hey, im new here and ive recently returned back to comics, ive had a little stint with amazing spiderman and uncanny x-men and now i wanna try something that ive not read before.

ive always liked comics like fathom, witchblade(hey im a guy! lol) and was thinking maybe go back to those. but id really prefer to just jump in at the deep end on something completely new.

ive always like spawn for the art work and the figures but ive never really known much about him, would you recommend spawn for a new start?

i dont mind splashing out for early issues etc.. ive always blown my money on comics, im not very good at saving :), sorry about the rant, hope you guys can help.

cheers,

Invincible

Oh, and Invincible.

Godland is good too, so is Noble Causes, you can try Dynamo 5 since it's just getting started.

Did I mention Invincible?

I haven't read Spawn in many many many years, but it seems like I've only been hearing good stuff about the recent run...

Witchblade... I tried out for 6 issues after that free issue (#80 or so?)... I thought it was ok, but not great - I ended up dropping it.

The only Image book that I always read is Savage Dragon, which, if you can put up with the strange publishing schedule, is consistantly one of the best books out there.

And Usagi Yojimbo. And Daredevil... and DMZ... dammit... I think we might have different tastes; I'm not being helpful at all! :-/

EDIT: Oh yeah... when Turner did that first series of Fathom, I was all over it. Loved it, but I haven't read it since that first series ended.

My fault, I completely read the OP wrong, I thought he was asking what other books he should look at.

Silly me.

Witchblade has been good for the past 25 issues since Ron Marz took over the writing. The first storyline is decent, but he takes it up a notch after that.

The "revamped" Spawn by David Hine wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but it was better than any of the previous issues I'd ever read.

Now's the perfect time to jump onto Witchblade since The Balance has finally been passed to a new bearer.

I'd check out last week's issue of The Ride because the art looks great from art students and the proceeds go to a great cause.

WALKING DEAD, CASANOVA, and FELL are the end all Image titles for me though. Excellent trio of books. Walking Dead you might need a history lesson, Casanova's and Fell's trades both came out and they're both all standalone issues so you never really have to backtrack...save for the one single storyarc in Casanova which is easily explained.

the Darkness is good you should try that too and Topcow is about to do a crossover so that don't miss that. and Hunter killer if you can.
