I've gotten tired of dealing with the McAffee security center that came with my Dell and I'm not renewing it. I was thinking of going with Avast! for some free virus detection. I was wondering what shareware/freeware programs people recommended (firewalls, etc.).

I use Avast and make friends install it on their computers.

It's true. I just totally unloaded Norton and put Avast on my new machine. And it's all Sk's fault.
Of course, most things are . . .

I've been using AVG free anti-virus for years with no problems whatsoever.

One thing though, whatever you end up using, amke sure to completey uninstall the old anti-virus before loading the new one.
