I picked them up recently, and the answer is, you should both be reading them as quickly as possible :)

Yea they're definately worth a read, but beware they're kinda trippy especially Seven Soldiers #1 which was like...wow.

Definitely, and well worth re-reading several times.

Abso-ma-lutely. Best series to come from DC in quite a while.

they were OK but you sort of get trapped into getting all 4 or none at all.

Yes.

You do need to get all four, given how they are set up, but you need to get them anyway, because they are amazing.

The first half of Seven Soldiers was one of the most amazing stories I've ever read. I think it loses something in the second half (particularly the ending), but it's still a worthwhile read.

But does it get the usual "Grant-Morrison-Weirdness" towards the end? I loved his JLA at first, but around the Philopher's Stone (or whatever stone it was) it got way too confusing and seemed to stay that way until the end of his run.

It's mostly not too too weird until the 7 Soldiers #1 (which is the last 40 pages of the story). That issue didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Overall I'd say it's worth getting

Morrison weirdness is WHY I get his stuff (not sure what could be considered confusing about his JLA run though). To each their own...

I don't get it either. I hear all the time about how confusing it is.... I never had any problem following it. What was the confusing part?

Exactly my feelings. The earlier stories (Klarion, Shining Knight, Zatanna, and Guardian) were all great! Didn't care much for the Bulleteer and Mr Miracle stories. Frankenstein was fun, though. The ending, however, felt rushed and should have been much bigger and more epic.
So, the first two trades are absolutely fantastic while the other two are 'merely' good.

Personally I thought The Bulleteer and Frankenstein were the best two minies out of the whole bunch
