do you guys think Gambit will return soon?
if so how do you think he'll come back?

I think he has somehow found a new body or his psyche went into the old body.

Doubtful. They just had the return of Beast. Don't wanna piss off people who hate resurrections even more by bringing yet another dead character back. It would have been better if Rogue just would have kept Gambit's powers and psyche. Instead of regressing back to what she was before once again.

Well, Kirkman seemed to be doing everything in his power to seperate Gambit from Rogue, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Gambit return eventually.

Lord knows we don't want any originality in our superhero comics.

I can't believe Ultimate Gambit died. I wanted to see more of him.

Hey, at least he went out in a blaze of glory.

I'm not really interested in seeing U-Gambit again unless they go with Austen's awesome version instead of Vaughan's caricature of 616 Gambit. In fact, if they just said the guy in Wolf's Run was some crazy guy and Remy Lebeau still hadn' met the X-men yet, I'd love it.

What did Austen have in mind?

Why? We have Ultimate Longshot for that.

No one cares about Longshot.

I never cared for Ultimate or 616 Longshot personally.

Ultimate Gambit was awesome, but so was Ultimate Rogue before Kirkman took over. Ultimate Gambit is better off dead while he's still writing this title. God only knows how he'd ruin Gambit. He sure ruined Rogue in a heartbeat.

Ultimate Longshot is one of the best Ultimate creations. Ultimate Gambit, not so much.

Before Vaughan came along he was.

I found Chuck Austen's introduction of Ultimate Gambit surprisingly appealing.

And as much as I loved Brian K. Vaughan's run, I admit that in the Cry Wolf arc his Gambit was a poor imitation of the 616 and the plots involving the Fenris twins and he and Rogue falling in love with other and running away together was ridiculous, although the characters intereactions between the X-Men during the arc was priceless.
Then in the first Annual I found Gambit likeable again... pity he died and all...
But his sacrifice left Rogue in an amazingly interesting status quo with a lot of potential, which Kirkman made sure to not take advantage of and chose to threw it all away...

At least Rogue still had her coolness and newness factor of having Gambit's powers in the Ult Spidey arc.....oh wait, except for the whole FLYING thing.

Maybe U Gambit could fly? ;) I agree that U Gambit had potential, but I wouldn't count him out just yet, he was sucked dry by Rogue and SHIELD picked up the corpse.. Its SHIELD, they revived Beast, I bet they could revive Gambit and force him to be a spy. Not a great comeback, but possible.

Say what? I didn't get that arc.

Don't bother. It's terrible. And even though Rogue is shown clearly flying and punching robots (of course, she must have super strenght), Marvel assures us that she's not flying but can jump quite high. Oh, and apparently Iceman was always there fighting off-panel, that's why we never saw him.

Sounds like Bendis(or whoever wrote the crossover) assumed Rogue had Ms. Marvel powers without reading the actual story.

What are editors paid to do again?

Yeah, that was ridiculous. Spidey is dating Iceman's ex and he leaves Bobby out of the arc completely. That arc could have been gold, but instead became the worst few issues of the series.

Isn't Iceman due to appear in USM next year? I heard Bendis gonna do an Ultimate Amazing Friends arc.

No one cares about Longshot.

You are incorrect. Ultimate Longshot might even fall under the category of likable, non-generic villain. This is appreciated by many.

If they ever do decide to bring Ult Gambit back. I hope they don't turn him into a plot device for Rogue this time 'round. Give him something new...or maybe share a plot with someone different like Psylocke...or maybe Nick Fury...

I liked the character. I think the gradual loss of Rogue's Gambit powers is a foreshadow to open the door for a possible Ultimate Gambit return. I think they could work other angles besides just the Rogue lovestory. I would love to see them perhaps let him work his charms on Emma Frost, Moira, or even Liandra, hitting on his sensuality to the female race again.

That's how I feel about the Ultimate titles. I'm not too sure about 616, but I'd think I can keep the UU straight. It's just what, 4 main titles over the span of less than a decade?

Is little kid Gambit from early in the series the same one that died? did he age fast or did I miss stuff? sorry if it's a dumb question

Yes; Vaughan just butchered the character to shoe-horn him into that crappy little arc with Rogue.

Wow, who ever thought there would be a thread where people talk about an awesome character of Austen's that somebody else ruined? And I actually agree!

This isn't the Ultimate Universe, it's Bizarro World!

LoL

It's funny because it's true...

Even more astonishing is that it's Vaughan the one that's getting the bashing instead of Austen...

Ultimate Gambit was a disappointment, with bad hair. If he comes back I would like him to look better and not simply be a younger version of 616 Gambit.

Still a fair assessment of the character considering he apparently aged about 15 years off panel between his intro and Wolf's Run.

I haven't been keeping up with UXM, but I'd like to see Gambit come back. I hated that they killed him off.
And what the heck? They brought back Beast? How'd that happen?
