I love the appearance of the Ark of the Covenant! Took me a few times to spot it for sure...that is one seriously nice CG piece of art.

So, how did the clips relate in Mike's notes to you?

The Phantom Claw is the Nazis/mad scientist/Rasputin side of Hellboy.
I believe the connection was something like:

"Hey, did you see the giant Nazis robot on You Tube?"

The movies Pearl Harbor and Sky Captain Man of Tomorrow SHOULD have been!! Great stuff :D I also loved how the US pilots kept saying HOLY SH--, but not completing the word...as Mike has sometimes done in his comics.

The final scene reminded me of Sky Captain too, mainly because of those life-sized inflatable robots they had in the park across the street from the convention centre at SDCC in 2004.

What I want to know is why they didn't send the giant robot to out in the first place.

Ya, and why didn't we get to see the American robot throw down with the Japanese robot?!

I'm guessing they ran out of time.

Is it sad that Lars and I sat there complaining about the military strategy the entire time we watched? Yes we are sad little rivet-counters.

The first goal of the NaziBot should have been to take out the battleships. In fact, NaziGundam should have just come up underneath the battleships and punched holes in their hulls...oh noes, the ships are suddenly sinking, there's mass confusion onshore, then we see Nazimus Prime crashing through the surface of the water! The 16-inch guns on those battleships would have been much more effective against NaziUltraman than the machine guns on those Mustangs, but they didn't even use them.

It was lovely though, and it's nice to see someone else using 3DSMax for animation instead of Maya and Lightwave. People say it can't be done. Harrumph.

I was bothered by the illogical strategy too. I looks really good but it seems that their main goal was to do a picture about two robots duking it out, which was less exciting than they might think because the robots' identical scales made neither of them seem all that big. I would have preferred a more David & Goliath story with the monstrous but ultimately inefficient Nazi technology being taken down by good ol' Allied smarts and derring-do, especially since that's how it often went.

The ending kinda fizzled out. I'm not really clear on what happened there. I think "ran out of time/money" is a good theory.

It looks good though.

Great animation. My favorite part were the planes . The kingfisher ,I liked those planes they had interchangable landing gear. P51 ,those were great air crafts, one of the best planes during WWII, the US were proud of those . We have one of those in the air power musium still flies to, They take them out on occassion here in my neighborhood, they also have the Corsair, the P40, these radiall engines (Corsair),the other engines can be quite impressive......

The stategy could have been better. Those Robots were great. allways keeping up with the enemy.

C'mon people. Of course it didn't show proper strategy. Those facts are only coming to light now.

The actual giant robot attack started out with a fifth column movement inside the United States. Giant robots went undercover as factory workers and even enlisted as American servicemen.

Thank God the giant robot saboteurs were uncovered when they couldn't correctly name the starting line up of the 1939 Yankees.

Just another case of "they-should-have-made-it-this-way".
To which the answer usually is, "when you make your
Giant-Robot movie...".:D

For what is was, it was a Hoot.;)
