child for "Complete and Utter Lack of Self-Awareness."

You know even a evil empire has to protect it's citizens and keep order. If your the emperor you can not allow pirates, gangsters, brain munching alien what the hell's picking on your citizens. Dead citizens don't pay taxes!

So between looking for luke and the rebels Vader would have been sent out to solve thses problems. So Darth Vader on tv can play the hero [of a sought and with a real bad atitude] as the agent of the empire and the protector [if they know their place] of the people!:evilsmile

Except that, being a kid at the time, I liked those Ewok movies.

Well... the second one anyways.

I can safely say I never cared for those movies.

The only impressive thing that the Ewok movies ever did was kill her brother and her parents at the beginning of the 2nd one. I was shocked by that.

hmm i think that if he did do two made for tv movies that weren't to do with the other two projects, it'd be cool if he did something based after the original trilogy or during the OT. Anyone else want to see a rogue squadron based story?

Two, hour long telemovies doesn't make much sense. I'm guessing Lucas was talking about the planned live action series in development and misspoke, or the writer misinterpreted him. What is probably being referred to is a two-hour pilot for the series, which will probably be able to stand more or less alone (and be released that way later) if the series doesn't work out.

Unless there's bad blood between him and Raimi, I can't imagine why he would seriously have bashed Spidey 3 for, of all things, silliness. Lucas refers to Star Wars (or elements of it) as silly all the time. But then, Lucas is also prone to mispronouncing and misnaming his own creations, so who knows...
