A "lost" New Mutants story? Why, that's the magic word!
Just hope it's the 616 version of Magik who comes back, not the HoM version.

See, I'm SO confused about this 616/HoM thing. HoM is technically NOT an alternate universe- its just a slightly different version of 616, or something like that. Wanda made the world a "happier" place and thus made it so Illyana never died. Half the superheroes, like Kitty, Cyclops and Emma all remember their life in HoM, meaning it was THEM actually living it. So isn't HoM Illyana our 616 version, just revived from the dead? That's what makes sense to me, somehow. I hope Yost and Craig get the memo too, because I hate the idea of having an "alternate" Illyana around.
Okay, rant over.

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that the execution of this will be vastly better than Inferno or anything that occurred during Weezie's run....

Eh, I'd be excited if it was Claremont writing this story. Weezie's version of Magik sucked huge balls.

Yep. It's also possible that the revived Illyana may have her memories restored... but hoesntly, I think there's some good story potential for working with the HOM version too (especially in Kitty's reaction, as this Illyana never even knew her), and she may be easier to fit in with the NXM students.

HOM Magik knew versions of most of the New X-Men students, so I agree that she might fit in better with them now. But the differences between the New X-Men characters she knew and the 616 New X-Men would still be a bit jarring to her. Especially the ones who were "villains" in HOM and working with the HOM S.H.I.E.L.D.

More good story potential too... her brother turned out a bit differently too. C&C could do a lot with that sort of friction I think.

See, I LOVED Inferno, and Illyana's part in it. Weezie's run was hit or miss, but I really did love her Illyana.

Cool. I looking forward to reading Mystic Arcana.
Even if the idea of the Tarot originating in Ancient Egypt is silly.

decent interior art by Scott...it's exciting to see those New Mutant costumes in print again...the "dad's underwear" part of the uniform is kinda big though
lengthy, but informative interview that sheds some light on Magik's character (past & present). Simonson's love for the character shows through...i love that

Tarot is really a kind of card game. Tarot cards are playing cards. Tarot cards do not come from Egypt and there were not created for fortune telling. There is no evidence at all they were intended to mean anything. The tarot deck was created in 15th century Italy for playing a card game similar to spades and hearts and for no other reason. Tarot card games are still played today in Europe, especially in France and Austria. Many of the players today are using a more modern looking deck with spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs and the trump pictures have very different scenes than fortune telling decks. Despite popular misconceptions, tarot is not some mysterious oracle but a type of card game.
This post may seem out of place in a comic book forum as myths are often a part of that genre, but since few people seem to know the facts regarding tarot cards It might be worthwhile to start posting the facts as we would then know fact from fantasy.:D

I thought that she'd return as the HoM version, as it's been suggested (not by the writers though) that she remained alive because she was teleporting when Wanda undid all of her changes, so wasn't changed back to her 616 version.
Maybe Limbo wasn't affected during HoM, since Ilyana uses Limbo as a midway when she teleports it could mean she too was unaffected.
I wonder what happened to the Soulsword as nobody seems to have it (maybe Belasco as he seems to control Limbo atm).
Sorry, a bit off topic.
Really looking foward to this mini, anyone know who else is going to appear in the series? I've read that Wanda, Nico and the Black Knight are each getting an issue, but I'm not sure if that's true.

Nightcrawler has the soulsword. It's stored inside of his body. Much like Staff of One. Amanda Sefton placed it there for safe keeping, as was revealed in the Nightcrawler solo series.

Thanks Beast, quick response :)
The Mystic Arcana covers are brilliant, especially the ones featuring Magik and the Scarlet Witch.
