taking to my friendly neighbor comic book store owner last week, he said that he has asked DC why the brother have produced so little during their time with DC. I don't know how long their contract is but I have to guess, that they are coming to end of it shortly.

So if DC could go back in time, would they still sign them?

i have an opinion on this. and my answer would be no. on the books they've taken over we've had delays and fill ins. andy has been more prolific, but he's still late, despite a 3 month break (the grotesk arc and the john van fleet joker story.) the next issue will be delayed again.
while adam has produced a few issues, and now we have a three issue fill in with renato guedes art. that and the last son of krypton will not even finish in the actual acition comics book, its been pushed back to an annual or something.

consider that both of them had lead in time before their runs started, during which time they did covers here and there and to me its just not acceptable.
neithers art has changed significantly (no added detail etc) to warrant such delays, especially when they both put out more regular content at marvel.

theres no doubt they are superb artists and true superstars, but surely they just can't be motivated at the moment?

maybe quesada sent them over to ruin dc's two biggest titles. (sales figures prove they've took a slump.)

who knows, but i would love them to sort out their slumps and get back to form. especially adam on batman as ive ejoyed morrisons writing and his art in the issues that have come out so far.

Of course they'd sign them again. Late shipping books and deadline issue are SOP in today's comics world. It hasn't stopped DC from employing Jim Lee, Frank Miller, Frank Quitely, Grant Morrison, or any number of others. And it's also very likely that their contract is tied to the amount of work they produce, so if they come to the end of the contracted period and haven't met the minimum amount of output, the could still be obligated to complete more work, so it's not like DC won't get work out of them.

but it'll take time, and going on whats happening, lots of it! leaving the mega blockbuster storylines they're both involved in, very disjointed.
i suppose lateness, these days is a price you pay for quality. (look at hitch, one of the best around yet very late!)

I'd rather have books on time than the type of "quality" these artists are producing. 52 is a great example of having good, solid artists on a title and not losing a beat.

a very fair and valid point. but dc announced these guys as artist on their books and im sure us fans would feel short changed if we got a 6 issue arc with art by andy kubert, but when all was said and done we actually only has 4 issues by andy kubert and two fill ins.

personally i think dc should be using some of the talented artist they've turned up of late, like shane davis, ivan reis, daaniel acuna etc etc
