I've only read one issue of Walking Dead (a later issue) and thought it was good. I plan to get the first trade sooner or later.
As for Invincible....love it! The first trade is just the very, very, very, very tip of the iceberg. lol. Its just really a hint of this series. From there, the series just gets better and better and better. The last trade I read, Three's Company, was the best yet. Loved it. Lots of cool plots twists, action, suspense, etc. Kirkman is definitly one of the best comic writers today! Can't wait to read the latest trade, My Favorite Martian! :)
Btw, I read Kirkman's lastest comic, The Astonishing Wolf-Man, today.
My opinion: It was OK. It didn't blow me away like I thought it would. Thats not say it wasn't interesting. It was interesting. It just very different from say Invincible or Walking Dead though. Not sure yet if this is going to be one I'll like a lot or not. Or even if I'll pick up #2. Not sure yet. What did everyone else think?

Kirkman's a personal fav, has been for a while and I suspect will be for a long while to come.
WALKING DEAD vs. INVINCIBLE?
Gotta go with INVINCIBLE. It's been consistantly strong since day 1.
WD is great too, but Vol.5 TPB kinda.....disappointed me a bit. I did buy Vol.6 so maybe things pick up again.

I prefer Invincible to Walking Dead, but that's just a personal taste thing. They're both quality books.

I guess i love WD more than Invincible because we can all agree that soooo many Zombie books come out and they all suck but this book defeated all odds and came threw and well Invincible anyone can make a good superhero book i mean that is what comics are all about.

It's hard to choose between the two as they are two completely different books, but I think that I'd have to go with Invincible.

I think people have come out with alot more bad super hero books then bad zombie books. But I also pick TWD over Invincable over the plain fact that I have never wanted to pick up Invincible just because I dont like the art. Maybe Ill try it though. I do hear alot of good things about the title.

I have only read the first Invincible collection but I would say Walking Dead by a long way. It's a far more interesting story.

Invincible - in addition to being one of the most fun, new superhero titles to come out in the past decade, it also reminds me of my fave comic of all-time, Savage Dragon. That in itself would make Invincible the winner, but the fact that it's good on its right makes it all the better.

You would not really get it TWD if you jumped right it. You would start to understand after a few issues and along the way you could pick up the earlier trade. I say jump in and buy the trades when you have the extra money

I say you would have to diffently buy the trades because to me TWD is a whole story and doesnt really have story arcs like most stories do.

love Invincible , its like the marvel universe if the crappy 90s never happened - but ill go with the dead , cus zombies!!!!!!! - now if Invincible were ever to stumble into a universe full of superpowered zombies........
I like them both, but I'd definitely have to say Invincible. I love Invincible so much that I've bought the original issues, the trades and then again the Complete Invincible Library. I own these comics three times. I can't say that for anything else.
Invincible, though I love WD too.

Like torippu said in post #6, it's hard to compare because they're such different concepts. But I chose Invincible hands down because I am astonished at what Kirkman has done with "typical Superhero comics." Because it's not just another superhero comic. Those are out there all over the place. What Kirkman does in Invincible just feels fresher to me. More vibrant. WD is alright, but it's just too held down by the laws of reality. (Yeah, it's not realistic, but the people in it can't fly or have some sorta weird laffy-taffy coming outta their torso.) That extra room leads most writers into deus ex machina, but Kirkman just nails it.

That was a tough call but I gotta go with The Walking Dead. The story is just awesome. It's the only zombie book that doesn't suck.
But Invincible is still amazing in my opinion. The whole father/son battle thing is just great.

Invincible, I just look forward to it way more than Walking dead, and I love the walking dead.
This may seem weird but if you really want Invincible to hook you you should by the first two trades, because the real hook happens at the end of the second. At first it may seem like standard fare, but then BAMMO.

Yes, I read the first trade initially and left it. I caught up with it later, after reading people gushing over it and I became hooked. The first trade doesn't do enough to indicate where it's going.

Maybe it doesn't seem that way in singles, but the breakdown in the trades and hardcovers makes it feel as though there are definite six issue arcs.

I voted Walking Dead because I'm able to wait and read Invincible in trades but I have to get WD in singles.

Ironically, I bought INVINCIBLE on the strength of WALKING DEAD, and didn't care for it too much. Now I'd have to say INVINCIBLE is the superior book. I read both in collections, and I think WALKING DEAD has really fallen flat. The last collection left me pretty bored. Hopefully the next INVINCIBLE will keep up the momentum; that series really grew on me.

I was introduced to INvincible through trades but HAD to buy the monthlies b/c I feel with an indy book you've got to support the monthly or there won't be a trade . . .or a series.
I also look forward to the future where we can add a new title to this poll and start seeing feedback on The Astounding Wolf-Man.
My LCS originally was taken off guard and didn't realize it was an issue #1 of an ongoing and I thought I'd missed it -
thankfully they snagged me a copy and it's now on the ol' pull list. I loved it.
Werewolf as hero is long overdue. There are a few novels out there (not spandex hero, mind you) - one if called Wolf's Hour and the other Werewolf's Revenge.
If anyone's interested check out authors: Richard Jacoma and Robert McCammon.

Invincible. :)
He killed off Dupli-Kate! :(
You forgot Kirkman's other books.
The Astounding Wolf-Man, even though it only has one issue out, I like it.
Capes, it's a backup story, I'd buy a monthly series.

What is everyones favortie thing about Invincible like what makes it so much better than WD?
You know, maybe I'm way off, but Invincible seems to embrace cliché. It seems to take everything good about the superhero genre and illuminate it tenfold. It even has a bunch of cameos of Marvel and DC heroes (of course not exactly, but damn close enough). Kirkman doesn't seem to be deluded into thinking he's doing something new, but he's certainly doing something very very well. It stands proud, almost like the ultimate, "here's a book for all the 'superhero books suck' people."
That was a bit rambling, but really, I love this book and what it has done for the entire genre.
