View Full Version : Will Hiroim be the key to questionable victories?

Even with the power up, there are some heroes Hulk just doesn't match up well against. Doc Strange being an obvious example. Sentry being a possible other one. (Regardless of whether or not you think Sentry should be that powerful, for the sake of argument, he just is) However, Jade Jaws has a guy on his side with a dark, quasi-mystical, poorly defined power. You have to figure Hulk is going to be on the losing side of a couple battles, otherwise why bother bringing along the rest of the Warbound. What are the odds that Hiroim is going to be the tipping point in those conflicts? I'm thinking pretty good.

Hard to say. I hope Hiroim and the rest have some spotlight time but I know that some battles the Hulk is waging alone (eg. the X-Men). And while the Warbound are on the cover of the Initiative tie-in we know that some of them are off doing their own thing - Miek and the Brood in the Savage Land and Korg with the detective in Frontline. So right now it's hard to say who is going to be around for what.
What I think will most likely happen is that the Hulk will want take the Illuminati members down personally but have the Warbound deal with some of the other heroes that are likely to be around.

Wasn't the Old Strong power tied into Sakaar? What kind of power did Hiroim have any way? I haven't been able to track down all the issues of planet hulk yet, so forgive me if my questions seem silly.

The Oldpower seems to be mystical in nature and allowed you to draw power from the planet as well as have some kind of "empathy" with it. With it we've seen Caiera turn her skin to stone giving her very high durability (lava immersion/taking direct hits from big bombs without a problem), superhuman strength (I'm guessing around Class 75) and be able to channel power from the planet to create earthquakes with a touch or hit someone with the force (up to) a small nuke.
Now that the power's passed on to Hiroim I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work on Earth (be little point in giving it to him unless he could use it).

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Those abilities could make Hiroim an impact player in this crossover. I'm really glad the Warbound made it out. I really hope that Miek and/or the Brood didn't cause the explosion that destroyed Sakaar. The Hulk has always been a loner, he has had friends, but at some point they always have to end up fighting against him. He needs some allies who won't abandon him no matter what. However, if the Warbound declared to Hulk that even they felt he was taking his war too far, that would introduce quite an interesting predicament.
What does anyone think the chances are that Hiroim will die and then pass the powers onto Hulk (temporarily, of course), therefore making him even more of a threat for the final battle?

Not too likely. Otherwise, Caiera would have probably just passed the powers on to Hulk to begin with. She knew she was dying and Hulk wasn't.
She wasn't the last of the Shadow People, though. Hiroim is. If he dies, the powers don't have anywhere pre-determined to go.

Anything's possible in the Land of Makebelieve (not meant to be a slight at you, just fiction in general). But there does seem to be a bit of a logic leap that just because everyone else is dead, Hiroim can pass the powers on to anyone he wants. Otherwise, why not Miek? And then Miek can claim responsibility for setting off the ship, and has enough power for there to be a big, badass showdown between him and Hulk.
None of this is probably going to happen, by the way.

sure, Hulk and Hiroim against Strange is a possible win for ol Jade jaws, maybe against Sentry.
but here's the thing: it's not gonna go down to where Hiroim is the only guy who can secure victory for the Hulk.
He's got a decent Planet's worht of warriors,Gladioators and brawlers on his side who are several times stronger, faster and more durable than the average puny human.
Hell, Miek's hive can Swarm Strange faster than he can mutter 'Miftanda Nifto!' or whatever...

Only a tiny fraction of Saakar's population made it off the planet. He has one ship that isn't nearly full of people.
