View Full Version : OT- DH shipping Schedule

Okay, so I'm a little confused here. According to Diamond's latest shipping schedule for this week, there's no BPRD and no Satan's *bleep* Baby:

http://www.diamondcomics.com/shipping/shipping_050907.txt

I don't want to turn sour and start pointing fingers at DH (why bite the hand that feeds you great comics, right?), but I'm honestly curious when we're actually going to see Satan's *bleep* Baby, or is it just going to turn into vaporware? *crosses fingers that Diamond just messed up the schedule*

I thought this item was on hold.

BTW, as an addendum to my own rant and in all fairness to DH, the answer to my question about when Satan's is shipping is located here:

I'm not sure what's going on with BPRD this week, but I hope it ships.

According to the Darkhorse website, BPRD is scheduled to still be released on the 9th. However, with the way dates have changed with this particular title, being behind in releasing previews and whatnot, it could be liable for change. Since I'm running down to my comic store to pick up it and Darkness Calls, I hope everything stays on track.

Booo. The DarkHorse site says May 16th now for BPRD.

I'm not meaning to sound ungrateful, but this is the second time it's happened. BPRD and Hellboy both are constantly being pushed back, and I just want to know why.

Before I say what I'm about to say, I want to say that I completely empathize with you, Zombie.

I guess this is what happens when a company puts out a quality product on time (for the most part) consistently- fans begin to expect that same timeliness every month. Now I understand DH having problems with titles being pushed back due a SPAM rejection issue with their printer, but I just hope this doesn't become the new norm.

eeek, I just noticed BPRD is pushed back to the 23rd now. Wanted to let you all know so you don't make a trip out to the comic shop tomorrow if thats all you're getting.

This continues to upset me, but what can we do? I would, however, really like to know why it keeps being pushed back.

Okay, now I'm officially confused. Satan's is off the list for this week (even though it was pushed back several times supposedly due to the mix-up at the printers), but BPRD is on! If you check out the DH site though, it has BPRD listed for next week, not this week as Diamond is reporting.

Me am confu-sed!

This is one of those no-win situations where everyone did exactly what they were supposed to, when they were supposed to (and I can promise that, since I keep track of the schedules for our books!), and the comic's late because of weird-ass printing problems. I would guess that those are at least tangentially related to the FCBD rush, which has been was responsible for a lot of delays in April and May. And then there was the mess with the spam filter (see Neil's link, above), which meant those books got pushed back, and if the printer was already full up with other books...

You get the idea.

Timing comics is a frustratingly precise science, and one wrench in the gears--at any stage--can throw off schedules for months. Believe me when I say that we hate late books as much as you do, especially when they're not our fault.

Thanks for chiming in, Rachel. So, all of that being said (and well put, mind you), any word on when Satan's *&^% Baby and BPRD are shipping? Is it this week, next week, 3 months from now, etc.? Just trying to get an idea is all. :D

Yes to Garden of Souls, but unfortunately no to SSB. Hoping next week, and then Darkness Calls the following week!

Went to the comic shop... I saw satans !#*% baby ...They have a hefty lable on the cover...... The comic shop guy said...."I don't think I have anything to worry much kids don't really come in here". As I read the lable, I would have to say that they are not just concered about the kids. My opinion would have to be. the psychos, and the seriosly psverted adults.

Well, your comic shop can't be the only one that got a copy. Are there any other folks who picked up a copy of this book this week?

The BPRD discussion thread got sidetracked by that topic: WARNING, spoilers for BPRD Garden of Souls (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?p=4828174#post4828174).

If you don't want to follow the link and risk BPRD spoilers: some shops have gotten it and some haven't. I expect it has to do with Diamond having to bag the books themselves since the printer neglected to do it. They're probably only shipping what they have. A few places got it last week.

So, to summarize from the bits and pieces I've heard about all of this: Darkhorse sent Satan's Sodomy Baby electronically to the printer along with Garden of Souls and another book (Rex Mundi?) on the same message. But the SSB title got caught in the printer's spam filter and the whole message got junked. Later the printer found it, printed it and sent it to Diamond. But they neglected to bag SSB. So Diamond is bagging it themselves. But they shipped to some stores and not others. It comes with a free frogurt. But the frogurt is also cursed. It comes with your choice of toppings. But the toppings contain potassium benzoate...

I ate some cursed frogurt back in 1989...chocolate banana swirl in a waffle cone. With jimmies. Who knew that "TCBCY" really stood for "This Can't Be Cursed Yogurt!"

It turned me into a newt.

I got better.

Some people see the Claw of Justice. I see a monstrous Cheeto.

In 1948, a zombie Lobster Johnson fought a giant cornmeal & ectoplasm behemoth that escaped from the Frito-Lay factory in Plano, Texas. Apparently several workers had fallen into some cheese-mangling machinery and were crushed. There was a cover-up by management...but the workers' vengeful, be-hair-netted spirits rose up and merged with the cheesy goodness to create, well...60-foot tall, oven-baked evilness.

Thankfully LoJo was able to infiltrate the sinister snack with a strategically placed ZINCO grenade -- the resulting psychosupernatural explosion rained crispy bits of the monster all over Collin County. Some of the older folks remember it as "the day it rained orange".

And that, my friends, is how Cheetos came to be.

"Dangerously cheesy" indeed.

Okay, so SSB shipped to some stores, but not others? LOL, this is the strangest thing I've seen with a comic shipping schedule in quite awhile. Is it being stored behind the counter at LCS's like porn?! How the heck do we Powell fans get our mits on this book?!! :o

Since I have seen the comic . I will say, first comic shop has to order. All the bags need labels, Then there will be more shipments. Some are kept behind the counter. Some maybe on the shelf because they have a hefty label. Only those comic shops that ordered will get them.

That included my own personal order. So my shop ordered them. They didn't ship.

I know Kelly goes to another shop in Calgary and he can confirm if they placed an order (which I'm fairly certain they would have).

It's a curse, I tell you.

Has Anyone else read the label on the bags?. I seriosly doubt that they will send 30 to the store. My guy only ordered 1. They don't want just anyone to get there hands on it. When my shop opens I will see if he still has it.

Yes Thanks for posting it. When it gets to the point of saying illegal in some states. I would assume they need to take out the time to find out first.

...

That label is somewhat serious but mostly tongue-in-cheek. It's hardly legal text. The "scum-of-the-earth, filth-licking, dirt bag degenerate who only takes pleasure in depravity and perversion" clause kind of gives it away. You realize that means you are a dirt bag degenerate, since you bought the comic? :D

Even if it had raised an eyebrow at Canada Customs, which I doubt since this is the land of full frontal nudity and swearing on broadcast TV, the whole shipment would have been delayed and I wouldn't have gotten my BPRD.

Asa

My Apologies if I have offended anyone. I didn't buy it. My feild of experties is exactly were this comic falls. I just thought I could help with understanding why. English is my second language and perhaps I have come on to strong ...

........
I see you edit your post. I did read it though. I will leave my post as I hope noone else was offended

Maija

Hahaha! So you're not a dirt bag degenerate after all. :) Sorry, since you said "I have seen the comic" I thought you meant that you had bought and read it. No offense meant and no offense taken.

Yeah, fans of The Goon are familiar with the sometimes edgy humour and horror of the series and recognize that the hyping of the allegedly extreme offensiveness of this book is itself meant to be a joke (and all the screw-ups with printing and distribution have only added to the joke). I'm sure that this book will make me exclaim "EWW!!" and I wouldn't have it on the coffee table when the pastor comes to call but I doubt it contains any content that is actually illegal anywhere in North America.
