I will miss Girls. On a retailer level it was our #1 selling Image title but more importantly it was the #1 or 2 book I read on its release week and always left me with a "wtf?" moment at the end and a need to read the following issue.
If you haven't read this series - pick it up - they will be 4 trades that you will never regret buying

Fantastic series. I absolutely loved it.
And the finale is every bit as magnificent and beautiful as I'd hoped.

Never heard of it, never seen it before -- but I'm leaving for my comics shop right now and DEFINITELY picking up the first trade. This sounds amazing.

This series earns my HIGHEST recommendations. And if you've been reading CBR for a while you know I almost never come on the boards and say that! If you can find all three trades together, you might as well just buy them, because you're going to want to run right back to the store and get the 2 and 3 when you're done with 1. The cliffhangers are that good.

Anyone know if this series will somehow be collected in one huge volume?
Just interested...

I personally didn't like the end. I just felt it was lackluster, I am gonna read it again later though, after some sleep

I wasn't really impressed with what felt like the compression of the end of the story... The re-read, however, was really helpful. I was a lot happier (though not totally satisfied) once I went through a second time.
What was the deal on the first few pages? I didn't quite get that, but I may have missed something. Thoughts?

The town kills all the girls thus killing the giant sperm thing, but it shoots out something into space and finally everyone has a happy ending (no pun intended). In the end we see a naked girl in a sperm pod travelling to a new planet.
Horrible ending, excellent series. Nothing was explained in the end...it's like...what the hell was the point of everyone suffering then? What the hell was the girl's purpose?

As far as I understood it, the girls were some alien race that propagates by infesting a planet. They failed on Earth, so the sperm ship shot out a message into space telling the mothership/planet/giant intergalactic penis/whatever to try again. Or the ship itself shot out more little sperm ships. I don't know. The whole story is fascinatingly weird.

I too didn't get the ending or what was the point behind the whole invasion. That said how can you hate a book when one of the main characters is named Lester?

Girls is one of the best things I've ever read.

I felt the dreams with the "main" girl pretty much gave up what the aliens were there for. Just to propogate and continue to thrive. Just like all the people were, the bee (from the dream) and so on. They were just there to continue on as a species, there was no big devious plan, just let's go there to carry on. They failed but sent one girl to anotehr plant to try again. Quite simple imo.
But oh I loved the story, a very good ride. And really a good old fashion horror book.

I did not like the lack of an explanation at the end of the series. But I also believed this was the way that particular alien species propagates. They were not evil. They just needed to procreate. They have been going from planet to planet doing this. Who knows how many planets have had this happen.
What I do find interesting is they did not want to overrun the planet. I did not think about that until I started writing a reply to this thread. They placed a forcefield around the town not only to protect what they were doing, but also to protect the indigenous species of the planet (I think). If those girls had gotten out, our world would have been decimated.
