I saw the series from beginning to end and I still don't know what a scub coral is.

^Really. I thought that was the *only* mystery in the series that they *completely* explained. I'm more confused about Trapar waves, and I only understand about 80% of the Limit of Questions, but I got that the Scub Corals were Aliens that landed on Earth thousands of years ago, started assimilating/absorbing all life on the planet's oceans, then tried to communicate with Humanity but failed, so tried to assimilate, were perceived as a threat, and the humans left the Earth. Later, humans returned to Earth, only to find that a new layer of crust was built around it by the Scub Corals, who were living deep within the Earth with no real purpose until the humans came back, at which point they resumed their desire to communicate--but they knew attempting to assimilate with them would be perceived as a threat again, so they instead opted for the creation of Humanoid Scub Corals to go learn about humans face to face.

It were pretty, but the plotline was about the most confusing thing I've heard since "The Big O".

I mean, seriously, I don't know whether the blame for this falls on the original writers or the people who do the translation and localisation, but somewhere along the track it jumped off the rails.

I'm almost positive I missed at least one episode, but I still liked it. It was a little confusing but well done, a few more explanations would have been nice though. The end was difficult to understand for me. It may have been that it ended so quickly(fast paced last ep.) but I was having a hard time keeping up.

...and i missed last Saturdays' Champloo... please tell me it wasn't the last episode!? I caught the one before it, it ended saying something like "your standing in your grave", I'm so worried I missed the last one. T__T

I wouldn't call it one of my favorites (anime involving mecha aren't really my thing), but it was pretty good. The best part IMO was Anemone's storyline, which there sadly wasn't enough of. I kind of like the way I saw someone describe this series once as being "Evangelion with rainbows and sparkles." :p

That was Scub Coral explanation? I thought they were talking about the Coralians. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

As far as I can recall, Scub Corals = Coralians. With Coralians being a name that was associated with them because those giant cloud sphere's that appeared in the sky when the Corals got pissed were called Coralians. Notice also that Coralians starts with 'Coral'

y'know, I like this series BETTER than Neon Genesis Evangelion... if only because they don't feel like taking a piss on every single character in the last few episodes. Renton seems more admirable than Shinji... and, I dunno, I just liked it better. although I agree that Anemone was a fun character, and they could have used more of her.

I know that there are some DIE-HARD Shinji Ikari fans out there... but by the end of the series he had nothing but my contempt... and I LIKED him for the first half of the series... whereas Renton was sort of a schmoe at the Renton becomes a man. it's nice t6 have characters grow and mature. I recognize that Shinji's lack of growth makes him "realistic" and such, but I just didn't like Evangelion all that much... and all of the faux Christian imagery didn't sell me on it either.

Actually I do like Renton a bit more than Shinji, the only character I really liked in Evangelion was Asuka...

They're both whiny schmucks, but Renton didn't leave me wanting to beat him with a lead pipe until it bent.

Mind you, End of Evangelion was what really left me feeling that way about Shinji, so there's still a possiblity that they could do a Eureka 7 movie that would leave me with the burning desire to work on Renton's face with size 13 steel-toed cleats.

aw man, I knew I was tired... but that was some horrible typing on my part! :o

actually, the presence of Holland alone makes Eureka Seven a more entertaining show, in my opinion. I especially like the last episode where Renton's moping on the floor and Holland says "stand up"... Renton starts talking about what a failure he is and how he could never help anybody he cared for... and Holland, true to character shouts "I said STAND UP!" I dunno, but for some reason I loved that moment. :D then Holland proceeds to take Renton out to go get the girl he's been after for the whole series and pretty much says, "you're a man. go get her!"

hell, if a man like Holland had been around I think Shinji might have ended up differently too.

Wow a great Eureka 7 disscussion, awsome. I am a huge fan of E7, I dont think its better than Evangelion, well... maybe just a bit, well... Ah its too hard to say Im watching Eva again on DVD and I gotta say its still very good (then again I only just finished ep10) Anyway I belive E7 is what Eva could and would have been if Hideko Anno (director) didnt go a little off the deep end. Then again you gotta admit those last few episodes where extremly enthrawling. My only 1 ok 2 complaints about E7 is that the begining is kinda slow to develop the story and kinda had to try for a whole moment to try to get the know the charecters, a little too much work but well, well worth it. And my second is what someone else said they barly explained their tech and and the whole political, reliegious, goverment they had, it would have been nice to know from a earlier start what Gecko State was fighting. Also the Eva movies werent where Shinki lost it for me, he lost me when he's surround by all these ladies and especially Asuka who's practically begging for it and he just hids and does nothing. I mean comon at least hit Kaji up for some advise sheesh.

Oh one more thing Nearvage (hope I spelled it right) would whoop the tar out of Unit 01, no matter what, any day of the week.
