I was thinking of getting into it. Any good?

The first two trades are OK, but then it takes a steep nose-dive. Since Infinite Crisis/One Year Later, it's been wholly unreadable.

Especially if you've stopped reading it. If not, some of the "unreadable" stuff turns out not to be.

winick gets alot of stick over nothing, i think the guy is a legend.
people blame him for green arrow getting cancelled, it's finishing by choices, sales are generally low for that title anyway, Dc could support it, but they are choosing to cancel it.

I know that Outsiders started a while ago, and I was just wondering if it would be too late to start reading it now.

naw im just messing with you. The current storyline is far different from that, you can jump on there and read enjoyably without having past issues screw your strings up

Actually the current storyline just tells what occurs in the missing year, it finishes up with the Outsider Annual shipping in April. The next arc is a crossover with Checkmate and has the international UN agency going up against the Outsiders.

If you like seeing Nightwing written completely out of character, or enjoy pretty much one-dimensional characters, it's great. The best thing this book has going for it is mad science by the boatload.

The Outsiders?
I read it in junior high school but frankly liked the movie a lot better. I mean Francis Ford Coppola, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swazie, it's liike eveyone involved with it became a star.
So it's really worth renting.

I read the last OYL story in a Barnes & Noble the other day. It was absolutely horrid and has been since early in the run.
Nightwing is written badly out of character. Jason Todd should have taken over post-OYL.
The supporting cast are generally written one-dimensional. It's hard to care about them.
Avoid at all costs.

It IS a title people love or hate, as is Judd Winnick.
I'm a longtime collector, esp of DC, and love this title. I suppose this could be Dick Grayson out of character, or maybe a different take on the character. Many many many characters over the years have been portrayed differently in different titles. I'm liking it. I thought when this and Titans first started by Johns that I would end up liking Titans better, but the opposite has happened. I've dropped Titans, not that it's bad, it's just not that great, and I've followed Outsiders since it started. In fact, I thought the Outsiders OYL was one of the very best stories.
The art has always been good too. Matt Clark has really made a mark here and Judd has a great ear for dialogue.
Well worth trying IMO.

The first few issues after OYL were unreadable, basically because Nightwing was Jason Todd I think. The book since has been a flashback, centered on getting Black Lightning out of jail. With information about his daughter being gay and the indistructible chick being bi. The characters are interesting but heroes are often defined by their villians and the group doesn't have a good villian right now.
