OK,
some co-workers and I were discussing the upcoming Fantastic Four II movie, and the Silver Surfer.

I told them the original story from FF #48-49-50 had been assembled and reprinted in a 44 page thin trade paperback for about $4.95 and then another reprinting for $5.95... and that it's still around.

We looked on Ebay and found several collections and trade paper backs, but none looked right. Is it the one with John Byrne in the credits from 1981?

Or was this just a reprint some years later?... say in the 1990s...

Can anyone help us narrow this down? How many times has the original artwork by Jack Kirby been reprinted. I figure once in this TPB, once in Marvel's Greatest Comics (issue #s?) but with other crapy covers slapped over Jack Kirby's interior artwork... and MAYBE in a Marvel Treasury Oversized book.

But with the approach of this movie, are there any plans to re-issue the story? A movie adaptation? Or is Marvel just going to warp all existing storylines to try to insert the Silver Surfer and Galactus into the current books being published?

HELP PLEASE!

The best place to get the story (that I know of) is the Marvel Visionaries: Jack Kirby hardcover (although it's also in the second Fantastic Four omnibus.)

It's an excellent collection which includes the "This Man. This Monster." epilogue, first Silver Age Captan America story, an excellent Thor three parter, and more.

I don't know of any cheaper reprints currently available, although the storyline should be collected in a British digest.
