This is not a joke. My mother had a massive stroke Wednesday, and the prognosis is bleak. The family is standing by her wishes for comfort care only, and I just wanted everyone to know that I have not fallen off the face of the earth for no good reason. I'm just home long enough to post a couple of emails and shower and return to her bedside.

That's a blessing. I have known other families try to get a family member to hang on to life and....it is just never good for anybody.
I am sorry this is happening, however....and I hope her passing is peaceful and you can find the strength to move on from this...and if you need to vent about anything this is a good place.
Take care.

My deepest sympathies. You should spend all the time you need with your family and DO say anything and everything that is in your heart to your mother... The only things people tend to regret are the things they never had the chance to say.

Diva, I'm so sorry to hear about that. Loss of family is tough enough, when it's SO close (parents), that's even harder. Take your time, do what you must, allow yourself to love her and let her know.
If she does pass, hopefully it is peaceful and surrounded by loved ones. Prayers are with you, no matter the outcome.

This is a terrible time for you and your family. I'm glad that you can be with her, at least. I will say a prayer for her, and for you.

In situations like this, all we can do is pray that she's not in pain. The Absurds will be praying for just that.
Hang in there, Diva, and be with her as much as you can.

I'm sorry , to hear this.
Losing a parent is rough, no matter how old you are.
Dealing with hospitals just adds to the stress.
Good luck and take care of yourself as well as you family.

I'm sorry to hear of your mother's declining health. We went through this with my mom just 3 years ago. My heart goes out to you and your family. Know that there are a lot of people out here thinking of you and yours.
Take Care,
Dan

I want to thank everyone for their kind words and thoughts. I've just come back from the nursing home, where they have returned my mother and have called in hospice care.
She rallied a bit today, and we had a pleasant experience of knowing that she knows we are all here for her. Tonight she is running a new fever, and her blood pressure continues to fluctuate wildly.
I'm home for a shower, some rest, and a return in the morning. She will be 87 years old on Sunday. She's lived a good, long life and although it is never easy to say goodbye, that time is near.
Again, thanks to you all.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe one of the religious folks here can say an extra prayer for you on my behalf.
