I was browsing online and found some Hostess ads from the 70s. 99% of them are funny.

How can you not love the Hostess ads?

My favorite is either the one where Thor fights the cosmic hillbillies or where MJ tells Peter that Hostess cupcakes are more rewarding to her than he's ever been.

I only vaguely recall, but I think there was one where Red Skull had the cosmic cube and he gave it up for a hostess pie, despite the fact that the cube had the power to give him a pie.

Here is the one I think your talking about.

Yeah, the Red Skull one is quite good, given that the Cosmic Cube ceases to obey its Nazi master because it'd rather...actually, it looks kind of like it wants to dry-hump the Twinkie in that last panel. Let's hope their unholy spawn turns up in the Spider-Girl universe as Twinkube, Processed Cake of the Cosmos.

I always dug the odd "reversal" strips they did with the Bat-villains like Penguin and Joker. The Joker's insanity meant that he was the only villain who hated them, presumably because Hostess didn't want a homicidal maniac endorsing their snack pastries.

My favorite was posted here at CBR just a few months ago, featuring Spider-man, "Cat" (Hellcat renamed by nervous corporate types) and Thanos. What makes it so awesome is that Thanos is flying around in a helicoptor. At one point, he threatens to "cream" Cat, which sounds much dirtier than was intended. By the end of the page, Thanos has been defeated and is being led away in cuffs by New York's Finest.

This is a project I'd love to see done by Marvel and DC, teaming along with Hostess and making a nice trade of all those great ads. I'd buy at least 3 trades.

But you can see them here: www.seanbaby.com

Have fun

The title on this one says it all. I guess this is the real origin of Spider-Girl:

Patton Oswalt wrote one, but I don't think it was ever drawn. I can find the script, though, 'cause he posted it on his blog. One mo.

Here 'tis: http://www.pattonoswalt.com/index.cfm?page=spores&show=marvel

See, if the New Warriors had thrown Hostess Twinkies at Nitro we wouldn't have the SHRA and Iron Man wouldn't have become Irondick!

Personally I liked the reference to those ads in Dan Slott's Spider-Man/Human Torch mini.

I liked the one with robin and the mummy ray, which by the way is the greatest idea ever.

I kind of liked the more recent one in an early issue of Thunderbolts, which was sort of an ode to the old ads.

Had Zemo happily eating a hostess product while unmasked....The bit kind of comes out of nowhere, so the unexpectedness of it made it more humorous.
